And they were right at the time. The PowerPC chips destroyed Intel chips in performance even at lower clock speeds. The only reason they went to Intel was because IBM couldn't get the heat and power consumption of the G5 down to where it was usable in a laptop and IBM was also more focused on mainframes and servers with the Power Architecture and didn't want to spend the time to make new desktop/laptop versions of the Power chips anymore.
