  • this is my comp. song for musical theatre:)

  • I love it. :)

  • Best version. This is what I strive to be like when I perform this song.

  • GREAT SONG. I wish the singer had let us hear it...instead she actor-bates (think about it, say it out loud, you'll get it) all over it. Audra does the same thing actually ("My Stupid Mouth" was cute) but since she sings like AUDRA MCDONALD, you forgive her. This Meredith lady is nice enough but she sings like eveyone else in her genre; nothing spectacular. And I'm sure if I saw her sing this twice, the performances would be identical and that's boring. IMO

  • @thekendemetrishow What exactly is it that you wanted?

  • best version of this song. period.

  • I am crying. I do not cry. DAMMIT.

  • @DJAudioBoots

lol I love you babe. But this is beautiful.

  • Damn! This was BEAUTIFUL!

  • In response to @jnetusil's comment......I think Meredith is great both on the singing and acting fronts - love the fact you can see her thoughts so clearly - that's what musical theatre is all about isn't it? Audra is lovely too - a very different style, so not really fair to compare them. In my opinion they are both hugely talented beautiful women who do wonderful versions of this great song. Don't think your " borderline tacky" comment was very kind or called for really. Well done M I say!!

  • love love love loveeee her

  • @jnetusil what makes this version so great? because she acts out every thought so literally? i think it's borderline tacky. audra is untouchable.

  • I have never seen this play nor do I know the meaning behind the character, but this song sounds to me like a woman who is never satisfied. Although the ending could be regret, it could also be her reflecting on just another thing she "couldn't" have. i do love the song, but can anyone else at least see that aspect of this?

  • @MedievalMind

The whole play is written for a quartet( I THINK), one soprano, one mezzo/belter/character singer, one tenor and one baritone. It is a compilation of songs that have slightly the same feeling behind them, but there is no plot. Each scene is a new character, with a totally different song. They all make up a chorus at some points that sing songs that just keep the show flowing. She's singing about all the things she THINKS she wants in life....

  • @MedievalMind

and then at the end gets all the things she thought she wanted(mostly materialistic) and realizes that the things that these other two men could have given her had she let them, and how they could have enriched her life in a way that this man and his money and possessions couldn't possibly do.

  • this woman is fabulous! i am a musical theatre geek and she really does this song very well! Meredith Inglesby! you are amazing!

  • she is truely talented. i am a musical theatre freak and she does this incredibly well! go Meredith Inglesby!

  • She sounds like it's her life she's talking about.

This lady has the talent to make you laugh during the song and make you cry in the end. THAT is HARD.

Personally, I've seen MANY videos of this song (believe me, I'm using this song for auditions) and other actresses show only sadness through the entire song. But here, it seems as she is remembering, and she smiles...

Dunno, I find this version the perfect one.

Has also makeup and the right clothes and earrings..

    Brilliant.

    Just Brilliant.

  • wonderful performance. terrific actress!

  • brilliant - just brilliant

  • tons of makeup? yes

    amazing voice? absolutly

  • i actually think that the makeup & diamond earrings add to how "rich" she is now... and then what she really wanted in life is revealed :(

  • My favorite video of this song :-)

  • oh this is beautiful

  • Wow, she's really good! And the acting wins her points too;)

  • wow..this is a REALLLY GOOD PERFORMANCE!!!

  • Can't wait to see/hear the live version!!!

    See you soon!

    DJ

  • i love it

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • Absolutely stunning! Perfect blend of melancholy and comedy, Meredith! Am now putting this on repeat for the 9th time...

  • Great song - WONDERFUL rendition by Meredith. I had the GREAT GOOD fortune to work with this extraordinary talent in a dinner theatre production of CAMELOT...Lucky man that I am, she was my partner for a couple of numbers. I knew it then - she was on her way! I absolutely LOVE this woman. Her talent and beauty is only matched by her warmth and humor(!). I am so bloody happy for her, and very, very proud of her. She has my love always. Steve.

  • i love steffi d's version. it's great.

  • @hptwilightaddict Steffi D's version is AMAZING.

  • @hptwilightaddict Steffi D's is good, I'll admit, but it doesn't have the same raw emotion that this one does. I actually got goosebumps at the end and I wanted to cry.

  • My favourite version.. just perfect in every way, Meredith! Beautiful piano, Don! This has been on repeat for an hour now!!

  • This is very beautiful =)

She did a wonderful job, I'd love to have a profession like this one day =)

  • wow! very good! i have been looking for a good version of "Stars And Moon", and this is the best i have found yet, just the right amount of drama, but enough hiumor to keep the audience laughing.

when i went to go see "Songs For A New World", my friend's sister was doing this song, she has this beautiful angel-sweet voice, and so innocent too, she did very well, (got one of the longest applauses in the show) i really wish that i had a video of that performance.

  • Wow, I have to say I really really loved her rendition of this song. I would say it definitely is one of the best on here! :)

  • Wow she's amazing at this song - ive heard this song sung by so many people and this is by far the best singing and performance i've seen. Fantastic stuff! x

  • I saw her as Ursula in Little Mermaid. Her voice was stunning!!

  • Brilliant! She's such an amazingly well-rounded performer, I could see every thought that went through her head. Truly amazing; beautiful voice, perfect composure, and she hit every note on the head with confidence. Meredith, you are a role model to anyone in the performing arts business.

  • i Love this

    she's amazing

    argh

    I Love Her

  • fantastic!

  • beautiful voice really inspirational

  • Probably the best rendition of this song i have heard!! i love her passion, and she takes a more lighthearted view on this song compared to other performners!! i loved it!!

  • OMG OMG OMG I LOVE THIS SONG SHE IS FANTASTIC AND.... SHE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ahhhh

  • I really enjoyed this. :)

    Fantastic characterisation!

  • i absolutely love this song

    and she is amazing

    :)

  • I've to sing "Stars and the Moon" in a couple of weeks, in an open class, and this video has been absolutely inspirational.

I'm not a native English speaker, so I had a hard time with the lyrics, but this performance helped me understand them much better.

    Thanks!

  • awsome

  • very very lovely

  • Meredith Inglesby is an amazing actress. I hope I can one day be as relaxed and creative on stage. This was amazing, thanks for posting it!

  • I just think your amazing...i LOVE the characterisation you brought to the roll i was in stitches like never before and ive heard this song a million times! You inspired me to sing it for a very important audition...i fell in love with the song all over again.

    Thank you.xx

  • This was beautiful.

One of my favorite performances of it ever.

  • the pianist is not playing what is written... there are no staccato notes written in.

    it detracts from the singing.

i love how this singer does this song, her glammed up costume goes SO well with this songs spirit.

  • She's really fantastic! Great interpretation.

could have done without the "the-uh moon"

    but yeah.

  • she sung at our school today it was really good ...

  • This is so great. Thanks Don Hite and Meredith Inglesby.

  • The fabulous Meredith Inglesby on tour with my production of LULLABY of BROADWAY: A NEW THEATRICAL CONCERT EXPERIENCE. Don Hite on Piano. Colin Hosek on Percussion. Shot in Kansas City.
