The cameras don't show it, but its the way his hand is moving when he asks her to stand straight and look at him. He moves his hand around like someone would a dialpad. When he gets to the area on the "dial pad" that is representative of the number on her phone's dial pad, she gives a micro-expression or "tell".

Those mistakes were build in to make it look more realistic, the trick is to make it look like magic while using a simple trick. The discribing of the second person etc. is just an act of course, all to make it look realistic, that's what he does for living: entertaining people.
