Toyota's quality has gone downhill for the past few years, I purchased a 09 Matrix and although it might be reliable, there are better choices out there and I will not purchase another Toyota for my next car.
Whats wrong with Subaru?They are great cars but don't appeal to many because of quirky styling and non-competitive gas mileage due to an amazing AWD system. Combined with reliability that is above toyota they are great cars, and for such a small car company they routinely make it into top/editors picks and so on.Also Subaru has the best residual value according to KBB.So don't be too surprised that it was ranked up there. And yes the Malibu is a very solid car for the mass markets.
Oh and IMO the 1997-2001 Camrys are the best! Quiet, quiet, quiet! It rides very smooth and has pretty good power for a 4cyl, and the V6 is no that bad either.
I've sat/driven in a 09 Camry, and BOY is this car over hyped. It rides rough, and it has a considerably amount of road noise. The transmission lags when you try to overtake a car. Interior quality is nice, but I hate the blue accents on the center console. It's good run around car I guess, but I definitely would not waste my money on an over priced SE, XLE, or XLE V6
Cheap, Cheap, Cheap. Needs a mid cycle refresh and an update on that interior to where you can't pull those trim pieces off around the center stack, before I buy one!

The ability for the panels to be unsnapped, is not a bad thing. It means the car was designed so that electronics can be accessed easily. That panel snaps off easily, and snaps firmly into place with no rattles. The whole car is designed for perfect quietness.

I have a 2006 Toyota Camry SE that I got brand new. I have had it for 5 years and 100000 km. I have only changed the tires and break pads. It is still very tight with no rattles. I really can't believe it still runs like new. I have been in some 5 year old cars before and felt like it was going to die. I love my Toyota. I am thrilled with the reliability it has given me. There is a reason that toyota get so much money on resale. They are worth it.

@DtorBillAgain Funny how the Malibu has been regarded as the car that helped bring back GM. It beat out the Accord and Altima when it was first reviewed by Motor Trend but I doubt you guys will acknowledge that. Funny how you ranked an also (Subaru) as one of your first pics and the Mazda 6 which is only good if you want sportiness and nothing else for the money. The Malibu is actually a very good car and is going to really shine in its next generation.
Toyota, in my honest opinion, has declined in terms of quality in the part few years. They wanted to be #1, well...here it is, but for how long can they keep it up?
If you go to Southern California, the roads are filled with Toyota's and I'm not talking about old Toyota's, I'm talking about 2007 and up. I guess that's what marketing really does to consumers...like what GM did back then when they used to be #1.
The point is, people should do more research in regards to buying their cars.

Man, have an '05 ('06) Toyota Camry with over 202,000 miles on it now. Still goin' strong. The only thing that I had to replace was a Rear Right Ball Joint. Other than that these are mint cars! My '09 already has over 47,000 miles on it now! I love Toyota! and Datsun and Honda!

Toyota's recalls were really not needed because the Gov't like 2 months ago announced after their investigation that the "Sticky Gas Pedal" incident was false. The gas pedals didn't fail, they concluded that the 4 who died in California (RIP) died because they suspect instead of hitting the brake to stop, they hit the gas. Also, their sales are up 16.8%.

I don't know about this 2010 but the old 1990's Camrys were just unkillable and probably the most popular car in the 200k mile club. Toyota quality has fallen ever since which is something I thought I'd never hear.

Camry remains the best decision for a potential buyer. The reason is that being relatively more expensive, every single design in Camry serves as an entity among others.
I am here to tell you Toyota's quality has fallen off to the point we have purchased our last one. Our 2010 Camry SE Sport has had the right axel replaced, the left axel replaced and then the transmission. The transmission is now slipping and the vibration they tried to get rid of is still there.
@cboh58 I agree with you on the camry's quality. Even compared to my sisters 02 which is built very well, the newer ones are completely crap. Sorry to hear about the problems yours gave you. You should buy a 2010 ford fusion. That's a much better all around choice. My mother has one.

@pattycarljackson Oh I love Hyundai. I have for a long time. Never said that I didn't like them. I like toyota too, but like you, I like the old ones. The best camry's were the 2006 and back. The sonata is even more comfy and quiet inside then the camry. I drove an 09 sonata gls in driving school and it was silent on the highway and smooth :)
Toyota sent out one of their experts who reported that after the last repair, 4th attempt, everything checked out fine. The problem is the expert never drove the car after the repair because he had to leave and look at another vehicle. We found this out when the mechanic told us he actually gave it his blessing contrary to what the service manager stated. He also said they installed different tires on it for the test drive so the equipment would give the proper reading.
So as a warning don’t assume that your repair was actually completed as the expert obviously allows the shop guys now use his signature to say all is fine. We are still waiting for the closed out work order that was to be mailed to us two months ago.
We have hired an attorney as Toyota has been unresponsive to our problem. Oh just received a recall notice on this vehicle now too.

I've sat/driven in a 09 Camry, and BOY is this car over hyped. It rides rough, and it has a considerably amount of road noise. The transmission lags when you try to overtake a car. Interior quality is nice, but I hate the blue accents on the center console. It's good run around car I guess, but I definitely would not waste my money on an over priced SE, XLE, or XLE V6

The ability for the panels to be unsnapped, is not a bad thing. It means the car was designed so that electronics can be accessed easily. That panel snaps off easily, and snaps firmly into place with no rattles. The whole car is designed for perfect quietness.

I have a 2006 Toyota Camry SE that I got brand new. I have had it for 5 years and 100000 km. I have only changed the tires and break pads. It is still very tight with no rattles. I really can't believe it still runs like new. I have been in some 5 year old cars before and felt like it was going to die. I love my Toyota. I am thrilled with the reliability it has given me. There is a reason that toyota get so much money on resale. They are worth it.

It beat out the Accord and Altima when it was first reviewed by Motor Trend but I doubt you guys will acknowledge that. Funny how you ranked an also (Subaru) as one of your first pics and the Mazda 6 which is only good if you want sportiness and nothing else for the money. The Malibu is actually a very good car and is going to really shine in its next generation.

Toyota, in my honest opinion, has declined in terms of quality in the part few years. They wanted to be #1, well...here it is, but for how long can they keep it up?
If you go to Southern California, the roads are filled with Toyota's and I'm not talking about old Toyota's, I'm talking about 2007 and up. I guess that's what marketing really does to consumers...like what GM did back then when they used to be #1.
The point is, people should do more research in regards to buying their cars.

And try to understand, you can't entry if you speak Japanese... :) Again, you should see the things with a realistic and objective point of view: While you in your country (which you don't know, curious :) ) the educational system teaches hatred to kids KIDSSSS, in Japan it doesn't happen... that's a fact. :)

Haha "Im not Kelsey Mayes" yea tell him to get off Toyotas nuts. I think the Camry has a good looking exterior, history of reliability, and best financing. But the suspension is sooo boring its like floating on clouds put that in a Buick and the interior is so plain and boring. They aimed for the baby boomers that didnt care about looks just previous reliability. correct me if im wrong but arent they having reliability issues right now why doesnt that get blown up like other car companies

Man, have an '05 ('06) Toyota Camry with over 202,000 miles on it now. Still goin' strong. The only thing that I had to replace was a Rear Right Ball Joint. Other than that these are mint cars! My '09 already has over 47,000 miles on it now! I love Toyota! and Datsun and Honda!

@Ian74263... Besides, I've heard a lot of people saying "Toyota's finished now, they're history." What I say to them is that they're an idiot. Toyota's recalls were really not needed because the Gov't like 2 months ago announced after their investigation that the "Sticky Gas Pedal" incident was false. The gas pedals didn't fail, they concluded that the 4 who died in California (RIP) died because they suspect instead of hitting the brake to stop, they hit the gas. Also, their sales are up 16.8%.

@Ian74263 My uncle's grand marquis has 585,000 miles on it & hasn't had any repairs; all maintenance. he used it as a taxi & worked many double shifts.

I don't know about this 2010 but the old 1990's Camrys were just unkillable and probably the most popular car in the 200k mile club. Toyota quality has fallen ever since which is something I thought I'd never hear.

I am here to tell you Toyota's quality has fallen off to the point we have purchased our last one. Our 2010 Camry SE Sport has had the right axel replaced, the left axel replaced and then the transmission. The transmission is now slipping and the vibration they tried to get rid of is still there.

@cboh58 I agree with you on the camry's quality. Even compared to my sisters 02 which is built very well, the newer ones are completely crap. Sorry to hear about the problems yours gave you. You should buy a 2010 ford fusion. That's a much better all around choice. My mother has one.

@giannial1985 im agreeing but id never drive a toyota but older ones were built better newer ones just suck u mit not like hyundai but they are way better then toyota now they stepped their game up alot i got the 06 sonata close to 200,00 miles on it and never had a problem runs beautifully lol in my opinion the sonata alwas had better inside and now outside styling then the camry ever had

@pattycarljackson Oh I love Hyundai. I have for a long time. Never said that I didn't like them. I like toyota too, but like you, I like the old ones. The best camry's were the 2006 and back. The sonata is even more comfy and quiet inside then the camry. I drove an 09 sonata gls in driving school and it was silent on the highway and smooth :)

Toyota sent out one of their experts who reported that after the last repair, 4th attempt, everything checked out fine. The problem is the expert never drove the car after the repair because he had to leave and look at another vehicle. We found this out when the mechanic told us he actually gave it his blessing contrary to what the service manager stated. He also said they installed different tires on it for the test drive so the equipment would give the proper reading.

So as a warning don’t assume that your repair was actually completed as the expert obviously allows the shop guys now use his signature to say all is fine. We are still waiting for the closed out work order that was to be mailed to us two months ago.
We have hired an attorney as Toyota has been unresponsive to our problem. Oh just received a recall notice on this vehicle now too.
Avoid Thousand Oaks Toyota….
