i have the nokia e71 also and i am trying to set up a "lock code" so after a minute of me not touching it, it will ask me to enter the lock code. well i went into the settings and created a lock code and set the time for 1 minute and i sat my phone down and waited the minute. after the minute was up it said locked on my home screen and wont let me type in anything. if i take the battery out and restart it i have to enter the lock code and it will work but only until i lay it down for the minute

@harmonator4 cannot undo restriction means that you have hard locked the phone. You have to get the unlock counter reset. This can only be done at various cell phone shops.

Can you unlock and use on the Verizon network?

@rikmans6 most phones come locked to a network carrier. If you want to use it on any network carrier, you have to get it unlocked. You can try to put your sim card in, and if it works, then great, but if it doesn't please visit our website for an unlock code.

I got an unlock code from att (actually they gave me two different ones for the same imei number - a primary and secondary which is odd), and tried the exact procedure as stated in their e-mail to me:

and got "code error" on both tries. They claim I don't need the sim card in tho I had it in for the first try anyway. The e-mail also claims that after 3 tries I'm basically locked into the carrier permanently and screwed. Any chance any of that is true or I'm doing something wrong?

i followed the steps exactly like on this video, which are the same as in the at&t unlock email. Problem is i get "error code" instead of "sim registration off".. this email is form at&t. email states not to input 3x or phone will be permanently locked to at&t. tried 2x, 1 by myself and 1 with at&t rep., Could they have sent me a wrong code on purpose??? Hi, I bought an unlock code from toher provider. With the unlocking instructions he say the phone must turned on WITHOUT sim card. You say it must be done with the AT&T sim. I tried 2 times with no success. Could be this a consequence of doing it without the sim inserted?

We prefer to use the AT&T sim card. Once in a while, we get the AT&T Nokia E71x in stock and we have had a 100% success rate using the AT&T sim card. AT&T Nokias are a little odd.

The IMEI is under the battery. The code will not work in your phone. Each unlock code is made specific for the IMEI. This unlock code that I used was made especially and only for this phone.
