  • im not gettin my kid a tsx

  • @ChillinInColumbiaInn seriously. i'd buy myself one and stick the kid with a kia.

  • anything newer then 2006 and you wont be able to afford insurance... im 20 years old with drivers ed.. and anything newer then a 2006 is gonna coast me over 5k a year... screw this gas thing.. i can afford gas easy... insurance screws me...

  • Scion XB ATW!

  • acura tsx for cheep? you kidding me?

  • Yeah...im just gonna look for an old accord

  • Dude these suck. I'm 16 and drive a Mustang gt.

  • @Cjrm3gtr Sick dude. I'm getting a V6, or a GT with straight A's and stuff.

  • Kids will try to speed no matter what car you get them.

  • I spent $7500 on my first car. a 2006 Scion tC w/ 5-speed manual. Took a couple years of saving to get it. The car started having problems, so I traded it in for a new car. and Yes I pay the monthly payment and the insurance for it. Along with gas too

  • did this bitch really just give us a list of cars that could be found under 12k and dared to put the Acura TSX in that list. this man must out of his goddamn mind.

  • Let them walk and earn their money for their first car - they will appreciate it more

  • 2000 Porsche Boxter, under 10,000 dollars but its probably not the safest

  • Buy my teen a $12000 car? Wait to teach our kids to earn what they have.

  • Those are cars that teens dont willing to buy

  • oké, very nice and all, but I'll keep my e39 BMW. It has more options and safety features than most budget new cars (8 airbags etc etc)

  • These are fucking expensive for a first car. Get em a beat up old civic and make em learn to fix it and drive it and then let them buy their own car. Acura for a first car?

  • no thanks sir.. im fine with my aventador

  • I always thought the best cars for teens were the: Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni, Porsche GT2 RS and Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca.

  • It's depends on whether your parents going to buy you a new car or used car. But most of the time as young driver, you'll likely to see pass down car. But the list still good.

  • No thanks, I'll stick with my 92 mustang gt.

  • I got a 98 jeep wrangler BITCH!!! if I die then at least I will be havin fun ;)

  • consumer reports is always boring. ford focus?

  • Volkswagon rabbit.... Not even a GTI SMH

  • Nissan 240sx. 1993 or older

  • So what I got from this video is a teen should get a lifted truck or SUV, the higher the better.

  • Yea but a lot of parents aren't going to buy their kid a newer car like the ones in this video. Besides, who the fuck would want to drive a Hyundai sonata as a teen?

  • Whats with all the imports? And Jeeps are tanks! and they do NOT roll over all the time like people think. Ive TRIED to roll my wrangler over (because you can just flip it back over easily with no damage) and its pretty hard! hahaha

  • xd, im getting a land rover lr3, for $18,000

  • this video sucks! you should be showing cars like the mustang, camaro, or charger

  • U didn't include 06- 11 Chevy Impala

  • Just got a 2012 Nissan Versa SV for 16990 after fees.

  • They should rename it to best cars for teens that have good jobs, or have rich parents

  • heh teens can not afford those cars unless they are rich kids ... i think a good used car for teens can be a honda civic 2001 or newer .. its cheap to buy cheap to run cheap to insurence and has 5 star in cruch test ....i know its a japanise car so you dont get much problem down the road

  • The tsx is a European accord just so you know. Its like a cross between the TL and the civic.

  • there needs to be more older midsize and large passenger cars. look for cars with lo profile tires and ABS disk brakes side bags. the best cars has good side result before the side bags were avaiable. some Japanesse midsize had side bags a early as 2002.

larger cars are safer and cheaper to insure. often young person especially males will not recoup what they save in fuel if they purchase a smaller vehicle. that said, stay away from trucks and vans. ESC no substitute for static stability

  • I got a jeep wrangler with a 3 inch lift when i was 16 and rolled around with no sway bar half the time and I am still here. Now I have an lr3 in college so clearly top heavy suvs are unsafe.

  • "best cars for teens" AKA cars that will never get you laid

  • @punchmaster123 So a car depends on completely if you get laid? When you're a kid a car is a car, and if you don't agree, then i'm guessing, 1) You don't have your licensee. 2) You have everything given to you. 3) You are just a stuck up ignorant bitch.

  • @punchmaster123 What are the best cars to get teen males laid?

  • i rather get a cool civic

  • buzz kill.... ill stick to my 02' jaguar

  • lol im gonna daily drive a mustang and drive a porsche 911 once every two weeks :-)

  • They forgot about Subaru. The boxer engine lowers the center of gravity so they will not roll over. The awd, even without stability control makes the cars or suvs secure in emergency handling. And, they are some of the safest cars out there; Subaru was the only manufacturer in 2011 to have all of their vehicles top IIHS safety picks.

  • how about chevy camaro 2007 ?

    for more experienced drivers

  • "Best cars for teenagers" AKA cars that will never get you laid

  • lol why recommend tax while we have accord, they are the same shit, well almost the same.

  • They should recommend what cars are best to buy used. Quite honestly, not a lot of college students can buy brand new car including me.

  • my dad bought me a Cadillac CTS-V

    yey me i guess XD

  • When i drive soon. Im driving a 1974 dodge truck with No Seatbelts and No Airbags and 6 wheels + big. Good for picking up the ladies

  • im 15 and when i drive i got a 1974 dodge power wagon with NO Seatbelts NO Airbags and 6 wheels and big good for picking up ladies.

  • my first car was a 1991 ford escort... the seat bealts didnt work.. it was rusted it had no exaust line... the horn didnt work... there was no heating in it... and a month after i sold it for 400$ the engin cought on fire hhahhahaha those were the days :D

  • lol who takes this seriously?

  • Why not Mercedes S class have so many safety options

  • i saved up money bought my self a 2007 charger RT

    im 17

but this is not my first car its my second... i had a 97' camry at first

  • This is total bullshit, i drive a 2000 GMC Jimmy and i can sit 5 or more teens and all the cars they showed are piece of shit foreign cars

  • i have a 1984 Pontiac Fiero and im 16

  • I have a 90hp vW Jetta TDI... and it can accelerate to 60 in about 9 seconds. 2 more seconds and I would be 18 wheeler ROADKILL. 8-11 seconds from 0-60?

Hello...this is the 21st century. The median highway speed is 70mph now.

  • is this list a joke? the amc pacer, are you really serious?

  • Volkswagen Jetta for under 12k... where the hell did he come up with that price?

  • Ya I'm buying my grandpas 2006 Toyota highlander, only because I know that they drive slow and have treated it great.

  • scion looks gay. and like a chode similar to the prius

  • Remember ppl these are safe cars not stylish looking or cheap. So yes pretty expensive and you will look whack driving these. Go look at a Honda or a Camry 1995 or higher kinda cheap and stylish looking.

  • Please Consumer Reports gets paid to rate these vehicles an on other products by the manufacturer so they get the best ratings bunch of B.S.

  • i have a M3 2008 and im 17

  • @XxlMf40xX You're obviously a lot more spoiled than us. I have a 1997 Ford Taurus. No CD player OR cruise control WILL drive you insane.

  • @XxlMf40xX Well aren't you just the spoiled douche! How cute.

  • @XxlMf40xX hahah nice i'm bout to get one 2 =0

  • @XxlMf40xX well not everybody can afford that piece of shit. a lot of people can be a complete douchebag like you, but not everybody can be as accident prone as you. let us all know when you total it and you die. we'll all be sure to send "Congratulations" cards to your parents.

  • They are recommending this to teens themselves as well as parents who will be buying a car for teens to drive you bunch of morons. These are all good choices. I would tend to go for a late model Jetta for structural integrity to protect my kids.

Plus, lay down the law when it comes to breaking the law as drivers. Any shinanigans and sh* is going to hit the fan.

  • wow my dad would look at those cars and chuckle cause he wont go over 4,000 dollars!!!!

  • E30 3 series or E36 5 series, a third the price of the TSX, better built and from a teenager's view cooler.

  • fucking dumbass...

  • I have a V8 SS Camaro. I has a new intake, chip, and a flowmaster exhaust. You better come get it because it's over 500hp and I'm 16

  • Yes, 3 months before I started my free business helping family and friends purchase new cars. Slow business right now.

  • I guess i should stop driving my 2010 550i and it goes like past fast

  • 0:24 I WISH!!

  • i found a better video for this

    watch?v=_RLP2GdTN7M&feature=related

  • Im 18 and i work part time in a retail store, Allstate wanted to charge me 250 dollars per mouth, and this people want me to buy a car that cost 12k ? And blow my saveings ? Consumer reports is just getting worse and worse like etoyotarockshsucks said.

  • The only car I see appealing to teens is the mazda and I clicked on the link for this video hoping to see more of the cute girl I saw.

  • Car crashes are not the number one killer. Abusing cell phones is the number one killer resulting in car crashes. To say crashes are the number one killer is like saying bullets kill people. The bullet comes from the gun that is being abused by the user.

  • Get a fucking subaru! Reliable and safe...even great in winter.

  • RABBIT FTW

  • wow these are shitty cars

  • That's why British teens think American people are spoilt

  • i guess my lifted 99 jeep wrangler sahara would be bad since its very easy to roll-over

  • Lol how about a 1970 Pontiac? ^_^

  • Well it would be nice if we were aloud to drive at 15 in the uk but u have to wait till 18 and people get crappy cars

  • best cars... preferably a lamborghini or ford gt... but i've got my badass '75 bronco solid as titanium

  • Lmao I have a 06 TSX and Im 18.

  • i guess i should stop driving my 2011 E350 since it goes too fast

  • lol, you couldn't touch an Acura TSX for that price. Sheesh.

  • @sonymat

"lol, you couldn't touch an Acura TSX for that price. Sheesh."

No, it's possible. It will have to be a much older TSX with high miles, but it's possible.

  • For the usual high school/college student, you guys forgot the Honda Civic! My 2004 ex is w/o stability control but it has handled fast cornering and ice quite well. 35mpg is nice too. :)

  • @pedalsnkeys1313 Yeah, Acura is mentioned but no Honda Civic or Accord? Where's the Corolla or Camry? They recommend the 2009 Ford Focus, which doesn't even have ABS standard in 2009?! VWs are notoriously unreliable (esp with their electronics) but the Jetta and Golf make it on the list? How about a Nissan Cube even? Ridiculous list.

  • i've got a 1999 Ford F-150 at 16. why? cause i bought the damn thing with my money! if i'm paying for it i'm gonna get what i want! Parents shouldn't buy their kids a car, just let the kids drive the parents car until they have to money to buy their own.

  • @jkguitarfreak95

    amen bro,

  • How are most families going to afford cars that are $10,000+ for their teens first car -____- ...CR lets be realistic you need to REDO this report for good used cars under $4,000

  • Only one domestic on the list...

  • Mazda 2, Great car for the college girl!

  • Wow! Do they think everyone is made of money!? Good luck finding a TSX under 12k

  • @bamac2008

    Ya I hear you!

  • Wtf were they smoking? The most obvious choices are Civic and Corolla, but they include Tsx (the new body one) I dare you to find 2009+ Tsx for $12k. I give this review a thumbs down.

  • I drove a minivan when I started to drive in 2007 at seventeen, and it was a 1997 Nissan Quest, which was donate because of oil leak. It's slow at 11 seconds 0-60. I even put more than 5 passengers in my car, and never got in trouble. I never had an accident in 3 years so far. Currently I drive a 2001 CR-V and a 2007 Odyssey, my parents' cars but I'm 20 now.

  • Honda Civic from 2006 or newer with VSA would have made it to the list. It has a stronger roof, 6 airbags, ABS, Traction Control, and VSA on upper trim levels like higher LX, EX, and EX-L. I think consumer reports only rate cars if stability control is standard on all trim levels of that model.

  • This would be a great list if only i had 12000. my budget is more like 1000

  • @PrimeiraFootballer Yeah, and Consumer Reports didn't mention if trucks are bad for teens :3. So I'd totally get a used truck, since used ones sell for cheaper then and used cars. I know for my first car i'd totally get a used old ram 1500. :D

  • Like teens can afford an Acura tsk. cr is getting worse and worse

  • @etoyotarockshsucks but look at the suprsing amount of rich people who buy there kids a new car. even these cars are kind of new i mean a lot of new cars for kids start at maybe 3,000

  • all asian cars. lol well except for vw choices. no bmw, no mb, no jag, no higher end caRS.

  • I wish yal had this in 2008 when I was 18.....

  • what about the toyota corolla s model

  • Well Consumer Reports doesn't usually rate American cars well.

  • I drive a 1999 GMC Jimmy and im 17 and its safe has ample power can haul five people. Has two airbags and ABS I don't see why parents would need to waste their money on their kids for them to have a safe car most of these cars were newer than 2006 which was a joke there is nothing wrong with a older model car.

  • Like a teen can afford an acura

  • what about the honda civic lol .

  • Finally 480p!!!

  • acura? you think they can afford that?

  • and... how did these cars perform in crash tests?..

  • @CDTbossey

All the cars you mentioned suck except the Fiesta hehe

  • i hate consumer reports.

  • I wouldn't spend that much on a car that will very likely be wrecked in a few years. Get an old Volvo from the 90s

  • "I'm Mike from JDM reports..." why only one American car? What about Dodge Avenger, Chevy Cobalt, Pontiac G5 and G6, Dodge Neon, Ford Fiesta, Chevy Malibu... so on...

  • @CDTbossy under 12 grand

  • @CDTbossy Dodge avenger is dieing, they discontinued the cobalt because it was crap, and pontiac was discontinued as well for good reason, neon...wow even the people who made neon dont even wanna associate with that car, fiesta is okay and malibu is for old people.

Lets just trust consumer reports, notice how chevy wasnt even in there.

  • @CDTbossy Out of all the cars you listed, only one of them is decent. The Fiesta is only decent one in your list, and American cars generally are much less reliable.

  • @CDTbossy

Because you want a good car. fiesta and cobalt are ok malibu decent a little expensive for a teen. Dodge avenger i have no respect for just like the dodge neon. You don't want a car that needs constant fixing.

  • @CDTbossy LOL that's all trash, that's no secret. Thankfully, most people knows this.

  • @CDTbossy

All those are good other then the Dodge Neon which is a death trap.

  • @CDTbossy

cuz most american car like shit !!!!

    btw i luv american car

ps: american car r made in Korea :P

  • @CDTbossy

cuz most american car like sh#@t !!!!

    btw i luv american car

ps: american car r made in Korea :P

  • @CDTbossy Are you serious? All the cars you mentioned are crap. America is starting to make some good cars again, but none of them are "cars for teens".

  • @CDTbossy umm. Have you seen crash tests for the Chevy Cobalt, Pontiac G5, and Dodge Neon?? I wouldn't put my enemy in those things.

  • @ihategeneralmotors Crash test results for the Chevy Cobalt aren't bad.

  • @CDTbossy what are u an idiot to recommend a dodge neon, that is least stolen car in the U.S.A mainly b/c it is a dodge & is just a cheap piece of shit to begin with for that matter. I would recommend a older model than what was suggested, like a 1995-2000 honda civic or accord.

  • You recommend the TSX but not the Accord? why?

  • You forgot the Accord, Civic, and Fit. They are a much better choice than a TSX, I like the Acura but your insurance will likely be higher and you have to put premium gas in it. Leave to Acura for people who just graduated college with a real job, I can't stand to see spoiled teens driving near luxury cars.

  • Who wants that many teens in a crossover? Right, they're better off always alone. Might as well get then straight on a motorcycle.

  • keep up the good work CR

  • I bought a late model VSC car for my 50+ year old mom for her crazy driving habits...

  • How about instead of shelling out for an expensive car like all the dealers want you to. Get rid of their cell phone.
