This brings me back to my childhood, watching this on the MSG Network, channel 30 here in NY. This time was the height of the WWF. At this time they had the BEST roster in WWF history. Its just crazy that these days are gone and we will NEVER see wrestling like this ever again....as a kid , these were the days you really "BELIEVED" ...Andre was the greatest of all time. Period.
Look at Andre down on that mat selling for King Kong Bundy. Babyface/heel Andre......two totally different styles. When Andre's a heel he doesn't leave his feet. You want him to appear indomitable in there. Babyface Andre will leave his feet and will sell for you. He'll get down on that canvas and take a beating for you if necessary depending on his opponent. Andre was a real pro in there. A real veteran.
a break back then when they showed up to a house show and they heard Andre was the head road agent. If Lanza or Chief Jay Strongbow had been a road agent back then, it would have been a different story. I don't know where Vince McMahon, Monsoon and Patterson came up with the idea to make Andre a road agent, but it cut the wrestlers a lot of slack back then and probably made it easier for them to work the house shows. Show up to a town, have your match, sign a few autographs and hit the bar.
In between working as a wrestler in 1984 Andre had starte working as a road agent for the WWF. Andre was a part time wrestler, part time road agent. Now obviously they didn't let him work for a road agent at MSG, but imagine showing up to a house show back then and hearing that Andre The Giant was a road agent. The WWF was running 2-3 shows a night back then. My understanding is that most of the wrestlers loved it, b/c all Andre would do is drink and play cards. The wrestlers were getting
@hoghash78 Yes. In the 70s Andre was extremely quick for a Giant. He moved around that ring with amazing speed. Well, Hogan wasn't on this show and Andre The Giant is still Andre The Giant, so if he would wanted to oversell Hogan, he could have done that.
@144church LOL. Gorilla Monsoon knows that better than anybody, as you can tell from his commentary. Anytime Albano went backstage, Gorilla must have breathed a sigh of relief.
Bundy always reminded me of Humpty Dumpty . . . Neither of these two looked like they spent too much time in a gym. Andre gave it his best even when he was in terrible pain - Bundy could always put on a good match - And could sell a move and had no problem putting over other guys. That's a pro. Hogan should have taken a page from either of these guys playbooks.

It was weird to see Lou's face turn, since he was the manager of evil for so long. He really did some of the best comedy spots of any WWfF manager and he bled more than all the others combined.
@GhostManBrandonDDpre: Well, for us 80s kids, Capt. Lou was both a wrestling legend & the real-life Mario (per The Super Mario Bros. Super Show), so it's no surprise that he was face.

@Wampaa Yeah, the intro was done by McMahon and it threw me off... it still works as a general statement, though.

Watch Andre....in his prime.
In the 1970s he was fast and had power.
The Andre in WM3 was not able to do what he did.
Andre had great skills when he was healthy, fortunately for us we can look it up.

skills? HAHA you dont really think it was even a bit real do ya?

For God sakes Studd put on his street clothes. He looks terrible. He should have come out in some gear instead to run interference.

This was 1985. Compared to 1987 and Wrestlemania III Andre could still move around that ring extremely well.

Andre in the 70 s
Was a monster. Big very big, and moved fast.
He was scary. And was great.
He moved with purpose.
You could never over sell Hogan at that time

I think Big Show was always faster and stronger than Andre, and in terms of wrestling skills Show surpasses him in that.

This is when Bundy was getting a major push. In the beginning of the match when he took a bump out of the ring, thats major for a guy that size.

@b12ian72 Yeah, but Bundy was very quick and light on his feet for a man that size. He could shrug that choke off easily.
