@immer030 the 3.0's are too flexible to put in the nike plus chip (that's what I think). but you can probably buy those small cases you put on the shoe lase on like amazon or something where you put the chip into the case.
@xVietxboix93 Try Free Run+2 -- having said that, I wouldn't run a marathon in those Nike Frees because I think I would definitely need more support for such a long distance. I envisage running a half-marathon, at most, with these shoes.
@mckln alright thats understandable. Well thanks for all your help. I will take care of these shoes and make sure they last longer than 7 months if i can haha.
cheers man! was just wondering because of the lack of support on the upper, I have a pair of nike prestos and they looked similar in the upper part style, and I no if I ran bends in my prestos il just go over on my ankle :(
@upbrownie22 Yes, I'm wearing them now because they are comfortable. I've also heard from a friend that the Nike Free Run+ is also a comfortable shoe.
@meadmans I don't think transitioning to the 3.0 would be challenging. I think the only difference between the 4.0 and the 3.0 is the 3.0's lower heel rise -- you'll be lower to the ground but, otherwise, your ride should feel the same.
Having said that, I've never run in the 4.0 (Free Run+).
i was looking between lunar elites and nike free run+ ... i already own a free 3.0s for sometime now but wanna upgrade to a stabler shoe ... so looking for ur comments on that
@noxiousnirvana Pick the Lunar Elites for stability. The Free Run+ is a very flexible shoe in the mold of the Free 3.0 but with a higher heel rise. On the other hand, the Lunar Elites provide a very firm ride with dynamic support; it's a shoe for pronators and neutral gait runners alike.
@mckln hey thanx . if i go with the free run+ do you think the higher heel rise might be an impediment to proper form. btw im a neutral gait runner and have run in 3.0s for almost a year.
isnt the free run+ being touted as closer to a 4.0 ... so i was thinking maybe thats what might be a good choice considering lunar elites have been called a foot grave. might they be too constrictive.
i can order online only hence the questions otherwise wouldve just tried :)
@noxiousnirvana If you need some sense of stability, you could try the Nike Lunar Swift, which notionally replaced the Nike Free 7.0 -- I'm not sure if transitioning from a 3.0 to a Free run+ (4.0) will provide any additional stability at all.
would you use this for spring training??
eokino 5 days ago
@eokino Yes, I use this shoe year-round.
mckln 5 days ago
@mckln oh sorry meant sprinting not spring
eokino 5 days ago
@eokino It's fine for sprint training, even 100s. But obviously, buy some spikes for racing :)

I don't think they are. If they were they would have a plus somewhere in its name. :)

Hey does anyone knows if the free 3.0 v2 are compatible with the nike plus chip / sportband? Thx
immer030 7 months ago
@immer030 I just checked and they aren't compatible; however, the version 3, Nike 3.0 was just released and they might be; I'll buy a pair and check!

I think you'll be fine running a half on 3.0s. Good luck!
mckln 9 months ago
@mckln Thank you. one more queston: how long have u had the 3.0?
xVietxboix93 9 months ago
@xVietxboix93 I've had the second version since September 2010; I bought two pairs and am on my second pair.
mckln 9 months ago
@mckln damn so they only last u about 7 months. Man u mustve ran alot with them.
xVietxboix93 9 months ago
@xVietxboix93 I put a few hundred miles on them: they wear down fast.

@ratzer11 For 200s, definitely; you might need more support when running 20k :)

@falafelstand I'm still wearing them; I've put between 300-400 miles on them and will switch to a new pair at around the 500 mile mark.
