  • There's something sinister about the ending, almost like a Twilight Zone episode. The opening title is very relaxing peaceful and quiet, and the close ending leaves us with careless laughter. That's a Twilight Zone episode in a nutshell.

    RIP Mr. Twittle

  • now i understand where homer simspon's "d'Oh" comes from xD but it was nice to see this cartoon again childhood memories :)

  • the funny thing is , I have not seen this in 20 yrs, and I suddenly remembered "Mr. Twittle", lol

  • Classic, Tex Avery is a legend.

  • not to sound crazy but i would've stabbed those two

  • тваю же ж мать! этот мульт искал ооочень давно! просто бомба!

  • I love this video. But I have always wondered since I was a kid why if it was a hotel that "prides itself with the quietness they maintain" there (1:43) would allow the good Dr. Jittery and his lady friend to play musical instruments and make as much noise as they do.

  • OkeH laughing record used, but, the animator drew a trombone, instead of a trumpet, LOL! Merrry Christmas, everybody!

  • why's Tex Avery is not making cartoons back in 1955?

  • used too scare me when i was little lol

  • I remember seeing this a long time ago. I could never remember the name, but I remembered the plot. I recognized one reused gag from earlier Avery cartoons: First, when he shoots the cannon and the bullet ends up going into his butt: same gag used in "Three Little Pups", with the man walking in the same fashion the wolf did, and draping the damaged trousers over the changing screen.

Another reused gag: sliding the "X" away from the intended target, as also seen in "Bad Luck Blackie."

  • haven't seen this in ages!

I will add the link to this in my animation forum!

  • Notice how at the end the hotel manager says nothing about being quiet to Twiddle?

  • good joke man!

  • i've searched and searched for this memory for so long, i love how the internet is a limitless hard drive extension to my brain

  • @GuitarFro92 which is probably why I don't watch tv anymore

  • O. MY. GOD. I NEVER THOUGHT I'D FIND THIS CARTOON ANYWHERE, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!! I'VE MISSED IT FOREVER

  • Jerks! LOL LOL LOL LOL! Why didn't the management say anything? LOL LOL LOL!

  • omg i totally forgot about this cartoon. i ised to love this one when i was a kid. thx for posting!

  • Perturbadoramente, engraçado!!!!!!!!!

  • Dicks just plain dicks lol

  • if he was my doctor i'd sue him.

  • THUMBS UP IF MS. SOUTHERN BROUGHT U HERE!

    NEUQUA VALLEY!!

  • Those people at the end are total assholes.

  • One of my favorite Cartoons Ever!!

  • The ending is a little sad.

Otherwise, one of Tex Avery's best! :)

  • I think they smoked a joint and got the giggles.

  • As much as I loved this cartoon from childhood, when I re-discovered this only yesterday it all-of-a-sudden wasn't that enjoyable, anymore. It's just too damned much like the apartment life I suffered for years. I'm not there anymore, but DANG, this is just soooo much like that. A-hole neighbors, carrying on and thundering around with loud music, etc in the middle of the night...this really brought it back. If apartment life bugs you too, get out! (I do still like this cartoon, though).

  • @ericallen1000 I think we all understand.

  • @ericallen1000 Perhaps the writer of the cartoon also suffered a similar experience?

  • Why are the doctor and nurse making noise in a place that want's 100% of peace and quiet?

  • @Matthewsmollen4 That's the whole point of the cartoon -- it's completely silly.

  • @ericallen1000 that's exactly right

  • @ericallen1000 Do the doctor and nurse know that the lodge want's 100% of peace and quiet?

  • @Matthewsmollen4 Sorry for not answering sooner. Yes, they probably know that the lodge wants total peace and quiet...but that's why the cartoon is completely silly. The people who tell you to get away from noise are MAKING the noise, in the very place they send you to get away from noise.

It's completely nonsensical, and funny because of it.

  • That little man should have gone to a rest home instead.

  • Huh

  • I have been looking for this cartoon for YEARS! #yes

  • i remember looking for this for years. i wanted it since i was 4

then i found out about OKEH LAUGHING RECORD ect...

    that was 20 years

    took me

  • This was really Tex's last cartoon? I didn't know that. I guess this one is a real treasure then. Big Thanks for posting this!

  • omg, and thats how they keep you patients for life

  • sorry panda rosa I have lol

  • yes yes I have rose lol

  • Does anybody know the title of the classical piece in the beginning? I may use that to fall asleep with. SHHHHH!!!

  • Good Joke there, doc.

  • A FEW YEARS AGO I SEARCHED HIGH, LOW, AND IN-BETWEEN FOR THIS HILARIOUS RIOT OF A CARTOON---COULD'NT FIND IT ANYWHERES. THEN I FOUND IT 2 YEARS AGO AS PART OF A $33 AMAZON.COM SALE OF CARTOON SHORTS, DID'NT GET AROUND TO BUYING IT. THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS CARTOON MASTERPIECE OF MOCKERY!

  • I bet the one person who disliked this has had a very similar experience ;-)

  • This is some funny I still laugh whenever I see this cartoon. One of my favorites of all time. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow, I'm surprised Dr. I.M. Jittery and the nurse weren't kicked out of that lodge for making so much noise!

  • The Okeh Laughing Record was made into a Walter Lantz cartoon in the 1950s

This exact recording was used (and credited) in the 1955 cartoon directed and written by Tex Avery, "Sh-h-h-h-h-h".

  • My 5 year old and I LOVE this movie, thanks for posting it, all the other ones we've seen are no longer available to watch. I also wanted to point out that yours is the best quality video I've seen on here, it's so clear and clean :)

  • Just about my favorite ... OffBeat Cartoon ... thanks!

  • that was just...c r e e p y

  • @opheliaroxs17 So you're the one that thumbed it down. I hate normal people like you, you're probably all smiley smiles in the morning aren't you?

  • @ColtraneTaylor not that it's any of your business but no I'm not the person who thumbed it down. I've long been a fan of Walter Lantz cartoons. I thought the end was creepy. You wanna know what I hate annoying pricks like you that need to get a life instead of bugging people.

  • @opheliaroxs17 Ok asshole, I won't bug you anymore.

  • @ColtraneTaylor damn right you wont

  • @opheliaroxs17 Both of you, please talk nicely!

  • @Stephen10528 Yea I was being a jerk, not cool of me = (

  • @ColtraneTaylor Both of you, please talk nicely!

  • @Stephen10528 Oh fack off!

  • @ColtraneTaylor I said talk nicely!

  • @Stephen10528 SH-H-H-H-H-H

  • WORST FUCKIN DOCTOR EVER!!

  • @marquis69crenshaw26

You got a point. Doc first tells the poor guy he needs absolute silence. Then he proceeds to check into the EXACT SAME PLACE as the guy, and start practicing the trombone! Conflict of interest, shall we say?

  • LMAO I CAN TELL WHY THAT CRAZZY CARTOON SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME WHEN I WAS A KID, THE LAUGHTER WAS SO SPOOKY. IT BUGGED ME SOO MUCH THAT AS A KID I REFFERED A SONG ANY DAY NOW WITH THE COUPLE AS IF TO FEEL THE NURSE SHOULD LEAVE THE DR FOR BEING SO MEAN. THEN IN SCHOOL I MADE MY OWN VERSION WITH 1 GIRL I MET BUGGING A STUDENT I DID NOT LIKE

  • Mr Twiddle let out a, "D'Oh!"

  • one of the best of all time! thank u TSJWHS.

  • FUNNY! Thank you!!

  • I admit I always felt sorry for the poor guy, just trying to get a little piece and quiet, only to have all that racket next door. Did the doctor and nurse ever realize what they must sound like, esp in a place with a reputation for silence?

On the other hand, maybe they were trying out the idea that laughter is the best medicine.

Poor guy must have gotten the cheap room -- no sound-proofing!

  • I remember this! It was a long time ago! :)

  • Oh how I LOVE this cartoon

  • Thanks, you saved my entire english class by posting this!

  • Thanks for posting this, hilarious from beginning to end!!

  • This cartoon looks like it could've easily been made at MGM

  • @wileyk209zback It was made by Tex Avery who was one of MGM's top animators, so you are right.

  • LOL AS A KID I WAS TERRIFIED BY THE LAUGHTER. THEN THE SONG ANY DAY NOW HAD ME HAVE A CRAZY THOUGHT THE WIFE LEFT THE DR AS IF SHE FELT SORY FOR MR TWIDDLE

  • Oh my GOD! I've been looking for this for years!!! Haven't seen it for probably 26 years or so!
