this is a great song. I am a hockey mom and I rarely get any credit for all the work I do. two boys both in different levels and sometimes it's hard to juggle. I listened to the zamboni's version of the song and it was a terrible sound recording. I couldn't really make out what they were singing. All the other hockey mom's have been telling me about this song. I can never catch it on the radio so it was nice to finally hear it for the first time. Thanks for the post.
Wow. I just wrote that I liked his cover of a song that my husband's band wrote & mentioned that it would have been nice if he hadn't politicized it (b/c they hadn't). His disc. is, "In honor of Gov. Sarah Palin, a cover of The Zambonis..." If he posted it w/out Palin mentioned we would not be here.
We still have the 1st Amend., right? I suppose he can say what he feels & I can say what I feel (& apparently so can you) whatever the forum...
I have no problem with anything you wrote, except for two things:
First, that you think it's "politicizing" to have a little bit of fun with something we have in COMMON.
Second, that you hate Sarah Palin just because you disagree with her. I wrote a new song, st06903, in honor of you, and others who feel as you do. I posted it last night. It's called "I Hate You." It's a song from your perspective.
Well, I was being sarcastic. And I mentioned that you used your chance to politicize Obama by mentioning that you were voting for him. This is much like Heart who made a stink over them using Barracuda at the RNC. I think it's just silly, honestly. Music speaks to all people in thousands of different ways. I wasn't attacking you and I am the most political person on youtube. Trust me.
st06903: cool! Say hi to them for me. I'm a big fan.
And many of my good friends are Obama voters. I tend to think this doesn't matter: we can all agree on how awesome hockey moms are, even if you don't want to vote for McCain/Palin.
I actually like Obama. Seems like a good guy. I just disagree with his policies. Plus, he can't skate or play guitar.
I didn't politicize it. That's what you're not getting, I think.
I am honoring a politician who is a hockey mom. I said nothing about voting for her, I said nothing about how this makes her qualified, I am just saying, hey that's awesome that we can have a hockey mom for a VP nominee.
I think being upset about it is what's politicizing it, not what I did.
I think you're not so naive to believe that by using the Palin name you are not politicizing it...
I don't find anyting honorable about Sarah Palin. I think she is a hateful, backward woman that will set the womens' right movement back about 100 years. Not to mention her ignorance on an international level and her frightening disregard for the environment.
Oprah politicizes her stage for one, and ditches the other. And in point of fact; you politicized THIS video by immediately pointing out who YOU were voting for.
Please, stop using youtube forums to talk your personal politics. It's un-American, and in appropriate.
"Please, stop using youtube forums to talk your personal politics. It's un-American, and in appropriate."
There's nothing un-American about it. It may be inappopriate, because it's so hateful of people who disagree, but it's not un-American. America is unfortunately all about hating people. And she has every right to express her views, and I welcome her views.
Forgive me, I should have been clearer. The performance is actually really nice. It's the Palin angle I was referring to. Unless you're being saracstic? Tell me you're being sarcastic!
Nah, not sarcastic. But not serious either. I like Palin, and I like the band, and I like the song. And the band told me that being a Hockey Mom is a plus for Palin.
Can't we have fun and a good time with music and politics without either being serious, or sarcastic? Isn't there room in between?

I never personally attacked either of you...

I'm a hockey mom - actually a hockey mom married to one of the founders of the Zambonis. We are voting for Obama.

I am not naive at all. I am stating a fact: I am not politicizing it.
And that you think she is hateful is sad. She's not. You, unfortunately, are.

He can politicize what he wants to.
Every Obama supporter on youtube does.

I know you do. I was being sarcastic in my delivery. Was it really that unapparent?

Well, it IS a YouTube comment. Not the best forum for clear representations of thought.

Not, apparently, on the internets.
