Just yesterday I saw one of these at about 30 or 40 feet or so in DC. It came in along the Potomac, swung around the Lincoln Memorial, and disappeared. Few minutes later, it comes back and gets close enough I can see the rivets. Truly a beautiful aircraft.
He flies over my house all the time. They fly between camp david and andrews air force base. You can hear them 10 miles out - whap whap whap whap whap whap. High impact blade slap noise!

Check out "Barry's solo" video, you will be able to hear him make radio calls inbound for the airport.

These are still the RNZAFs primary utility helicopter. Real archaic machines but they always get the job done.

very sweet video. Yes that sounded awesome. Did you get the tail number? was this bird owned by the government or individual?
