S.A.S are a group of the finest Army personnel from he U.K. They are the worlds "elite combat squad" delta force are a load of toss in comparison to the SAS they have no training whereas the SAS have dealt with some of the worlds most delicate and volatile crisis' its obvious that they are the best in the world. if delta force are so good why did they fail at something the SAS would have done in minutes. (operation eagle claw) google it.
Operation Eagle claw was carried out when Delta was newly formed, the mission failed because of several factors not related to anything Delta did, it was the aircraft and their crew that failed. JSOC was created as a result and Delta learned from the mistakes.
Eagle claw was also more complex and difficult than any mission the SAS has ever attempted. Only the Israeli raid at Entebbe comes close to the level of difficulty, so you dont know how the SAS would have fared.

Imagine the surprise of the pilots in the formation when a very British controller said "we have you identified on Radar 50 miles west of Brawdy" So much for stealth!

A none stop flight, display and without landing, back to its US base. The Show commentator told us it was running in for its display, and watching from a trade chalet nothing, no B52. According to the US Federal Procurement Report BAE ranked 10th in US military contracts, the top 9 being all US companies: Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop, General Dynamics, Raytheon, ect..If BAE made 54% they would EASILY be #1 beating everyone else combined!, yet Lockheed made over 35 billion from US contracts compared to only 6 billion be BAE!

@trpilot6 I think you will find that MES, TRACOR and Lockheed Martin Aerospace are all BAE companies, but retain their name, as is Bradley Defence a BAE company! There are many. in 2010, BAE was about 12 in the league of DoD suppliers, now it is ranked about 8 or 9 in the league table. Go and look at the DoD supply contract bulletin!

Operation Eagle claw was carried out when Delta was newly formed, the mission failed because of several factors not related to anything Delta did, it was the aircraft and their crew that failed. JSOC was created as a result and Delta learned from the mistakes.
Eagle claw was also more complex and difficult than any mission the SAS has ever attempted. Only the Israeli raid at Entebbe comes close to the level of difficulty, so you dont know how the SAS would have fared.

@maddmarine03 i admire your patriotic duty to your country but let us not forget that the sas carried out a succesful mission in the aden emergency which is deemed as one of the most volatile small eruptions of battle in military history, 2,096 were killed. 39 british and the rest insurgents. i respect that delta force are very good. but the big boys are the SAS founded earlier and have made more contribution to anti-terrorism than delta force. :) nothing against the u.s

@maddmarine03 I agree, you cannot compare like with like but the SAS have carried out various complex and successful missions nevertheless, such as the one in Sierra Leon in 2000.
Delta made mistakes but like any infant, you learn from them and that's what Delta did.
The success in the raid of Bin laden's compound under the noses of the Pakistan military was proof that they have indeed learned.
