  • Sick Bassline

  • I think I got a boner

  • I remember buying Theres the Rub back in the 70's-real good laid back listening!!

  • great comment AdlerMow where are you ? I play guitar and would really love to take this idea forward if you were interested .I,m Scotland

  • What we need to do is spread the word to our brothers abroad ie Afganistan,Iraq,Iran ,Pakistan,India and hope they will pass on some of their good music back to us .Can you imagine wishbone ash influences mixed with eastern ? Please get in touch anyone who is remotely interested ?

  • @carnwath Yes, i could imagine. I dont know what can i do for this cause, but i know easterners do love good rock, and good metal too. In a matter of fact, i wold love to hear this kind of mix. Remembers me of another day, when i was thinking bout how a mix of flamenco and metal would sound. Like to imagine fingerstyle playing in an electric guitar, followed by traditional gypsy singing and dancing. And let not forget, the amazing bass lines like this other musics from Wishbone Ash. Daydreaming!

  • Great to hear Germans and other euoropeans loving wishbone ash ,and it is no surprise to me why they do . They are a great band who have always had a unique sound and will always appeal to Scottish ,German ,Dutch ears . Oh and I forgot to mention ,they are English .lol

  • just gets better every time i hear it

  • @leto1988 It was a compilation CD. But I think my favorite is Argus. So far I haven't heard any that I don't like!

  • This band I've seen ten times, first when I was fourteen, now I'm fiftytwo. Andy Powell is the head of this rockgroup, and it's one of the best ever – no question. I'm from Germany and next they will be at the Festival 'Spirit of 66' in Verviers (Belgium) on the 11th of January in next year, while Wishbone Ash, especially Andy Powell on guitar, exist already since 42 years. Congratulations to all, who found that band here for the first time: your opinions are right!

  • Absolutely great. I was 16 again for 9 and a half minutes. 53 now & I wanna be a guitar-player when I grow up all over again.

  • yoou got me. awsome band.

  • Just fantastic!

  • i'm 61 and been listening to these guys since the early 70's. they still kick ass

  • @tomkat52804 beat you I am 63 and I still love them

  • Brilliant!

  • hmm, still nice song but the bass isn't heavy enough in the beginning should a little bit tougher to grab the feel from studio version

  • Tranquille, pas la grosse tetê, pas seulement des supers guitaristes, mais surtout de belles mélodies , chants, etc!

  • doesnt sound like a song to me jaroWKR ....more like an instrumental mate

  • agree with dandeexxxx , we def do xx

  • have a listen to some of the other versions of this on you tube this is def the best . Laurie Wisefield was on the original there,s the rub version

  • its not Ted Turner , doesnt Andy say " featuring Bob Skeech" ? .......anyone know? dont agree with the comment about the bass player , sounds pretty cool to me .

  • what a band ,certainly went a long way in influencing me . i joined the wishbone ash fan club in 1976 and still use a lot of their licks now . Bob plays well with andy , in fact its my favorite wishbone ash line up.

  • I thought the long-haired guitarist was Ted Turner

  • very bad bass playing , he killed this great song

  • EXCELLENT WISHBONE ON AIME SON STYLE DEPUIS LONGTEMPS !!

  • i just discover this band lately. they are very good, real musician

  • Going to see them in Frome Somerset this weekend- cant wait!

  • Wow, i haven't seen these guys in a long while, uh 69 at Sky River Rock Festival. They were ahead of their time. Now that I listen to this I can hear influences in my band, in our songs, "Tears" by Medicine Road. Check us out. We're new. Check out our other tune while your at it, "Mother Earth Prayer".

  • Good Composers and good Musicians, they simply represent the spirit of music and what i miss today. I agree with you newdosmerudos.

  • oh man these guys played the local venue in my hometown Barrow-in-furness just before christmas. My dad went but i didn't and i am gutted as fuck. apparently, they were tight as hell, and Muddy was on fire. Why do record companies not prommote songwriting of the quality anymore? I mean, i know they want to make as much cash as quickly as they can. It just seems like they resent bands who acually have a decent shelf-life.

  • Excellent rendition!

  • Guess this is proof who the mastermind was behind this awesome song!

  • I had learned all the Wishbone Ash harmony parts with another guitar player until I was sidetracked to an original band that went to NY in '77. Way to go Andy! I miss the old lineup with Ted, but this guy does a great job ..Martin's version was just OK in his band, but this was on the money!

  • kak-attak

  • I think that andy powell has a great ear for music, and his guitar playing is superb

  • Cool! U Tube's been really joggin my memory lately this is another great tune i forgot about. Thanks!

  • This is the GUITAR SHIT. I'm a drummer, but I know this is the GUITAR SHIT.

  • whats that mean, doggie boy?

  • I´m a Drummer too (since 1980).

This is the most played Guitar-Session in all my remembers.

Don´t you call it shit until you are about to do it better .................

  • Ok dude. There is a misunderstanding here, and I take the responsibility, because my parents taught me to be a gentlemen. I said Guitar Shit in a complementary way. You know how Miles called the great Tony Williams a "motherfucker?"

It's alright, it's my fault for phrasing it incorrectly. But honestly, I was praising this performance. I saw this DVD and it served as a good introduction to the music of Wishbone Ash.

  • Accepted.

And nice to hear from you....

  • "Gentlemen" do not write "sh%%" or "mother%%%%%%" in comments.

  • Yes, Mein Fuhrer!! Oops! My bad, hehe

  • Wishbone ash are an amazing band...They are so under-rated!

  • People who comment on Ash songs are usually musicians and know your shit. Thanks!

  • this band kicks ass-we need this today

  • bello beau beautiful tempus fugit es como un 777 a punto de despegar o el soundtrack de un thriller es musica de vida de pileta de sonrisa de beso de joint de humo azul que escribe secreto en el viento grandioso

  • huh?

  • Translate it from Spanish, the general jist is 'it's a beautiful piece of music'. You get the idea...

  • comin to my town in may :P

gonna be fun, for my and my 16 year buddies :)

  • Geil !!

Seit 30 Jahren gibt es kein besseres Instrumental.

  • Gschicht wo wo zur Legende gworde isch , Kult eifach !!!!!!!!

  • Ive seen these guys 6 times-Id go tomorrow. One of the best ever.

  • i agree with a cpl of the answers i've read on here. FUBB i was told when "THERE'S THE RUB" came out meant just that...fucked up beyond belief. the jamming doesn't start till 6:25 into the song but it's still a great song. Rock on!

  • Is that Muddy Manninen, the other guitarist?

  • nope- i forget his name, but he is 2 guitarists ago.....muddy is in the current ash-

  • It's Mark Birch that you see here; he left in2001.

  • thanks man

  • My favorite band muzic. :)

  • I'm going to see them live tonight!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes, am same age as Steady Steve (above) and have revered the band since their first album, and, as a guitar player, picked up a lot of emotive style from Andy Powell.

Love FUBB - from that growly bass, to the brilliant flying leads later. VG.

So great that they're still playing, but sorry about the split.

Think this live version lacks oomph, and I think it's 'cos the drummer should "push" it more, rather than apparently following the leads.

But still - this is Andy and the Ash. Rock on!

  • I love wishbone ash-what year was this concert?

  • This was for the 30th anniversary gig, Shepherd's Bush Empire, London in 2000.

  • a beautiful Theatre that is!!!

  • Great band, great music ...

    keep on playing guys

  • I'm 58.These guitars in F.U.B.B. are some of the best reasons I became a guitarist. They've inspired me for more than 4 decades. All time great rock band.-d.z.

  • wow I remember nodding off into dreamland to this and hey I still live, where were you tomorrow lol

  • a result of a jam in the studio, ever a fine song, fine bass work as ever by bob skeat, i have no words

  • A tremendous performance of an awesome track

  • awesome!!!

  • Stone cold classic.

  • wish they would come to australia. i love W.A.

  • Fantastic great song tight players mellow moody, yet heavy and totally rockin!! and very well played what more could you ask for..... Rock on Wisbone Ash... we need you !

  • WA is one of my all-time favorite bands.Appearing with Crack the Sky in Philadelphia on May 4th.Oh and BTW, What does F.U.B.B. stand for? Fucked up beyond belief...

    It's military slang.

  • they unjustifiably got slated for their fourth album, women went to gigs just to throw their bras at ted one thing led to another and he left, citing musical differences.they went to some island to regroup and decide where to go next they said they were FUBB just before laurie joined and they again got their act together

  • Brilliant version - very faithful to the original.

  • Check out the new version of F.U.B.B. from Martin Turner and his superb band, "Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash". Absolutely superb and with far more depth and feeling. Martin and his band gel together very well. Martin himself, has a This version is good but a little too clinical.

  • Martin is currently touring with his band and we saw him on November 15th 07, in Southampton. His band have also recently released a new Live Dates Album, volume 2, after successfully releasing Live Dates Volume 1. Martin, as original founder, vocalist, bassist and the creator of Argus is for me, Wishbone Ash, and always will be. He was the creative force behind much of their classic tracks. It would be lovely, though to see the original line up again, live.

  • Check out the new version of F.U.B.B. from Martin Turner and his superb band, "Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash". Absolutely superb and with far more depth and feeling. Martin and his band gel together very well. Martin himself, has a very good rapport with his fans. This version is good but a little too clinical.

  • 2008 will see the release of a new re-vamped version of Argus, and this will be performed in it's entirety along with other material on Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash Tour.

  • I'll make an effort to catch them sometime this year. I wanted to see Andy's version of the band at the Cropredy Festival this summer but got a drunk and wasn't able to navigate my way out of the pub in time.

  • Brilliant to see Bob cutting this for the real deal! - Wishbone Ash!

  • Great band. I miss the line up of Powell,Turner, Turner and Upton.

  • Has someone hacked your profile to send this, or are you a natural born spamming cunt?

  • im older and have seen prett much everybody. ive seen these guys 6 times and they were so far ahead of their time. They are fabulous!

  • "frontpage news"

    one of my favorite albums

this song ... i hear it over and over :)

  • Also saw this tour, they put on a great show and its nice to see they are still going.

  • Such an underrated band. Some parts sound like they inspired Metallica. I swear on Fade to Black the verses sound almost the same as Throw Down The Sword

  • In fact it's the other way around: Metallica was inspired by WA! Did you know that even The Eagles were inspired by the twin guitars of WA!

  • Super performance! From which tour is this from? Which year?

  • 2001 would be my best guess - maybe earlier

  • 30 year annivercery concert
