Superb/Super/Tremendous/Characterful/Very Individualistic....All the Qualities that fill the void in the soul's search for euphoria etc... & by the way can anyone else please download anything by this wonderful YJB?? There were other tracks issued on the Tempo label. (When the Roll is called up Yonder???? is one I'm looking for.)
Just the sort of rather odd, human thing that the Web is great for. A wonderful recording, and somebody in Hong Kong liked your pictured. How about that.
Hi Dad! Thanks for the posting. It sure brought back happy memories for me in those glorious early jazz revival days. I used to follow the music of Bob, Dickie and Diz etc. when I was in the R.A.F and I was just starting to learn trumpet. Still enjoying this great music here in British Columbia,Canada, but it will never beat those early days when we formed our first band and went right through the trad.jazz era.Hope the Fox & Hounds guys beat the Eggheads!! Cheers!

This is wonderful. I wish there were a 'super like' button to push. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this here.

Gosh this took me back years. We always enjoyed the odd visit of the YJB to the London Jazz Club. What a superb tuba player was Bob Barclay.

Great to hear Dick Hawdon play!
He was my trumpet teacher at Leeds College of Music.
Sadly Dick passed away in June- but the jazz lives on!

Haven't heard an original recording of my father (Dick Hawdon) in the YJB before! Excellent quality - how did you do that?
Ed O'D, I believe, is still playing at places around Leeds occasionally, but not as much as he used to.
My father recently celebrated his 80th where some 'Jazz luminaries' played at his party. Strictly modern I'm afraid!
Alan Cooper sadly died in August - plenty of obits in the press.
Keep listening to trad!!!

Both tracks were from my '78' bought in the fifties. Transferred to the PC via an 'ION' USB Turntable and enclosed software.

Ed O'Donnell is still a bit round but has lost a little weight so not as round as he was.

Eddie O'Donnell was still playing in 1993 - see Barnsley Jazz Festival - Part Three. Is he still around?
