@DJJMeJaim Ohhhh going to check them out now :) I'm excited about this year. Found out there's a pirate gift shop on the water in Seattle that has all kinds of cool stuff. Plus my new boyfriend's a big Halloween nut so I'm sure he'll be helping me really make it nuts this year :)
@evilportrait He broke last year :( Fell off the nail I had him hanging on and his jaw broke off. I need to buy a new one. He wasn't that expensive - like $14.99 at Target. Can't wait till this year cuz my boyfriend is a HUGE Halloween fan and I didn't know his last Halloween :)
@Ferretocious no they are not he ones in stores. they are the 12 foot props you see at spirit. he has 2 redwoods in his front yard and at the bottom of the hill. he has 2 motors on each one wired to each other. they go up and down the hill.
Wonderful! I love how your house is situated SO high up! The trick-or-treaters must feel like they are going up to the crow's nest on a real pirate ship! You have done an amazing job with your pirate theme! The kids must LOVE coming to your house! I really hope you get alot of trick-or-treaters, too!
Thanks :) I really wish I had the budget to build some sort of bow coming off the front of my deck. I should make my goal for next year that I'm dating a carpenter LOL
I have a great 180 degree view of the Cascades from up there - Mount Baker, Mount Pilchuck, Glacier Peak. But mowing the grass is a bitch. I have to use the grass trimmer and balance like a mountain goat on that steep slope LOL
Although a bow coming out of your deck would probably be awesome, I really do think that you have achieved the effect of a pirate ship! I think a great part of the appeal of your house is the sense that the trick-or-treater is on an adventure to get their candy! Climbing the stairs, all the twists and turns! What's gonna happen next! It's fun!
He's the SCARIEST of all LOL I should leave a chair there so they can watch the trick-or-treaters. One of the trick-or-treaters saw Penny last year and went "Whoa - your kitty lost its face!" ha ha ha
Whereabouts? I'm actually not FROM Washington. Was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada and raised in the Boston, MA area and South Florida. Moved up to the Seattle area three years ago.
Thanks! I just saw a Martha Stewart show and she was making these light stick/glow bracelet spiders with styrofoam balls. Now I want to make some LOL They'd be quite climbing up my slope.
LOL "Dear Laura. WHY ARE YOUR DECORATIONS NOT UP????" I just got over three weeks with the flu! I really wanted to get the decorations up Oct 1st so they'd be up all month.
LOL Great decorations. So who enjoys the it more; the kids or you? lol I have a jack-o-lantern I used to set in the window until the apt manager said we couldnt decorate anymore. :(
One kid said "It's not very scary!" last year LOL We have lots of kids in my neighbourhood. Usually have 50-60 kids. This year there's a show in Portland but I can't not be here. So my friend is coming up from Seattle to enjoy the trick-or-treaters then we're leaving the house around 5AM to head down to Portland and do one day of the show.

The Pirate Head at 4:20 is one of my favorites; he's nice and loud! He's lasted a few years now.
Nice decorations!

my brothers house is situated on a hill. and he has these things on a zip line that look like they are flying up and down the hill.

@teecee2468 Yeah I saw those at stores but it looks like they don't like to go up inclines - only side to side. Did he make a custom thing for this?
