funny to see that many people really didn't even got the message from this video, and started bringing out their personal issues with immigrants, I mean, bottom line, whoever is poor, its because it has chosen to, if a person from another country can make it in this land? how come I can't? the only difference is that he has a mind set and a goal, he went after it, and I was used to the system that had made me a lazy worthless human. Wealth is out there, willingness to go and get it is not.
why are you american so tied about illegals working in your country when in fact those companies can get penalized for hiring illegals, why would a Canadian wish to work under the table or at low wage to avoid paying tax in America? when he or she can work in Canada? this is the arrogance i don't seem to understand, your water sucks, your air sucks, you are over populated, you target brown people Muslims and forget their nationality, why to live with fear of IRS or INS or FBI or HMS i mean wtf
Sen Barbara Jordan led a BiPartisan commission in 1995 to find solutions to immigration, Her commission came up with real solutions, like an ID card to be used in applying for jobs & benefits. Her ideas were attacked by the usual anti American traitors and in its place they only suggest another amnesty. Don't be fooled, educate yourself on immigration and how it is a tax on the working poor and helping to wipe out the middle class. Go to numbersusa or vdare for good info.
That 65,000 has been more than sufficient to undermine American workers in the Technical and Engineering trades. Also, the bulk of persons holding "advanced degrees" from places like India get an education which is about as good as you'd think a degree from India would actually be. The U.S. Tech sector knew this as early as 1989, right about the time that interest in technical and engineering fields among U.S. College students was skyrocketing, so they went before congress and lied
under oath, alleging both declining interest in technical fields among U.S. Students, and the "high quality" of technical education in places like the Philippines. This is how H-1B came to pass. They discovered it was cheaper to take people with substandard or possibly fraudulent education from Cavite and bring them over for 20 K a year than to pay an American 100 K a year and up
we did quite well for ourselves for years without foreign doctors, software programmers, teachers, and outsourcing. Somewhere along the line, foreigners, corrupt politicians, and greedy industry leaders induced a true self-hatred complex in the American people which advanced the nation-wrecking neo-liberal agenda. They convinced the hardest working, most productive and high skilled labor force on the planet that they were "weak and lazy, and earned too much money."
they got us to give up our Union shops, our middle class incomes, our health insurance, our pensions, all in the name of competing with an imagined super human workforce from abroad who were Gods at all things math and science. It's a myth. I've been to Asia several times, It's a shit hole and always will be, we should strongarm every U.S. based corporation into totally divesting themselves of their foreign holdings, back out of all trade agreements, end visa labor completely
and impose record setting taxes upon any and all foreign goods or raw materials which can be produced domestically within the United States. If I sound like a radical nationalist of some type, keep in mind that the "Asian Tigers" perpetually hold us to a double standard. The Japanese would never tolerate being fleeced by mercantilism but we're expected to put up with it in the name of the "free market" cult. No thanks.
You have a really good point there about the upper-echelon people. They have less incentive to come here because they have to be legal to do their thing, which essentially means needing government permission. Yet, why? So some competing American can't lose his job? Well, it slows down those American companies from suffering from not have the best they can hire. That hurts everyone. Yet the poor have to compete with the illegals unlike the rich. It's essentially protectionism...
WE NEED TO TOTALY CLOSE OFF OUR BORDERS AND MAKE ALL OUR COMPANIES COME HOME.STOP FEEDING THE WORLD,MAKE OUR OWN STUFF.FUCK THE REST OF THE WORLD.bECAUSE THEY ARE FUCKING US.we NEED TO GET OUR GUNS GET ON THE BORDER ANDBARRY SOME FELLONS.
smart people from Asia will work for the raise of Asia....instead...and please fire 35 % of INDIA scientists from NASA...aslo 45 % of ur doctors from INDIA...and rebuild ur heath-care with 45% less doctors....
and stop faking a currency ($) that worth equal to toilet paper and i assure u no one will want to come to USA....
and please stop sending troops to innocent countries...and stop sending nuclear weapons to unstable countries like Pakistan..
Dumd Dumb, it's not only Eurpean, Indian and Chinese individuals. I bet you don't even know that American professionals displace many citizens in other countries of the world...Cry Baby! My advice to you travel outside the US for your share of the global cake. Many foreign companies are willing to pay 3x what you'll earn if you remained in the US, simply because you're American. **Coming from a worldwide citizen who has lived in all continents
The biggest users of H!b are the domestic Indian outsourcing companies; only 5-10% of H1Bs come from countries other than China or India. Displacement of native by H1B is a proven fact; that why theres an H1B and L1 Visa Fraud Prevention Act - which will become part of any immigration bill that Obama signs.
Ten years of guest workers have FAILED to create the jobs promised, they have RUINED the once-great American economy, they have DESTROYED the CA economy. CA is going BANKRUPT. How much worse does it have to get before slack-jawed Linux commies like this moron GET IT. It's the FAKING FRAUDS from India that have caused this economic mess.
stop sending ur stupid companies to the world to exploit them...
india chaina ,bangladesh amazon(africa)....
u name it and American companies are every where..selling guns.....so that people can kill each other and then america can go in drop a bomb and loot that country ...America only makes weapons....check ur history my friend...
AMERICA MAKES TOOLS,ELECTRONICS. IN FACT AMERICA CAN AND DOES MAKE ANYTHING WE NEED.WE FEED 60%OF THIS PLANET.THE ONLY REASON WE BUY YOUR CHEAP SHIT IS SO WILL HAVE ATLEAST SOME WORK.AND YES WE MAKE GUNS.AND YES FUCK WITHUS AND WE WILL DROP A BOMB ON YOUR ASS.bUT LETS GET THIS CLEARED UP IF WE HAD TO WE COULD CLOSE OFF OUR BOARDERS AND GET ALONG JUST FINE WITHOUT ANY OTHER COUNTRY.tHAT IS IF WE STOP ALL THEIS DAMED LEACHES FROM COMMING HERE SO WE CAN PAY OFF CHINA.ANOTHER TRADE DEFICIT .
I totally agree with you. NIKE makes tennis shoes for $3 in sweat shops in asia, and sells them for $100 and you morons can't get enough of them! stop spending your hard earned money at WAL-MART for cheap asian crap. stop patronizing busnesses that hire illegals!
This video is unabashed malarkey. H1-B Visas are hurting US engineering and depressing US wages. Fact is US companies do not pay for US students... easier to hire someone from India that got their PhD there or was a foriegn student on fUS ederal subsidy. Is this hurting the US economy? NEA., Barney Frank and company have hurt the US economy. H1-B is cheap engineering labor. A Software coder is not the exceptionally talented! - they are a dime a dozen.
What about the HSB visa, All that visa does is let you get a low paid job for two months so you can meet Americans while your on holiday and get paid, after the job has been advertised to Americans with no takers, these have now been scrapped, Yet if i want to pay £500 i can enter the "green card lottery".
U now peolpe will come here its the best place in the world but all that bullshit is what keeps as back from realy being the best place u now if peole for latino amremca were given real visa they would go back home u now y cuz thos peolpe would feel better at home Just like as like they say thirs no place like Home and thats for reals cuz peolpe like coming back home no one is looking to steele the USA dream its just that peolep like being hater better then helping the USA
Don't get it from where u study economics!! Inflated salaries and infrastructure both need to go down, if u want to stop immigration. People won't leave their countries, if they are not getting any benefit. U don't want to comply with either situation.
US immigration policies really suck at this moment especially for the technically skilled workers. Citizenship is given to people of Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, And students from India and China, who study here on scholarship are sent back, Who will suffer at the end!! IBM and Microsoft are taking their high end research based jobs in Asian countries.
it looks like only Indians get visas. It is a strange situation. Other people from other countries who would like to come legally will be treated different than Indians who come on fake H1B Visas.
Same rules should apply for each country but that's not the case.
Does everyone know who Kamar Aulakh is? He is the faking Indian conman grifter who nearly destroyed software powerhouse Quark. He was a tester who conned the board into making him CEO. He became CEO, laid off all the American developers who built Quark, and sent all the work to some mud puddle Indian village. The company almost went under as a result. The board finally found him out and fired him but the product had been destroyed. Google on "Quark Debacle".
How is the environment affected by increased population in the U.S.? Cite any evidence. Is the evidence strong enough that guns need to be pointed at humans who are only trying to do business with other humans? The biggest polluter in the world is the government. Do you want the biggest polluter to be in charge of the environment? Seriously, show the studies that give the optimum population of our landmass. There are countries that are doing fine with twice the population density of the U.S.
Mortison: I disagree on principle, on moral, and on utilitarian grounds. And that's a lot of grounds, my friend. Morally, no one can force a person to not freely associate with another person.
-
It makes perfect sense from an "economic point of view". It is a responsibility of the employer to hire the person who will work the hardest for the least amount of money. It makes no sense whatsoever to only hire people who have been documented by the federal government. Competition = good.
Mortison: My nation's forefathers abandoned "their own countries". They did it for freedom and, yes, "monetary gain". And it sounds like you were educated in a socialistic government school system. Nobody can "steal" a job. One's job does not belong to one. The job belongs to the employer and he can give it to anyone he so chooses. Or do you think employers should be the slaves of the precious mommy gov't?
I agree. We need educated and hard working new Americans not unskilled laborers without a high school degree who are easily swayed to commit crimes and use our community services. Take Asians for example, they are our model ethnic minority.
America needs to get tough on immigration. If we adopt the laws Mexico has we would have no problem. I love legal immigrants of all races but I hate illegal immigrants. Many Illegals do not care about America and take advantage of our health care system. It is not prejudice to want illegals out of our country. It starts with all of us contacting our government officials and letting them know enough is enough! Trust me if we do not do it now we are going to be in big trouble in many ways!!!
Why can't we train smart laid off Americans to work these jobs which would help fuel back the economy instead of trying to protect low income jobs from undocumented workers? Are we doing the math right? We are destroying our middle class with our own stupidity, if we would have it your way, every American would have a job at McDonalds and Home Depot, but jobs at Microsoft would be filled by "super dooper skilled workers". Good train of though.
I like to punch this guy face. Most of these people are very nice and work hard. Is not their fault they have no education and if we can give them an apportunity then we should. Amrica economy is very well and if would be nice if you could just pay a little more of tax to help other human being. When I saw wall-e I thought that is exactly how most Americans are, finally someone say it.
deportocarx... ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID???? There are over 20 million illegals here, they cost far more than what they contribute, they degrade whole neighborhoods, they are a major cause of crime (Over 30% in prison are illegal), They have a negative impact on the public education system and they are already the majority in many of the southwest & western states, and will soon be majority in the USA. Wake up!!!!! grow some balls you pussy.
Woa Woa hold on your horses! First of all who in the hell cares about the sizes of the stock markets in a global world? Have you heard about our derivative markets? There is not correlation between the skilled workers we "don't have" and the size of the stock markets. Have you heard about how two years ago Hong Kong over passed New York as the larger worldwide IPO issuing?
Tell your foreign college graduated friend to go back home.
Absolutely, wogsland, if reform is not made now to make it easier for people to come here, the economy will continue to sink miserably. Thre crowd pushing for restriction and enforcement is to blame for the non passage of the bills requiered to make the legal process smoother, yo are absolutely right.
One expansion of this thought:.. We have hundreds of thousands of unfilled positions in nursing and engineering in this country. Many of these positions NEED to be filled by foreign nationals because we do not have enough U.S. CITIZENS graduating with these degrees and entering the field. This country is NOT served by having these positions go unfilled. If we cannot get adequate medical care and if we cannot innovate in this country, we are screwed blue, ladies and gents.
"Free movement" of everything = ever increasing dependency on global supplies of everything - our globalist business high rollers can't tie their shoes without the cheapest global supply of xyz. Well guys what happens if you get cut off from xyz? Are you innovative enough to function in a "real" shortage? Can you make do with Rosie the Riviter and the dirty dozen and make it work no matter what like our "Greatest Generation" did?
Here is a guy who is expounding on the virtues the H-1B program because he is caught up in the coporate mentality.
It is like he was vacinated by Bill Gates with a corporate phonograph needle. Wait until he is a seasoned vet at 50, corporate America fires his ass, and he becomes a raving lunatic screaming about his unemployment insurance and his high interest credit card rates...LOL. Welcome to the REAL America Bunky!
I have some advice for you...Stop wearing your ass for hat.
Hey wog... This has to be the most illogical defense of the H1-B program I have heard yet. Why don't you actually do some research on a topic before you spout off about it. Or at least read someone else's research. If there is such a dire shortage, why are real-dollar wages for engineers declining? Why are companies hiring law firms to give them advice on how NOT to hire qualified and interested US citizens? The average H1-B holder is just that: AVERAGE. They are not the best and brightest.
Hi, You are right, being a intl student myself, I have seen companies at various career fairs saying no for H1B sponsorship. So where are these claims of JOBS LOST for Americans coming from. If someone wants to stop use of H1B then stop those who use it through consultancies not for intl students who come here, study in Univ here, have adv degrees. I have seen myself how difficult it is to get a job, being an Intl Student. So how can Americans loose jobs if we are not getting one.
When the US falls in line with open border doctrine it'll be after the micro-chip implant has been perfected. We have too many illegal "citizens" that were deported and return to victimize us. I look forward to a time when the world has no borders and I can walk to Africa, Australia, Europe. Until then, the last thing I want to see is illegal immigrants protesting their rights have been violated. They have only one right... to be deported! You go Sheriff Joe Arpaio!
Not sure if that was appended with a question mark. But, yep, I think implementing the "New Agenda for America" is VERY possible. Even if it is not, most Americans support all planks and it is worth our effort to promote NAA.
The "New Agenda for America" is a far better idea than continuing to allow foriengers into the country to take our jobs, buy our businesses and colonize us: as you seem to suggest.
This year I won H1B visa lottery thanks to my CV and past merits, and hope to be ultimately a USA citizen one day. As a gifted young Moroccan student I got a scholarship in Paris France where I had my master engineering degree from Ecole Central. After 10 years of successful carrier, I have decided to immigrate to USA. Why? Because I was surrounded by people like you. Today who is the real looser? USA, Morocco, France?
adamabh, when you say that you won a lottery "due to merits," your phraseology includes a reference to "immigrate" from France to the USA, and you apparently are unable to spell the word "loser" correctly, I think that the winners are Morocco and France. Why don't you learn the language you are using to some extent prior to divulging your extremely high level of achievement to the world in your flawed English?
sdano07, I imagine you have tried hard but your are still limited to spell checks. Thank you anyway LO.SER ! I will be working harde now on my English to be perfectly trilingual in 2008!!. How many languages do you speak in this 21st century? anonymous H1B winner I wasn't showing off !? You should not fear people like me. We are not here for your job. If I earn 150kusd/y it is for some merits, isn't it? Sdano07, being nice and not aggressive is the hard part. Lets try it tomorrow, would you?
I am glad to see that you felt compelled to respond to my post. I want you to display your analytical abilities and to air your opinions. Please continue to do so; it's the best support that anyone could provide for my side of this discussion.
sdano07, I agree completely. This guy adamabh is babbling incoherently. Let's just hope he wasn't hired by a defense contractor to build military systems that the country will need to rely on in times of political turmoil.
You need more information prior to coming out with these generalized statements. I can understand that, since you work at SLAC, you are probably seeing some of the benefitsof the H-1B program. The high-level people you are concerned with are just 20 - 25 % of the total H-1B's, however.
Most H-1B's, 65%, are paid less than their American counterparts and are, therefore, being used to drive the cost of wages in the USA downward. 10% are paid roughly the same as the US workers. L-1 visas - to be continued
L-1 visas represent a limitless opportunity for multi-national corporations to replace American workers by hiring replacements overseas, and then transferring the LOW-LEVEL workers to the USA. These are not your fellow Physicists at SLAC. These are administrator, desktop support people, low-level developers... all for the sake of shaving a few pennies from the (extremely wealthy) corporation's overhead costs.
People have no clue on how much foreign capital is infused by "immigrants" whatever status they hold. For example in my home state of Michigan, we are bleeding money. However, Toyota is investing hundreds of millions. And because of that, YES, they can bring some of their key employees. They are not stealing American jobs for without them, these particular jobs would not exist.
I have no problem letting in highly skilled professionals, although this creates a brain drain in their home country. My problem is with the overwhelming number of visas going to Indians with an average skill set and the form of control the visa grants to the sponsor. If you are going to hand out visas to highly skilled workers, hand them out to individuals, require a masters in their chosen field, and allow them to automatically get residency after a fixed number of years.
These H1Bs are from sponsoring organizations not individuals. H1Bs going to colleges are exempt from the quota. You do not need an advanced degree, a bachelor's degree is the minimum. I would say most H1Bs are average, followed by crap, with few being good to great. Pretty much the same make up of U.S. residents. Very few visas go to the elite foreign workers. The H1B is for temporary help, yet workers use them to as a stepping stone to residency. It is a complex issue.
I think it is very short sited. Most Indian workers have little skills beyond resume writing. These "advanced degreed" professionals are little more than cheap labor.
What about the Irish and Germans in the 19th century? Perhaps the credit expansions of the Federal Reserve System (created in 1913) correlate better with 20th century recessions...
There is no European stock market. There's one in London, one in Paris, one in Berlin, and many more. If you add up the stock exchanges in the 500 million person EU then yes, it's of greater value than the capitalization on the stock exchanges of the 300 million of us in the US - but not by much!
When I put myself through college as a waitress it was common knowledge that Indians didn't tip. I suspect Indians share the company information with Jews. Knowing when to buy and dump stocks. Money buys support for Israel. It is all tied together. Two selfish groups who only think about their own interests at the expense of others.
Does legal mean it is right? Germany made killing Jews legal, was that right? They thought Jews were bad for the German enocomy, imagine that?
Dude - you failed to mention all of the flaws with the H-1b. There are many. Why don't you say who the TOP sponsors are. The top 11 of 20 are Indian offshore outsourcing firms in the IT industry.
The real immigration problem in this country is that people like you fail to spend any time analyzing the situation.
To go even further, three out of four of the H-1b applicants are paid on the LOWEST scale.
Stop the fraud in the H-1b program and you may have a point. But you ignored the ram
Lie 3: Mixing legal with illegal immigration issue - H1Bs are guest workers NOT immigrants of either catagory.
Lie 4: Companies want to hire "high end" people; again 85% H1B earn < 50K/year NOT 100K+ for rare workers. All most all get deported after visas expire.
Lie 5: Dude, what about the GUY in America that wants
Lie 1: 85% H1B Visa workers earn less than 50K/year. They are not rare technical workers - they are doing routine work that Americans could do but would cost companies more.
Lie 2: High volume of applications does not mean legitmate market demand.
I also want to respond to the idiot below me. First of all "English" is NOT the U.S. national lang it has never been voted on and I doubt it will ever pass of course I fly my MEXICAN flag ONLY on my home.I am proud of my heritage.
Actually, your ancestors where the first people to apply computing technology to astronomy and calendars. Unfortunately, the H1Bs from China and India are displacing native born Latinos and Natives from technical work.
Go back to Mexico. I'm sure your heart will swell at the sight of smog ,garbage, raw sewage, and the sight of corrupt federales as their extorting you out of anything of value you have.English only wetback!
This guy is a retard! He makes it seem like everyone that comes across the southern border is here to mow lawns or they have no degrees. That's plain stupid for him to assume this. In case people haven't heard or NAFTA. American companies are leaving the U.S. and you know why? Cheap labor! Companies do not want to PAY so called AMERICANS what the labor is worth. So they pack up and go to another country!!
We need to put up fences or just let mexico become another state. As it is I have to communicate in spanish . If they want to be a citizen they need to do it right. Learn our first language which is english. Our history needs to be learned. They hold up mexican flags in our country and expect to be accepted as an american. if I wanted to be a mexican citizen I would learn spanish and their culture. The whole thing pisses me off.
Wogsland, there is a larger issue here, which is that American businesses cannot find adequate domestic labor because they have participated in the dismantling of the American higher learning system. Business has for over 100 years been pushing Education to act as low level vocational training rather than general education. By refusing to invest in the American education system, they find a lack of skilled workers.
I appreciate your altruistic intent. Please YouTube search "Immigration Gumballs". It's just not sustainable at the present time. We have to help them where they're at, or too many of your brothers and sisters will get displaced. Sorry man. :-/
According to the U.S. Dept of Education, 300,000 Americans graduated in computer science in 2006 & according to the US DOL, only 150,000 new IT jobs were created, leaving 50k without employment. Now add in around 650,000 H-1b and L-1 visa workers taking EVERY new job and displacing hundreds of thousands more American workers and you say we need even more?
"Now add in around 650,000 H-1b and L-1 visa workers taking EVERY new job..."
EVERY new job? Let's not exaggerate here. I don't deny that the H-1B program is flawed and needs reform. It doesn't do any good to claim that H-1Bs are taking all the jobs though, as this makes us sound like raving, paranoid lunatics.
First you are just using these figures because they have floated in the press. Do you know what a L visa is? L visas are for intercompany transferees. Yes, that's right, a foreign company opens up here and brings their key employees over. Is that bad?
We got ourselves a winner! Someone who is illiterate, misinformed, unwilling to lookup facts and spreads the misinformation.
300k graduates and 150k jobs - that leaves 150k jobless, not 50k. Nice Math there Mary!
Lets examine the FACTS in this comment:
300K CompSci graduates? Only if you include Canada and Mexico. There were only 185K comp sci graduates in 2006. About 20-30K of these came from outside US. By April, 85% were employed.
65K H1b visas per yr only and not all are for IT jobs.
The American workers who were blackmailed and told to train their entry-level H-1b visa replacement worker or be cut off from a severance package. I don't hear you uttering one word about Kevin Flanagan, the young man who was used and abused by Bank of America for months, then replaced by an H-1b and blew his brains out in the parking lot. I don't hear you mentioning thousands of tech workers who have lost their homes to foreclosure, suffered family crisis, divorce and sadly, many suicides.
Here you are driveling about all these poor foreign workers, but I do not hear you uttering one word of concern or pity for the displaced American tech workers...you know...workers who had to take out years of student loan debt to attain their college degrees, unlike the majority of their H-1b visa competition who come from socialist and communist nations that pay 100% for their citizens educations.
Rather than boozing it up & posting uneducated opinions on youtube, take the time to EDUCATE yourself on the issue. The U.S. Dept of Justice found that 48% of H-1b visa workers have fraudulent credentials. 83% of H-1b Visa workers are paid substantially less than U.S. prevailing wage. 80% of H-1bs are being brought in to take entry-level jobs. Visa workers are chosen by a random drawing, not by their educational background or skillset.
big corporations dont want to take the time to train new graduates, so they want cheap labor from other countries . Come on US graduates are finding it hard to find a job. Limit the no of visas to Wipro, Infosys and all the indian consulting companies.
Illegal immigration was just a free ride for Americans to exploit cheap labor and enjoy the 1 dollar taco and 1 dollar tube socks. You wanna solve it? Go after the companies, see how people will travel to try to get a job illegaly without documentation, they'll head straight to Canada.
I disagree with your premise. The H1B visa program results in significantly lower wages for US citizens. No checks and balances, no oversight, no recourse for US citizens.
That`s meen that I have spend $5000 for Lawyer, $1275 for 2 Ads in the Newspaper, next Monday will apply my Lawyer the I-140 with $1000 premium processing + 195 filing fee, all this for nothing, because this 21 May 2007?????
The H-1B is a SALE ON LABOR. That is why the competition is great.
Research it - Over half the H-1B s are being used for low skilled jobs. (they are supposed to be the "best and brightest") Seventy percent are for Indian companies to streamline the outsourcing. process.
Immigration, H-1B, illegal immigration. All are creating a SURPLUS of labor and depressing wages. Haven't you heard about all the layoffs due to outsourcing, and wage drops?
Have you heard about business not able to find qualified people? Try to hire a qualified IT person and you would know how hard it is to find? Many of the positions that I know of are going unfilled due to this reason.
that's bs. i used to work at an immigration law firm. the paralegals would post these small ads in the LA times so they make it look like the company they're working for couldn;t find anybody from the US to work for them. Those companies barely try to find US workers.
Over half of the H-1B visa are going to low skilled workers. Around 70% are Indian companies looking to speed STREAMLINE OUTSOURCING. Its is all about Cheap Labor. The American worker loses out in the race for corporate globalism. Where did all the IT workers go? Computer Graphics next, then Journalism, Accounting jobs... then.... Think og H-1B as a SALE on labor, then you get it, the pressure, the competition.
As other nations grow, the global market grows with it. Im sure there is a large enough percentage of foreigners who send their money back to their native country, to impact our economy in a negative way. When we allow an individual to come to America, its a trade -off. They become a taxpayer and a consumer. But if they are exempt from taxes, business taxes, eligible for grants and loans that our own Americans are not eligible for, then send the money out of America---then we lose. Simple.
So I really dont think allowing someone into the country who IS qualified as opposed to someone who ISNT is going to have much of a change on the U.S. dollar value. different cause- same effect.
I dont think it matters much if immigrants come to America with a PHD or without one. In the end, there is one more person here to compete with an American for a job. Outsourcing has the same effects as mass immigration. The job is still taken from an American and given to a foreigner. That foreigner just doesnt have to travel to the US to get the job.
Where America once stoop as a "role model" to other growing governments, we now look like a bunch of hypocrites with loop holes in our branches of legislature and our laws, big enough to navigate a planet through. These loopholes allow for an unbalanced scale in the grand scheme of economical competition and stability.
I think the U.S. dollar slipping in its value has a lot to do with the foreign trade deficit. America is becoming "that guy with the bad credit". Why make it here, if you can make it elsewhere on the cheep?
I'm always pleasantly surprised when I find a well thought out response on the internet. As a college senior about to enter the work force, I would have to compete with many of these immigrants for jobs and yet I agree with your position. No society has ever benefited from turning away educated people.
America has gotten into this habit of "helping thy neighbor, before you you help yourself". This is a self destructive thought process. Yes, help your neighbor, but first make sure you are, and will be, ok yourself. Too many decisions for this country are being made by a handful of the corrupt few, causing this country to sink into catastrophe. Its time to get the rats out of office who continually do the opposite of what Americans really want their government to do!
America should have spent the money we are spending (and have spent) in Iraq, on making America self reliant (fuel alternatives). Then we wouldnt need to secure the oil fields from the terrorists. Then our soldiers could have been home. Then we could have been working on strengthening our military, infrastructure, and borders. Making us a bigger and better superpower who is better equipped to police the world (which is what we do). Starting with our close neighbor, Mexico.
It appears that everyone who is FOR illegal immigration, is thinking with their heart and not the head. This is a good quality to have but is not always the way to make decisions. No one who is for illegals can answer honestly, questions about securing the country from potential terrorists, stopping drug flow, driving job wages down. These are the problems.
I never support the inhumanity of letting a people to suffer dire circumstances. "BUT" economically, this method of allowing the population of an entire country to migrate into another country "IS NOT THE ANSWER". it doesnt matter how bad things are in Mexico, America can not sustain an influx of "an entire countrys population". The real answer is to help "straighten" out the crooked government in Mexico. Make it a better place in Mexico and the people will want to live there.
I debated saying anything because I don't seem to as well versed in world political affairs as some of your commentors but just let me say this.....I believe that all issues, problems, etc. are motivated by money and power and until something happens to change some peoples thinking on those two subjects it will be very hard and in some instances impossible to effectively have change.
Also, something was said about jobs, wages, etc. I know of companies that have a large percentage of immigrants working for them for the simple fact that a lot of younger Americans think it is beneath them (even though they pay, not tremendous, but decent wages) to do jobs that are more labor intensive than what is being pushed onto them by family, society, etc.
TAKE BACK AMERICA Date: Saturday June 16th, 2007 Place: Ford World Headquarters Dearborn, Michigan Bring Back Our Jobs Bring Back Our Factories Stop Promoting Illegal Immigration Stop Importing Foreign H1B Workers Stop Supporting the North American Union For more info: newagecitizen dot com
That's right, Ford can't compete in the world market and needs more taxpayer subsidies! Like Henry Ford said, it's probably the Jews keeping 'em down.
The RIGHT to have your family over here? Not unless that is AMERICAN LAW, you shouldn't! Do like every other ILLEGAL & get her preggo & fly her in a week before she is due. Then American taxpayers will foot the bill for your entire family as long as they live. What a deal! You get your $8000 back & plenty more & you can send all your wages back to Tijuana to sneak the aunts & uncles in too.
Not everyone is an illegal you backwoods sister fucker. Evey male in my family for the last 6 generations has been in the US Military. I own a restaurant that employees 19 people. I have money to do what I need to without getting welfare. I paid what immigration requested and they approved everything while I paid. After I was done paying it was denied imagine that. IMMIGRATION AND FUCK YOU!
Thank GOD for the Minutemen! Name ANY other country (including MEXICO) that allows illegal immigrants to protest in their streets! NOT ONE. Immigrants are WELCOME, ILLEGALS need to be deported to their own countries. Tell me this: Why don't these illegals have the COURAGE to protest their OWN govt's for a redress of grievances instead of BREAKING IN to ours? The poor people aren't to blame, it is our government failing to SECURE THE BORDER!!!
As an American who has lived and witnessed first hand the woes in Mexico , let me just state that we live in a country that is known for its freedom. This freedom entails alot. The freedom of speech, the freedom of press , the freedom to have controlled rallies and demonstrations, and hopefully you know all the other freedoms we have here that most assume are freedoms given around the world.
The point is that Mexico is a country that technically has no right to bear arms although granted there are some who do , the police ride around with automatic weapons and are more corrupt than most criminals because who can stop them. I personally witnessed police officers cut a woman in pieces , throw her in a bag and throw her onto the river bank on my wifes ranch. Who do you trust when the very ones who uphold the law abuse it toward their favor.
They aren't afraid to stand up but death comes quick to those who start to make the corrupt life of those in charge , look as though it might have a chance of ending. They aren't trying to break into our country , but they are trying to escape the horror of being trapped in their own country who exploits them as often as possible with no programs to strengthen their people and help them to get the most from life
Cabrone, LEGIT Americans know the risks of facing down an oppresive govt to make changes in our country. Heard of the REVOLUTIONARY WAR? Given your reasoning, this should have been impossible, but our REVOLUTIONARIES gave their lives standing up to corrupt England. It is the PRICE OF FREEDOM. Illegals just LEECH off the freedom THIS COUNTRY PAID FOR and skip out on their own revolution. Call it what you want, IT IS BREAKING IN when you are breaking the law to be here. CONTROL OUR BORDERS!
Pardon me but I do believe that during the revolutionary war we had American Indians,France , Spain, and the Netherlands' armies fighting along with us to gain our Independence. Dont act like a bunch of people sitting at their house just got tired and organized a rebellion and won on their own.
cabrone, you change your story: 1st it was too hard to revolt in your own country because there was too much RISK & now it's that you lack allies? Start with the millions in all the South American countries. Where is Che Guevara now? PS: Amer Revol was asstd by other countries for their hatred of England, but the MINUTEMEN MILITIAS were the bulk of the force. Americans won their OWN freedom. Study up.
well i guess the picture can never be painted obvious enough for you. On Nov28,1775 our great country established its Navy and on Nov.29 we constructed a secret committee to go seek help from every European nation willing to do so. We asked for their help and we also got it so dont say that we won our independence all by our lonesome.
I think there has been a significant amount of changes in the world since 1776. Do you honestly wanna tell me if we wanted too you think we could overthrow our government now? There are so many massive weapons of destruction now that civilians with 30/30's wouldn't stand a chance. There is no etiquette to war like before. The army has so much technological weapons you wouldn't stand a chance.
I didnt say it was too hard to revolt in my country, I am a white American not Mexican. And I just think if we want people to stay in there own country lets help them fix there country like all the other countries we help. Like IRAQ (LOL) Oh wait a minute Mexico really doesnt have anything we could rob them of should we go over there and help overthrow the government as opposed to Iraq.
So Mexico has WMD's and would use them during a revolt? Yeah. Mexico didn't ignore UN Resolutions for 13 years, I think is the problem with your Iraq analogy. If Saddam had complied, his ass wouldn't be strung up like a punk. Point is, don't sneak in the US & protest our govt for rights that AREN'T YOURS & that you wdidn't have the balls to protest for in your OWN country. Do it LEGALLY or send them all back where they came from. Close our borders to ILLEGALS!
1st of all i said massive weapons of destruction not wmd's. The regular police carry m16's and citizens have no right to bear arms, so what revolt woth rocks and no allies?I paid $8000 to the system for my wife who was approved until the money was paid then denied without even a history of a traffic violation. Fuck immigration. I should have the right to have my family over here, not me having to go to mexico
constitution we do have the right to bear arms stipulations if you have a criminal record or mental your not allowed there are also other stips too being an illegal immigrant no matter where you come from or who you are if you do have the right to bear arms legally you not to have them out in the public except out on hunting and you have to have a permit to even have a hand held stipulation also if the United States is bombardedly attacked we have the right to take arms to defend the US
You dont just marry a citizen and become legal. It took 5 years to get the final interview.I had to do immigration paperwork for my daughter who actually is a child of me(a citizen)The immigration official came smiling and gave my daughter papers and with same smile says to my wife she will not be getting any papers. $8000 and 16 approved apps later How in the fuck can they deny her papers though nothing has changed. Yeah let the father and daughter go back and leave the mom stranded alone.
Then make it breaking in for ALL people who do so. Dont give citizenship to those that make it here from a farther distance and just try to send Mexicans home. How come no one is going off on all the illegal.Czechoslavakians,Africans,Cubans,Cambodians, Dominicans, and Asians who are here.Everyone knew Mexicans were coming here,Like in 74 when we let millions come over to fill employers needs for employees but wait then comes a recession and work is slow. Hey Mexicans go home we dont need you
In 74 no one had foreseen that there was going to a mass immigration or illegal crossing. Every body was higher than a kite mmmmmmaaaaaaannnnnnnnn......
All my point is, is that everyone screams why dont they use the system and get legal. I met every stipulation, met evry money requirement. Everything was approved. We go to the last interview and they say no after I gave them $8000.00. They leave all responsibilitites to those doing the interviews. If you get someone in a bad mood your screwed. Theres no protocol except their good judgement or lack thereof.
funny to see that many people really didn't even got the message from this video, and started bringing out their personal issues with immigrants, I mean, bottom line, whoever is poor, its because it has chosen to, if a person from another country can make it in this land? how come I can't? the only difference is that he has a mind set and a goal, he went after it, and I was used to the system that had made me a lazy worthless human. Wealth is out there, willingness to go and get it is not.

College students was skyrocketing, so they went before congress and lied
deadpool03mm 2 years ago
under oath, alleging both declining interest in technical fields among U.S. Students, and the "high quality" of technical education in places like the Philippines. This is how H-1B came to pass. They discovered it was cheaper to take people with substandard or possibly fraudulent education from Cavite and bring them over for 20 K a year than to pay an American 100 K a year and up
deadpool03mm 2 years ago
we did quite well for ourselves for years without foreign doctors, software programmers, teachers, and outsourcing. Somewhere along the line, foreigners, corrupt politicians, and greedy industry leaders induced a true self-hatred complex in the American people which advanced the nation-wrecking neo-liberal agenda. They convinced the hardest working, most productive and high skilled labor force on the planet that they were "weak and lazy, and earned too much money."
deadpool03mm 2 years ago
they got us to give up our Union shops, our middle class incomes, our health insurance, our pensions, all in the name of competing with an imagined super human workforce from abroad who were Gods at all things math and science. It's a myth. I've been to Asia several times, It's a shit hole and always will be, we should strongarm every U.S. based corporation into totally divesting themselves of their foreign holdings, back out of all trade agreements, end visa labor completely
deadpool03mm 2 years ago
and impose record setting taxes upon any and all foreign goods or raw materials which can be produced domestically within the United States. If I sound like a radical nationalist of some type, keep in mind that the "Asian Tigers" perpetually hold us to a double standard. The Japanese would never tolerate being fleeced by mercantilism but we're expected to put up with it in the name of the "free market" cult. No thanks.
deadpool03mm 2 years ago
You have a really good point there about the upper-echelon people. They have less incentive to come here because they have to be legal to do their thing, which essentially means needing government permission. Yet, why? So some competing American can't lose his job? Well, it slows down those American companies from suffering from not have the best they can hire. That hurts everyone. Yet the poor have to compete with the illegals unlike the rich. It's essentially protectionism...

Competition = good.
cockTHEgun 3 years ago
Mortison: My nation's forefathers abandoned "their own countries". They did it for freedom and, yes, "monetary gain". And it sounds like you were educated in a socialistic government school system. Nobody can "steal" a job. One's job does not belong to one. The job belongs to the employer and he can give it to anyone he so chooses. Or do you think employers should be the slaves of the precious mommy gov't?

This year I won H1B visa lottery thanks to my CV and past merits, and hope to be ultimately a USA citizen one day. As a gifted young Moroccan student I got a scholarship in Paris France where I had my master engineering degree from Ecole Central. adamabh 4 years ago
adamabh, when you say that you won a lottery "due to merits," your phraseology includes a reference to "immigrate" from France to the USA, and you apparently are unable to spell the word "loser" correctly, I think that the winners are Morocco and France. Why don't you learn the language you are using to some extent prior to divulging your extremely high level of achievement to the world in your flawed English?

You need more information prior to coming out with these generalized statements. I can understand that, since you work at SLAC, you are probably seeing some of the benefitsof the H-1B program. The high-level people you are concerned with are just 20 - 25 % of the total H-1B's, however.
tcronkel 4 years ago
Most H-1B's, 65%, are paid less than their American counterparts and are, therefore, being used to drive the cost of wages in the USA downward. 10% are paid roughly the same as the US workers. L-1 visas - to be continued
tcronkel 4 years ago
L-1 visas represent a limitless opportunity for multi-national corporations to replace American workers by hiring replacements overseas, and then transferring the LOW-LEVEL workers to the USA. These are not your fellow Physicists at SLAC. These are administrator, desktop support people, low-level developers... all for the sake of shaving a few pennies from the (extremely wealthy) corporation's overhead costs.
tcronkel 4 years ago
People have no clue on how much foreign capital is infused by "immigrants" whatever status they hold. For example in my home state of Michigan, we are bleeding money. However, Toyota is investing hundreds of millions. And because of that, YES, they can bring some of their key employees. They are not stealing American jobs for without them, these particular jobs would not exist.
aicvisa 4 years ago
Also, set up quotas for countries to encourage more immigrants from under represented areas such as Africa and South America.

What you are talking about is legal immigration. It already exists.

I have no problem letting in highly skilled professionals, although this creates a brain drain in their home country. My problem is with the overwhelming number of visas going to Indians with an average skill set and the form of control the visa grants to the sponsor. If you are going to hand out visas to highly skilled workers, hand them out to individuals, require a masters in their chosen field, and allow them to automatically get residency after a fixed number of years.
ishobo 4 years ago
These H1Bs are from sponsoring organizations not individuals. H1Bs going to colleges are exempt from the quota. You do not need an advanced degree, a bachelor's degree is the minimum. I would say most H1Bs are average, followed by crap, with few being good to great. Pretty much the same make up of U.S. residents. Very few visas go to the elite foreign workers. The H1B is for temporary help, yet workers use them to as a stepping stone to residency. It is a complex issue.
ishobo 4 years ago
I think it is very short sited. Most Indian workers have little skills beyond resume writing. These "advanced degreed" professionals are little more than cheap labor.

Money buys support for Israel. It is all tied together. Two selfish groups who only think about their own interests at the expense of others.
Does legal mean it is right? Germany made killing Jews legal, was that right? They thought Jews were bad for the German enocomy, imagine that?

To go even further, three out of four of the H-1b applicants are paid on the LOWEST scale.

Lie 6: Companies will relocate; they already have.
Lie 7: "Monumental Shift Away from America"-if that were true then why are all these guys trying to get over here?
I'd like to ask this guy, if the demand is real for H1B then why has it been voted down three times?
iconoclast616 4 years ago
Lie 3: Mixing legal with illegal immigration issue - H1Bs are guest workers NOT immigrants of either catagory.
Lie 4: Companies want to hire "high end" people; again 85% H1B earn < 50K/year NOT 100K+ for rare workers. All most all get deported after visas expire.
Lie 5: Dude, what about the GUY in America that wants
iconoclast616 4 years ago
Lie 1: 85% H1B Visa workers earn less than 50K/year. They are not rare technical workers - they are doing routine work that Americans could do but would cost companies more.
Lie 2: High volume of applications does not mean legitmate market demand.

Mary101961 4 years ago
"Now add in around 650,000 H-1b and L-1 visa workers taking EVERY new job..."
EVERY new job? Let's not exaggerate here. I don't deny that the H-1B program is flawed and needs reform. It doesn't do any good to claim that H-1Bs are taking all the jobs though, as this makes us sound like raving, paranoid lunatics.

Mary101961 4 years ago
Here you are driveling about all these poor foreign workers, but I do not hear you uttering one word of concern or pity for the displaced American tech workers...you know...workers who had to take out years of student loan debt to attain their college degrees, unlike the majority of their H-1b visa competition who come from socialist and communist nations that pay 100% for their citizens educations.
Mary101961 4 years ago
Rather than boozing it up & posting uneducated opinions on youtube, take the time to EDUCATE yourself on the issue. The U.S. Dept of Justice found that 48% of H-1b visa workers have fraudulent credentials. 83% of H-1b Visa workers are paid substantially less than U.S. prevailing wage. 80% of H-1bs are being brought in to take entry-level jobs. Visa workers are chosen by a random drawing, not by their educational background or skillset.
Mary101961 4 years ago

It is time we start saving money, investing in gold and stop the spending.

Over half of the H-1B visa are going to low skilled workers. Around 70% are Indian companies looking to speed STREAMLINE OUTSOURCING. Its is all about Cheap Labor. The American worker loses out in the race for corporate globalism. Where did all the IT workers go? Computer Graphics next, then Journalism, Accounting jobs... then.... Think og H-1B as a SALE on labor, then you get it, the pressure, the competition.
DornBear 4 years ago
As other nations grow, the global market grows with it. Im sure there is a large enough percentage of foreigners who send their money back to their native country, to impact our economy in a negative way. When we allow an individual to come to America, its a trade -off. They become a taxpayer and a consumer. But if they are exempt from taxes, business taxes, eligible for grants and loans that our own Americans are not eligible for, then send the money out of America---then we lose. Simple.

realcyrus26 4 years ago
I dont think it matters much if immigrants come to America with a PHD or without one. In the end, there is one more person here to compete with an American for a job. Outsourcing has the same effects as mass immigration. The job is still taken from an American and given to a foreigner. That foreigner just doesnt have to travel to the US to get the job.

Where America once stoop as a "role model" to other growing governments, we now look like a bunch of hypocrites with loop holes in our branches of legislature and our laws, big enough to navigate a planet through. These loopholes allow for an unbalanced scale in the grand scheme of economical competition and stability.

realcyrus26 4 years ago
I'm always pleasantly surprised when I find a well thought out response on the internet.

Starting with our close neighbor, Mexico.
realcyrus26 4 years ago
It appears that everyone who is FOR illegal immigration, is thinking with their heart and not the head. This is a good quality to have but is not always the way to make decisions. No one who is for illegals can answer honestly, questions about securing the country from potential terrorists, stopping drug flow, driving job wages down. These are the problems.
realcyrus26 4 years ago
I never support the inhumanity of letting a people to suffer dire circumstances. "BUT" economically, this method of allowing the population of an entire country to migrate into another country "IS NOT THE ANSWER". it doesnt matter how bad things are in Mexico, America can not sustain an influx of "an entire countrys population". The real answer is to help "straighten" out the crooked government in Mexico. Make it a better place in Mexico and the people will want to live there.

The point is that Mexico is a country that technically has no right to bear arms although granted there are some who do , the police ride around with automatic weapons and are more corrupt than most criminals because who can stop them. Point is, don't sneak in the US & protest our govt for rights that AREN'T YOURS & that you wdidn't have the balls to protest for in your OWN country. Yeah let the father and daughter go back and leave the mom stranded alone.
