@polka23dot 1. That is outdated, in 1977 common article III (Protocol II) was ammended especially for internal conflicts.
2. Note it says that they must wear sign IF they want protection from Geneva convention. I dont think they give a damn. Geneva convention is meant for protection of the victims during time of war, ie non-combatants. It is not meant like you are trying to use it, to justify on the spot executions without trial. That is something only done by totalitarian regimes.

2. Note it says that they must wear sign IF they want protection from Geneva convention. I dont think they give a damn. Geneva convention is meant for protection of the victims during time of war, ie non-combatants. It is not meant like you are trying to use it, to justify on the spot executions without trial. That is something only done by totalitarian regimes.

The Afghan-Soviet war was a proxy war between the Soviet Union and USA. The mujahedins were hired by Pakistan, armed by the USA, and fought for the USA.
The best examples of Muslim incompetence are Arabic jihads against Israel. Tiny Israel defeated combined military forces of several Arabic countries.

They are not Legal Combatants in an International war, therefore they are simply criminals. If you were a bit smarter, and if or when you were in Afghanistan you payed attention to the Powerpoints on the war predeploy you would know that. Btw, the only thing that counts is the common article 3, which counts for the ISAF forces.

As for WW2 the Americans and British also sent men behind German lines out of uniform and in some cases in German uniform. Those Germans who executed such allies as spies were shot after the war for warcrimes despite the fact that the allies did the same. The victor always writes history and the US is no clean spring lamb.

@induna7 Agreed. However, this man's life was clearly in danger, as shown by the way these fighters forced him to leave and suggested he never return. What was he supposed to do? They would have killed him if he had opposed them at all. At least this way he was able to report a story that most people wouldn't even think about trying. His other options are that he loses his life or we just never learn the things he exposed in his investigation. I think he did a great job.
