This is my favorite one out of the entire franchise. I don't care what anyone else says, I think it just closes the franchise perfectly the way everything ends (despite the flaws and plot holes). It's a shame they made Alien Resurrection, but that one stands on its own (props to that someone who found a way to continue the saga).
Actually the queen laid an egg near the cryotubes, the result was a Queen Fachugger. First it impregnated Ripley with a queen embryo and than after the EEV crashed and the dog came by it latched itself onto the dog and thus giving us the dog Alien. The Queen facehugger needs a warrior to help start her hive and thats why the Facehugger that was within the EEV could impregnant TWO different hosts with chestbursters.
If you watch the assembly cut, you will find that the alien comes out of an Ox but later one of the prisoners discovers the facehugger and its TWICE as big as a regular one. Indicating that the facehugger was a "queen "facehugger".
@SteddieMurphy We're probably meant to believe that, but there was only one egg on the ship. The face hugger we see got injured in the ship and was most likely the one that got the dog. Pitty they didn't show 2 eggs on the ship.
people cried and whined about newt and hicks not in the movie but seriously the girl who played newt would have been like 17 years old since this movie came out 5 years after aliens. they would have had to get a different actor to play her. and putting hicks in it it's unlikely they would have pulled off the same on-screen chemistry as in aliens. it's easy to see why they took him out. at least bishop was in it lol.

... However, I always thought the Directors Cut was done excellently and almost is like a new film to me, as it explains the fate if the prisoners a lot more and feels more complete. If more people saw the DC of it, I reckon it wouldn't get so much bad press.
everyone hates this 3 installment, i agree about the 4th Alien, that was a terrible movie, i hated the way the Aliens looked in the 4th film, they didnt put anytime into making the 4th movie, but Alien 3 was done really well and no one gives David Fincher credit, because Ridley & Cameron came before, but H.R. Giger did a really good job designing an Alien that came from a dog, the Alien was smart, quick and ruthless. actually its my favorite Alien design out of all the movies, good job Fincher.
i definitely agree. the film style and atmosphere were perfect, and this was the first movie to show the alien perspective with the camera. the acting and dialogue are really outstanding, especially charles dutton's awesome badass performance. this movie was too brilliant for the time and no one liked it because it came after cameron's over the top blockbuster. this movie was much more about acting and story driven than special effects and action.

She was "USED". Ripley was used by WEYLAND. Bishop explains this. Ripley was asleep another 40 years or something in space. She survived onto this planet which I forgot how. The Aliens wouldnt kill her, because she was NOW one of them. Her sleep tube had something in it that WEYLAND planted inside it. It was already there before she went on mission to investiage this in Aliens 2 from home base?
When she sees BISHOPS creater, it was the same guy off of AVP and looked like Bishop. CLONE?

Awesome movie with a superb atmosphere and beautiful settings. The death of Hicks and Newt is so against the mainstream and it fits perfectly into the hopeless mood where even the heroes can die. That makes this movie so outstanding. Fincher had balls and I think this movie is his best. Also great work by cameraman Alex Thomson RIP! I highly recommend the alternative cut which has several key plot elements that differ from the theatrical release and make this movie more conclusive.
Rewatched all Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 & Alien Ressurection after seeing the Prometheus trailer and i recommend everybody else to do the same. Those movies still look decent even tho' they are old and damn they're good. Definitly a must watch before Prometheus comes out.

This trailer is inaccurate. The bitch is clearly an Alien queen whereas in the movie,Ripley is only fighting a drone. The script also made me pissed off when they cut Micheal Biehn(CPL.Hicks) from it as well. It's a good horror movie,but it still makes me angry.
A good movie on its own, but a terrible sequel. Because the first part of the movie makes no sense. Alien 3 was not consistent with the first two movies. In Alien, the egg chamber only opens when a living thing moves towards it, the same with Aliens. In Alien 3, the egg chamber opened automatically, releasing the face hugger, while the humans (including Ripley) were inside the hibernation chambers.
People say this is a rubbish sequel but a great movie... I think it's a great sequel! sure killing of some characters was sad, but it really set the mood for this dark and disturbing movie, sure some of the special effects are dated, but this movie is 20 years old! I don't think any other movie made around that time had such a dark feelling (If there are more like it please let me know).
I think all the alien films rock, 2 is my fave, then 3, then 1 and then 4... which I actually kinda liked.

The cast of Alien 3 are just a bunch of red shirts. Some of the dialogue is laughable. Charles Dance's big reveal of his terrible past is dreadful. He was tired & accidently killed a patient, shock horror! I
I loathe Alien 3. It's not the performances, or effects or even the action set pieces, it's the woeful script. The film had a well documented difficult production & it shows. All the characters apart from Ripley are under developed to the point that you don't give a monkeys when they are bumped off, Alien & Aliens quickly established characters that you cared about.
I really love Alien 3. Such intense atmosphere and a constant feeling of dread. very underrated. Don't get me wrong, it has its flaws (bad CGI in parts) but it is definitely better than most people say.
i want them to make an alien 5, but weaver isnt like she used to be and the effects would b so good it would suck - it be like terminator salvation cause the new screen shots and the stupid 'adult' look-a-likes with all the different histroy and the most annoying thing everyone hates - whispering
But i diffently think that Fincher had something to bring to the saga..
But then fox interferred and Fincher didn't have the time and effort to complete HIS hole idea... But the scene with the alien right right up in Ripley face, absolute epic and the ending somehow satisfied me:)

I may be mad, but I think Alien 3 is Fincher's best film up to date. I just have such a huge fondness of it it's sort of my cult film. The atmosphere and the setting are great, and the ending is so strangely religious and depressing it aches whenever I watch it. I see why people hate it, but I think it's one of the finest films of the '90s.

Carrie Henn, who played the 11 year old Newt was to old in 1991 to play her character again. So she had to die. It would be ridiculous if another girl played Newt.

Alien3 on its own as a film is great. Some really great performances from British actors. I have to admit when i first saw it when it was released originally i hated it....but over time this one has matured into a great film imo. Any director was going to face the wrath of the critics after James Cameron nailed the sequel and how much it made at the box office. If you take the dark sort of "gothic" thriller aspect of this film then your in for a hidden gem
Real shame what the studio did to this movie, the job Fincher did retrieving what he did shows not only the potential of the movie but the sheer talent of Fincher, the directors cut of this film is epic too. Way too underrated this movie.

@gorilla12d3 Sorry, its been a very long while since I have seen the movie. I just remember being pissed of when they killed of Newt right at the beginning. She was a helpless little girl in Aliens and I couldn't wait to see her character grow stronger in the sequal (Kinda like Hit Girl in Kick-Ass). Instead the idiots just did away with her. Yes, I also liked Hicks as well.

I think that Hicks and Ripley were going to hit it off at some point. To kill that off in Alien3 was a huge flaw, but i don't think that was down to David Fincher.
I'm yet to see Kick-Ass but i hear that it's a cool movie and i'd like to see it too.

@QAndJMovies2 Not the best, you say? That depends on what you're after; scares - watch Alien, action - watch Aliens, drama - watch Alien 3. So, the best, certainly for drama.
Fincher's take on the franchise could of been pretty sweet, but Hollywood gets nervous when the audience begins to think. What's so cool about Alien and it's sequels is how they mimic the fight between the director and the cigar shitheels who can only see profit and wouldn't know a good film if it raped them in the face.
They really are "The Company" while the director's vision is expendable.
Shame that Fox and the suits decided to take over the film and ruin what David Fincher wanted to do.
Anybody who has seen the documentary on Alien 3 on the boxset can see exactly why it ended up as it did, the studio and bigwigs got involved in it and stopped Fincher doing what he wanted, and instead do what they wanted.

@aliensharkboy I hated this movie as a child, because i found it really boring, but at later age i found this one reaaaaaally good. I mean the only bummer is the bad alien cgi but still, awesome movie.

The cast of Alien 3 are just a bunch of red shirts. Some of the dialogue is laughable. Charles Dance's big reveal of his terrible past is dreadful. He was tired & accidently killed a patient, shock horror! I

I loathe Alien 3. It's not the performances, or effects or even the action set pieces, it's the woeful script. The film had a well documented difficult production & it shows. All the characters apart from Ripley are under developed to the point that you don't give a monkeys when they are bumped off, Alien & Aliens quickly established characters that you cared about.

I really love Alien 3. Such intense atmosphere and a constant feeling of dread. very underrated. Don't get me wrong, it has its flaws (bad CGI in parts) but it is definitely better than most people say.

I can see why people think this one its bad!
But i diffently think that Fincher had something to bring to the saga..
But then fox interferred and Fincher didn't have the time and effort to complete HIS hole idea... But the scene with the alien right right up in Ripley face, absolute epic and the ending somehow satisfied me:)
And all the drama about killing hicks and newt!? oh, come on, get over it! the actor of newt were properly to old anyway and Michael biehn wasn't that of a great actor!

I may be mad, but I think Alien 3 is Fincher's best film up to date. I just have such a huge fondness of it it's sort of my cult film. The atmosphere and the setting are great, and the ending is so strangely religious and depressing it aches whenever I watch it. I see why people hate it, but I think it's one of the finest films of the '90s.

Alien3 on its own as a film is great. Some really great performances from British actors. I have to admit when i first saw it when it was released originally i hated it....but over time this one has matured into a great film imo. Any director was going to face the wrath of the critics after James Cameron nailed the sequel and how much it made at the box office. If you take the dark sort of "gothic" thriller aspect of this film then your in for a hidden gem

Real shame what the studio did to this movie, the job Fincher did retrieving what he did shows not only the potential of the movie but the sheer talent of Fincher, the directors cut of this film is epic too. Way too underrated this movie.

In fact i think MB was pissed off about being killed off by the screen writers! they fucked with a potentially great movie, but i believe David Fincher did a good job with what he had to put up with. what do you think if you don't mind me asking?

@gorilla12d3 Sorry, its been a very long while since I have seen the movie. I just remember being pissed of when they killed of Newt right at the beginning. She was a helpless little girl in Aliens and I couldn't wait to see her character grow stronger in the sequal (Kinda like Hit Girl in Kick-Ass). Instead the idiots just did away with her. Yes, I also liked Hicks as well.

@Tebok73509 no problem, i agree with that. To me in Aliens, Ripley and Newt were like mother and daughter and Hicks was like a father figure and i'd have liked to see that continued. I think that Hicks and Ripley were going to hit it off at some point. To kill that off in Alien3 was a huge flaw, but i don't think that was down to David Fincher.
I'm yet to see Kick-Ass but i hear that it's a cool movie and i'd like to see it too.

Fincher's take on the franchise could of been pretty sweet, but Hollywood gets nervous when the audience begins to think. What's so cool about Alien and it's sequels is how they mimic the fight between the director and the cigar shitheels who can only see profit and wouldn't know a good film if it raped them in the face.
They really are "The Company" while the director's vision is expendable.

Shame that Fox and the suits decided to take over the film and ruin what David Fincher wanted to do.
Anybody who has seen the documentary on Alien 3 on the boxset can see exactly why it ended up as it did, the studio and bigwigs got involved in it and stopped Fincher doing what he wanted, and instead do what they wanted.
