  • I genuinely did not know that BB could play like that! Pity me I guess. I thought his playing was a lot more minimal for want of a better word. There are some speedy twiddly little flurries in there. Beautiful playing and tone, I never used to really get the adulation but I think I should revise that!

  • @sonicalsonics I am not saying I don't like minimal by the way, its just that some of the stuff I have heard has felt a little anemic to me.

  • Absolutely fantastic! Thank you for posting it

  • I wish B.B. King was my granddad.

  • What a gentleman. BB king is Classy.

  • @wood3086: He may have given the game away earlier at 1:56 (where he snuck in a little jazz riff).

  • Amen

  • King of vibrato

  • B.B. fooled the heck out of me up until i seen this video from 2:14-2:28,. wow! those were some nice chops comin from him that ive never seen or thought he would attemp. go head B.B.!

  • This great and I thank BB for being my first guitar influence through my dad listening to him all the time!

  • I like how Arne Waise keeps his microphone so he can breath in it while BB is speaking ^^ Im sedish btw

  • @zolka90 haha Sedish! bra sagt, jag med! :D

  • This is music

  • 5:17 -5:21=#5WAG

  • BB King plays the guitar like Björn Borg plays tennis - one with their instrument of choice.

  • 2 guys don't have ear!

  • even the bass is semi hollow ES like :) this is pure class :)

  • I wonder what He could do with a pedal <3 <3 !!!!

  • he nt only inspired blues guitarists, but also rock and blues guitarist, which transformed into hard rock and heavy metal

  • He is the lord and master of that instrument. The beauty, the authority, the inevitability, the nuance, the feeling, the depth. There has never been anyone who comes near him and I would be very surprised if there ever is. He is one of a kind. Louis Armstrong has no competitors on pre-bop cornet and trumpet. B. B. king has no competitors on modern blues guitar.

  • bb king is the king damn

  • the only thing that changed is the fucking chair under his ass at concerts : D

  • Comment removed

  • is it just me or has bb king's playing slowed down since he's gotten older?

  • @billyjt4

I think he was at his very best at these older performances. But he hasn't lost it.

  • @billyjt4 he didn't have to play anymore... he was bb king.. you know what i mean? XD

  • 1:00 afro american lolwut

  • @Glassandcandy its a common term, short for African american

  • soul coming out of his ears! :D no one comes close to that..

  • Blues Boy Tune = BB King

  • what dvd is this?

  • It must feel great to perform in front of such a large crowd by just jamming.

  • so clean and full of soul man ..

  • Он просто Бог!!!

    I mean, he's God!!!

  • ASK YOURSELF: "DO I DESERVE THE GREEN JACKET"? PROLLY NOT! BAHH!

  • just plugged in and play..I learned that from BB

  • the king is just that but the guy on trumpet steals this for me. toot toot tat ta ta toot! haha

  • @smccoy101 nope ,,,,disagree The Tenor Sax........Bobby Forte

  • @13dedi lol fair enough they both hit the mark like! just great music all round

  • come to greece

  • Gudomligt! Tack

  • B.B. please come to Croatia!!

  • When B.B. hits a note and starts playing I can always see myself as a youngster back in Memphis as my parents are entertaining family/friends while playing B.B. Those notes carry powerful memories, histories, and ideas young people. That's what the blues can do.

  • That's really what putting your heart into your music is all about.

  • flawless!

  • All hail the king of Blues! Yes sa' Mr. King!

  • maybe not the fastest but god damn just the sweetest tone ive ever heard in my life .so much feeling

  • @imkg09

Why would being faster make it any better?

  • A beautiful film. Thank you for this one.

BB's tone is his signature, especially back in the 1970s.

He puts every ounce of feeling into every vibrato note...like his life depends on it. Many shredders find his technique boring, but they'll never get the point i.e it's FEELING and NOT speed. This man,as well as all the original Bluesmen like T Bone Walker, has influenced more people than any shredder ever will.

  • @taildragger53 I wonder when music fell off a cliff. Guitar players have always wanted to have chops, but when did speed and the ability to sound like a robot become the end all be all of guitar technique? It's like spacing, timing, and phrasing don't mean anything. Rhythmic variation, melody creation and exploration are becoming a lost art in modern guitar playing and I still don't really know why? BB King's playing is a thing of real beauty, a true art.

  • @Odin029 You are right.

We are a long way from the one string diddly bow, which is the device most Blues legends like BB King learnt on. The innovators had patience and discretion.

But speed is used now to impress. The neo-classical technique is ,IMHO, boring.

Any teen student noodling in a music shop can play fast.

One around my area plays with oven gloves on!

Will they be still known in 50 yrs time? BB & Albert King,JL Hooker, Lightnin Hopkins will.

  • @taildragger53 BB King was always a big fan of jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell..and Kenny is the epitome of grace, elegance and discretion. Burrell can play at lightning speed but chooses his notes carefully instead. In this ' commodity disposable' era we have most shredders would've have the patience to understand the phrasing. But the idea should be to play ideas from the heart rather than show off how many modes one knows.

    Best wishes to you!

  • all you fags who subscribe to internet lessons like "expert village" and so on, stop watching that crap and do what you can to learn from this guys playing, just look and listen at what he does.

  • right on! I dig it

  • All one can say is: WOW....!

  • B.B. King at the height of his power...the mid-1970's!!!

For any guitar player who wonders, THAT'S how to make love to a guitar !

B.B. makes Lucille (in this case a Gibson ES-355 stereo) sing so sweetly that you just want to fly away into the clouds of joy !

Props to the trumpet and sax players, also...

    Dan.

  • If BB King ran me over with his car and then chopped me to pieces with an axe I would still love him.

  • To the 1 dislike.....Life hates YOU.

  • @SuddenPizza quite the "rebel" that 1 little disliker is huh? attention whore a best i'd say :D

  • BB is indeed the master, but credit needs to be paid where its due, man. Listen to the sax in the background, shit!

6:33 to 6:40 blew my mind.

That sax player is a genius...so much soul in that phrase its unbelievable.

  • Now THIS is what I call Music

  • BB is such a class act i love him!!!!

  • Seepin...

  • What's so remarkable about B.B. King is his ability to voice his guitar exactly like a singer. I think he cared more about that than the scales, the technicals or any "shredding" ... he wanted to give his instrument a voice. Some of the best blues players of today go back to B.B. for that very reason. He brought to blues guitar what ever real blues guitarist wants to bring in their own way. Some do it better than others.

  • @airforcejim Very well put!

  • Who's the dumbass that dislike this ?

  • happ birthday bb!

  • B is such a gentleman. His sound will always be in my heart.

  • beautiful and what a picture quality

  • i love that BB king

that's why everybody call him the king

  • B.B. and "Lucille" doing what they do best...I think robbolandsvids said it best: if this doesn't move you, you're already dead !!!

  • For Ever BB King. I cried the two times I saw him live. Peace.

  • several of my bodily fluids just left the building....if this music doesn't make your spine shiver and your heart pound, then I'm afraid you're already dead.. sorry. ..

  • priceless Gibson sound,,,

  • Man. . .great playing, but those grass-green suits are just fugly!!!

  • @ironbuttermilk Without those magnificient green suits, the sound wouldn't be the same

  • WOW!!! got anymore of this??

  • all i can say is mm , mm,mm...

  • Really good footage Quite inspired

  • I saw him in Toronto at the Hook and Ladder in 78 and he was so good..He even played a little jazz.He had bass,B3 ,drums a and sax ..

  • Haha! If they like music a whole lot there then they have the same dispositions as folks in Belgium... One of the only redeeming qualities of this place! lol Wondrous post; love the interview too! Baddog's right: he's a King. Rou're right by my book: this IS feeling!

  • BB King is a King.

  • Thanks for sending my way, JC; beautiful!

  • Love that fast lick that starts at 1:52

  • Pretty cool how the light reflecting off of his guitar leads into the song at 2:31.

  • This is actually BB's best band - Bobby Forts, Sonny Freeman, and Ron levy. This is just one of his many instrumentals that he used to throw in - same changes as the great "My Mood" except in a lower key. In the early younger days BB always changed his set.. The Band just followed.

  • Like the informative comment. Thx

    Instrumental is great!

  • Typical BB King playing here !!!

Just like only him can do !!!

    5*

  • Hey, is there a DVD edition of this anywhere? I WANT IT!!
