It looks good. you've done well. dont worry about the light getting to hot, they usually get warm but not excessive. my standard t5 gets warm but not Hot (reflector) not bulb, you shouldnt have a prob with it.
@cichlid62 Hey Dickhead :) There is little humidity to ruin it as there is an acrylic drip plate below it...check the facts before you leave retarded comments
ross, if you can get hold of some, mylar is what u want inside the canopy, if not and i know it sounds ridiculous but matt white paint(bathroom or kitchen as they have fungicidal built into them which will help in the wet enviro it will be used) is better at reflecting light, it diffuses the light it reflects rather than specular reflection gloss gives - i kno it sounds counter intuative but thats the way science works sometimes
@mbezik I'm not too bothered about reflecting all of the light back into the tank...I might use that stuff sometime in the future but for the minute I'm gonna stick with the white paint. The hood wont come into contact with any water because there will be an acrilic sheet below it :) thanks for the suggestions though mate!
@9BigGeorge thanks man :) I'm happy just painting it because I'm not too bothered about reflecting all the light just enough to make the tank look good
@martyb0y1981 I hope it will...The plastic sheet sits on 2 glass ledges below the rim of the tank and I've made this to sit on the actual rim of the tank so that means I can leave the acrylic sheet on the tank to act as a condensation tray but also at the same time have the lights on top...the acrylic will also protect the wood from water damage so it's all good :)

Ross man, this is awesome! Aluminum soda cans also reflect a lot more light, and its safe. Try it out!

hey good idea but white reflects more light than a mirror but mirrors reflect more visible light

How will it remain suspended inside your canopy?
Tuscuttar 8 months ago
@Tuscuttar It came with different hooks and clips and things that I can mount inside the canopy and then clip the light on

could you not just use a mirror as a reflector
JUNAID187 8 months ago
@JUNAID187 I could but I haven't got a very skinny mirror
TheRossiboy 8 months ago
that white paint will do a great job reflecting the light
are you puting it on top of the tank or you putting the plastic sheet back on first ?

@TheRossiboy yeah I know what you mean
hopefully there should be enough space between the plastic sheet and the light to let any heat out
