I like your hinge idea. I have the same cabinet. Maybe you already have a dust collector, but I used a 1 1/2" hole saw and drilled a hole on the the left side of the cabinet toward the top and installed a 1 1/4" bulkhead adapter. I put a 1 1/4" male threaded / hose barb elbow on the outside and hooked it to my wet dry vac. Works well with a fine filter. Will suck the gloves out if you forget to remove the rear vent plug. Also used quick disconnect for air supply.
