Hey everybody, I am a polyglot like Steve is and I am fluent in 37 languages and am almost fluent in French. Please check my profile to see what languages I speak first, then if you want any lessons of any of my languages, please reply to this comment mentioning the language you want to learn and me to teach and help you. Thanks.
I can see your point by my own experiente. I have been studyng English since 3 years ago, so,so and I am able to understand English very well, but I don't feel confortable when a need speak. It seems like my tongue had freezen (it is a little funy) or if my facial muscle had dead..:) :) :) I really love your videos and by this one I realized that what happens with me when I tryng speaking is absolutely normal. Thank you for your wonderful work and I am a LingQ's f
I agree with everything Steve say! As in most situations it's much more important to understand the language pretty well than actually be able to speak it. You can get far answering to a native speaker by his "Yes/No" questions than with asking somebody in perfect language but without understanding the answer. I mean at least this was my experience so far. Make people see that you understand them and they will tell you their story, this might be mor valuable than you trying to speak to them.
" In 1847 Baudelaire had discovered the work of Edgar Allan Poe. Overwhelmed by what he saw as the almost preternatural similarities between the American writer's thought and temperament and his own, he embarked upon the task of translation that was to provide him with his most regular occupation and income for the rest of his life."
Baudelaire never speaks English with anyone. It's possible to love languages without speak them. Sometimes, the aim is different.
So now you have to wait. When I uploaded my last movie I couldn't see captions immediately. I took 2 hours and then I could see them. The size of a file is also crucial because longer files must wait longer for their captions. And sometimes captions are available but button CC doesn't appear.
There is more iformation about closed-captions and requesting them: * You must be the video owner * Sign into your account * On the Captions and Subtitles pane, click the Request Processing button (you will only see this button if the video hasn't been processed yet). * You'll see Machine Transcription (processing) in the list of available caption tracks. That means it's working!
It can take a few days for the speech recognition track to become available for viewing and download.
good clip.. ive been learning chinese for a year almost and still not wanting to speak as when i hang out with groups of native speakers i can usually only pick up around 20-30% only, so phrases within a conversation.. so i feel there isnt any point. Perhaps when im understanding all BUT a few things and its more natural for me to try and chime in i will start.
Less stress= More learning. Great point.

Could you please speak some on the issue of feeling embarrased when speaking in a foreign language and how we can overcome it.

Hi!
Steve I will upload a video where I explain how to switch on automatic captions. I think it should work. Btw, nice movie as always.

Thanks. One day, when we have Polish at LingQ I hope to learn a bit of your wanguage.
I did what you suggested and still do not see the red CC button. It appears on a few of my videos and I do not know why.

The kids won't fall asleep but they might say "what the heck am I paying this guy for?"
I don't need to pay this guy to tell me to put my Ipod on.
