If not for US pressure, Pakistan government would negotiate with the Taliban rather than fight against them. But if Pakistan government negotiate with the Taliban, US would call them supporting terrorism. So they have to fight the war imposed on them.

What do you call the $one billion the US gave the Taliban? Afghanistan is 34 provinces that behave autonomously. The war is unwinnable but is great for the goal of perpetual war. The USA is a great perpetuater of war but will not win a war because that would end the war. The Afghans know that eventually the US will leave and then they have to deal with the Taliban. The US will be forced to bring it's troops home from all over the world, when the dollar fully collapses by the end of 2010.
