Great performance....I THINK that the DVDs that are out there of this show are copies/burned VHS to DVD and has NOT officially released on DVD (or the quality)....
In their groove... So friggin' hot! Christmas on the 25th... My Birthday on the 26th... Cruiser on the 27th... I'm lovin' it... Can't get enough of this song and video... Can't say enough how much i love it! Thanks Guys, i love ya's!
Oh yeah, btw, Ben has so much control and restraint. Who wouldnt be going wild on stage, instead he just plays it way too cool. They do make it look so easy. Smashing! Amazing stage presence and music quality. And speaking of 'presence' and 'presents', enjoying this video is my gift this year! Merry Christmas Everyone! xoxo EjGerbino.
Not enough wonderful words can describe just how great The Cars are! But you know what, Ben defines the word 'cool'. This song is for sure my fave Cars classic! It's so moving & driving & ultra 'cool'. They're the perfect band. The style, the class, the sex-appeal. These guys had it all. Plus, they were mega-hit talented genius. On the same level with The Beatles. Maybe the Rock & Roll HOF isnt good enough for legends like these, there isnt enough wall-space to exhibit all of their Gold Records!
Calling all Ben Orr fans to our video page which will feature most Orr and Cars related songs...Also see on how to join our exclusive, private by invitation only group!
I like the call / response of "Cruiser" in the chorus, I don't think the LP version does that. One of the two great songs off Shake It Up (A Dream Away being the other)
@ragdollaugust You have a good eye Ragdoll.I like that .But I think his coolness was from 0-5:10.He KNEW he was cool....I sitll miss him 33 yrs later :(
This concert was released on VHS clear back in the mid-eighties. You can find it out there, it is worth the trouble, just get a clean copy. This clip is from that VHS tape.
I've always loved this song and it never got much airtime when Shake It Up came out! One of Benny's best songs IMO anyway but then I like ALL his songs :-)
This is the ultimate BEST version of Cruiser ever and I have been looking for it for years online! I have the 80's VHS of this concert but I can't find it among my stuff. I am SO grateful to the person who posted this... another couple of great live versions of songs are Day In Day Out by Bowie and Little Miss Dangerous by Ted Nugent, not the live album version, the concert version....
I actually like much of the fashion from the 80´s:) but we´ve all got different taste and there were much weird fashion in the 80´s so I understand you^^
Check also "cruiser 1982" here in You Tube. Ben sings completely different way with this version + total cool. If you want to hear more awesome vocal of Benjamin Orr, try also "live aid just what i needed"+"all mixed up stereo" here. RIP Ben. You are one of the greatest vocalist + my most favorite musician in highschooltime. I´ll never forget about you !
@dobegirl01 it's just criminal to be hiding those gorgeous eyes behind dark glasses. i think i might have dropped dead right there.

Was major hairspray the trend of the eighties or what!?
TheEldweebo 1 year ago
@TheEldweebo No, hairspray was not the trend of the 80's. That is when mousse and hair gel were big.

"Sucker punch is in your heart." Just one of many cool lines in this song among hundreds in all their stuff. An aggressive song that I just love.

Thanks again Benny!!! Love this song and Ben so much!!!
Gina97xls 3 years ago 6
This is strange- Ben is speaking the lines more than singing them, for the most part.
He perks up a bit more at the end, at least.
Maybe he was having a bad day.

"...set aside the screaming fish" -- always a great lyric
On the album this was second to "A Dream Away" but being more guitar-based it worked better on stage.
Thanks for posting!

set aside the screaming fish!!
That has always been one of my favorites.
But "set aside the screaming fish" it means nothing at all.
I Still love this song.
Great tune from The Cars....RIP Beng.
