  • omg her pianissimo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thomastmwc I know. Nobody else can spin that shimmering crystal pianissimo like this. So grateful for these recordings. And when I consider that all singers lose the majority of their magical sound on recordings, I can only imagine how spellbinding this was live.

  • I have this recording. I think it's great.

As far as a trill is concerned, I don't hear one. There are some nice grace notes but no real trill.

  • One of the best! She manages to convey the drama while maintaining a lightness in the upper range the vocal agility appropriate to the role. When was this recorded?

  • It is important to indicate also the date of the recording. Thanks for posting. Divin!

  • Does she hit a pianissimo D at 5:48?

  • @jmiller05 She does indeed, she was so good, I was impressed but that D too.

  • The best humored, superb coloratur... Nice nice Lady...

  • are you kidding, Nathalie Dessay sings it like a little fragile thing with a certainly nice but cold and thin voice. Caballe is much broader and sensual.

  • natalie dessay sings exactly the same!

  • the best Violetta ever!!

  • @UtochkinaKaterina The BEST violetta vor ever's Devia, Sutherland, Dessay, Netrebko, Cinzia Forte and Fleming!

  • @sebastien1chartry And Callas too.

  • Caballe, Callas, Sills, and Sutherland are my favorite Violettas.

  • beautiful voice, but i would do anything to hear yma sumac singing arias :P

  • Her pianissima is unmatched. In can also be heard in her rendition of Signore Ascolta where she holds the high B for about 15 seconds.

  • Gorgeous...my favorite after Moffo.

  • how many lungs does she have? six?

  • Y MUCHAS DE LOS MUCHOS, MUCHÍSIMOS LOGROS DE ESTA ARTISTA SE LLEVARON A CABO EN DIRECTO, AL CONTRARIO DE LO QUE SE DICE DOS COMENTARIOS MÁS ABAJO (Di Vergy, Don Carlo, Semiramide, Norma, ¡AY! ME FALTARÍAN CARACTERES..)

    Gracias.

  • The greatest soprano of our time!!!

  • She is like a nightingale!!!!

  • One of the most compelling "Ah Fors'è Lui"s I've ever heard. She got the emotion down pat. The Sempre Libera drags a bit as a result, though. I find her coloratura most exceptional, and she doesn't miss a single note--I hear every single one. I also love how she sings the phrase "dee volare" And is it just me or is she not at all trilling?

  • buffffff what a pianos, what a extremely beatiful and musically voice. I love it!!

  • Montserrat's Traviata ranks among the best portrayals of Violetta Valéry. When I heard her "Addio del passato" I had tears in my eyes. But there are also very good Traviatas from Maria Callas, Ileana Cotrubas, Anna Moffo ... and Montse of course! Brava!

  • Actually, this is the studio recording and it is in key...

  • transposed down, still beautiful.

  • @tklogan11809 esatto!
