  • 1:05 "time to blow this thing up now. 3 2 1 lets jam!"

  • That girl is a saxophone PRODIGY.

  • Comment removed

  • @zachesmith It was played awfully.

  • @Summonick2 It really wasn't bad at all considering how friggin difficult that solo is.

  • @zachesmith My comment was pretty blunt. The solo itself has difficulty, but she played it very averagely. I guess I just took it as an insult, im sorry ._.

  • wadsworth constant applies

  • love the guitar intro

  • I dare say, the Seatbelts may have created a jazz standard

  • i said it before and i'll say it again, this is magical. I've seen MANY "TANK' versions that this rocks

  • @GuiltySparkFilms nope it's Tigard high school

  • @goodbadandguywitgun

Actually, it's James E. Taylor High. It's a high school in Texas. I remember going to school with these guys. The band program there has always been pretty excellent.

  • lol 2:10

our trumpets just played random shit instead of what was written :P

  • it's pretty okay, but i have to say that it's also not more than that. maybe i would've found better if i'd have seen this live.

the trumpets could be more on time and more present and the trombones are too noisy there. it could also be a little faster or groovier, (what's up with the bass sound?) the sax soloist is a little shy, but she actually does her job good.

but maybe most of this is just because the bad video quality. i find it really cool, that you actually played this! :D

  • That was quite good, nice playing you guys/gals!

  • かっこいいぜ!!

  • Brilliant job! Really, that was awesome! Fantastic ending too.

  • oh well, they tried.

  • Kudos to the band and the director! It's no easy feat to organize students and instill passion into them. These kids sounded great, and I hope they stick with their instruments post high school.

  • u notice on every video on youtube there are always like 2 or 3 people pissed off and bitching at each other. and one guy spells something wrong and the other guy has to point it out like they're retarded. lol funny business.

  • Awww trumpets took it down an octave, I was about to get excited.

  • your saxophones make me want to sex them

  • trumpets were too legato imo

  • YEAH! I've always dreamed of playing this song with my band but unfortunately we never managed to. You people rock and I bet you had a great fun playing! :D I'm also curious, who did the arrangement?

  • I mean wats the band arrangenent for this song

  • whats band arrangement for this song

  • The closest to the original version I've ever seen in my life, the sax solo is too much to can expect an exact cover, amazing final :P

  • What THS is that?

  • @quesokasecheese Tracy High School

  • My school should have played this. My friend is an excellent sax player and would have destroyed that solo.

  • The girl's solo fell flat. That part should have been the highlight of that piece. Too bad.

  • @hyderesurrected ugh i agree. the highest rated coment here is the guy bein nice and sayin the girl played the solo well, but wtf man she DESTROYED the fukin solo...and i dont mean that in a good way. that was fukin terrible, even for high skool level, im sorry..and that ending...just...UGH!

  • @DaLooseGoose11 Dude, I would love to see you play it any better, She was amazing!! Now go troll on some other video

  • @Billeliote i was NOT troling wen i wrote that man LMFAO! im jus sayin it as it is...it was pretty bad...still tho, i forgive her because doin solos is NERVEWRACKING, i shuld kno, as i did quite a few (PERFECTLY may i add?..) bak in high skool

  • @DaLooseGoose11 First, I wanna point out you spelled back and school wrong. Second, it doesn't count when your solo is on the pots and pans in your kitchen

  • @Billeliote who CARES if i speled that crap wrong?..i can obviously spell it right, i jus dont want to. its the INTERNET, not freakin high skool

and pots and pans in the kitchen? wow like who the fuk would even DO that, like seriously? Wow, idk if that was an insult or not, but i dont care anyways because that was pretty terrible..You gotta be more creative than that. i mean, im givin u pointers now, thats just sad...

  • for a high school band that was amazing. probably the best i've heard that wasn't a professional band

  • sax to sax nice solo!! you killed!!! =D

  • that's so awesome.

where did you get the sheet music from?

  • so jealous. Our highschool band sucked. Wish we coulda played this.

  • I love how everyone with a small, black hat and a suit can look so Damn Jazzy. ;'D

  • did someone in the band recommend to play the song or was it the teacher?

  • Hell yea girl fellow sax myself play that thang that was tight and you had kept on going that really was very well played sax lady!

  • AWESOME!

I totally love it. Rock - er... SWING ON!

  • goosebumps lol, nice solo

  • very professional conductor...

    -.-

  • Epic jealousy..... that girl on sax was good, the trumpets were amazing, and the teacher is awesome for getting them to place something so epic so well :D

  • WOW! What I love about this band (apart from the awesome sound they produced) is how cool they all looked while they were playing. It was great seeing smiles on their faces! They just looked so relaxed. :D

  • why can't my school do this :/

  • I LITERALLY HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF THESE; DON'T BOTHER LOOKING FOR MORE. THIS IS THE BEST beyond the main band (i'm not even screwing with you)

  • wow, i love that girl; i would have the saxaphonist's babies; seen a lot of good tank stuff; she is phenomenol

  • Awesome

  • "I think it's time to blow this scene, get everybody and their stuff together. Ok. 3, 2, 1 LET'S JAM!"

    See you, Space Cowboy...

  • sax player is ok though!

  • biggest problem with all of these other jazz bands doing this song no upright bass. That's what holds the song together not using is an insultto yoko kanno!

  • @hanj31 This is true and i completely agree with you, but the stand up bass costs just a little bit of money (if you know what i mean) and most schools (at least here) are trying to cut back on costs. Usually the department that's going to get cut is the band because its so dang expensive

  • EXelent start up lol!

  • This is the best perform of Tank I've ever seen ;D Really good♥

  • OMG This is amazing!

    Im going there this year.

  • no soul put forth

  • awesome job!!

  • badass

  • love how the bass guitar and the bongos are sol clear at the beginning. really good job guys! Tank has destroyed more than one jazz band!

  • Awesome! I want to perform this for my jazz band!

  • Comment removed

  • It started out good and then it turned into this powerhouse of awesome. :D I can tell the audience enjoyed the song a lot even if maybe 99% of them didn't know where it came from. All this performance needs for me is a deep, sexy voice saying the opening line. ;]

  • Too bad the student audience, assuming, don't know this song, otherwise they'd be wild.

  • over did it with the bass guitar

  • Nice performance, but Seatbelts destroy it xD

  • @Lik3iGiv3

    ^ Completely Missing The Point

  • Low end needs to back off but the bass and bongos were perfectly balanced (for once!)

  • Amazing !

  • dang, i think this is the 2nd best i've seen. the original band, "The Seatbelts," epicly destroyed this song in a really good way.

  • amazing! all the trumpeters are wearing hats!

  • This is probably the best performance of this song I've seen on YouTube! Aesome job, the alto sax player is great with that altissimo. It's a shame the trumpets couldn't play higher though, it just doesn't sound as good as it good be. Although I guess I can't really comment on trumpets since I'm a sax player myself. I'm gonna ask my director if we can play this.

  • I told myself I'd get my band conductor to let us play this in jazz band all through high school but I never did. I was lead alto too :-(

Now I'm in wind symphony in college so I'm gonna ask my band teach to play the band arrangement of the Kingdom Hearts 2 opener one of these days.

  • That would be so cool too!

  • It would be, I don't know what he'd say though. He's a cool guy but I don't know the right way to ask him.

  • That's my school for ya.

I'm sure this is from the year after I graduated, though... ...Because I would remember this much EPIC.

  • lol typical high school solo. BLUES SCALE BLUES SCALE BLUES SCALE, no changes and tone quality and vibrato that scream "I don't really listen to jazz."

I'm impressed that a high school kid didn't flub out on the altissimo though. Pretty awesome.

  • dope! TANK LIVES!!!!

  • I laughed at 1:57 because I was expecting the screamer trumpets and then nope, octave lower. But man the rhythm section is crackin'. Nice live performance by the band for sure.

  • First time I've heard this done well by anyone other then The Seatbelts.

    Bravo, one and all.

  • No other recording, except for the Seatbelts themselves play a high D. High school jazz bands apart from West or East coast schools (who are around major states and don't play this music, unfortunately) can do that.

  • nice solo!!!! i wish my school did this

  • Very good but... no stand up bass???

  • Give the drummer some! Or in this case, the bongos. I love it!

  • Something about this song is just hard to play... my band practiced for a couple days and then dropped it... too bad...

  • perhaps the trumpet players needing to be able to hit up to a high D and deciding to do it down an octave, therefore killing the song?

  • Wow that girl sax player is awesome! O.O Amazing job with the solo and the ending!!!

I'm actually a flute player but I also like the sax so I bought one and I'm learning how to play it. I really want to play this song. =P

  • ahh a girl sax player that can solo *jizzes in pants*

  • she can't

  • I like this interpretation!

  • Cool of your band teacher to be open minded enough to let you play something out of an Anime sound track...I don't know if mine would have made it past the fact it was from a cartoon to hear how good the music is.

  • I think it's an ambitious piece to begin with but they did it some justice. I'll agree with the other posts that an electric instead of upright bass did bring a little attention to it but if anythign I'd say it's like having a scar, it gave it some character. There were times however when imo the horns went from sounding like a jazz band to sounding like a marching band. My only critique.

  • Doesn't sound right with an electric bass...

I like the bongos though! :D

    Great performance overall! ^^

  • damn they should have taken that out and gone upright

  • gotta agree, songs definately a sax feature but its nothin if the trumpets dont have the goods to play the top notes. sounds like a train horn when u take it down an octave.

didn't like the altered bass line in the begining but wans't bad. Good to see the sax was able to hit the ending atleast.

  • aww trumpets you disappoint, take it up the octave :P I don't know how many other high schoolers can do that, I could when I was a junior but it just came naturally to me, I'd assume you need quite a bit of practice. Nice shot at his solo though, keep it up, you nailed the ending sax part.

  • wow very close to the original :D im impressed :P

and wow that sax solo ..... <3 just beautiful many thanks to her cause it was just so nice.

  • omf, band director much love =P' I've always wanted my corps to something like this, but omf your sax solo is sickness!! i love her!!

  • omfg, i would marry her, she is f'ing awsome!

  • omfg, well done, well done! i absolutely love this!

  • omf, you're talented!]

    Saxophone - HORRIBLE!!!

  • Freaking awesome job. Best HS version I've listened to so far. I like this.

  • Shit guys, this is great! I wish the band played this well together while I was there!

Is this the arrangement I brought in? (arr. by Eric Dannewitz)

    -Bryan C

  • WOW!... This is the closest one I've heard to the Cowboy Beebop Tank!....VERY well done... watch those high notes.

And the girl that played the solo, she did VERY well under a larger audience. She sounded nervous because she flopped the reed in the beginning, but very good rebound.

Does she have a professional instrument because I have one but it doesn't sound as airy? Kudos for the well done job.

You go Sax. GIRL, SWING that JAZZ.

    Idk

  • Thats excellent! Fair play to them!!

  • Missing lead trumpet on some of those chords, kinda makes it lose some depth

they're damn high note though, so I'll give it to him

I probably shouldn't have listened to The Seatbelts version right before this one, makes you hear alot of stuff that's missing

This is an extremely difficult song though, and it's one of the best (school) versions I've heard

  • Is it just me...or does the conductor..not conduct very well...or much at all...(I have been enrolled in band for over 5 years so I'm speaking from experience)

  • Jazz is a very loose form and many conductors, including mine, conduct in a really relaxed manner. Often dropping out as the band continues. If you have a good drummer and bassline, it works fine.

  • that was amazing!!!!!

  • Funny, THS is my high school's name, Taylorsville High School.. I was like, "that doesn't look like it..."

  • Too bad probably only like 7 people in the audience knew what it was from, and could truly appreciate it.

    Good performance though.

  • awesome! :)

  • I find it awkward how much the bari player looks like me o_O; I'm almost threatened... and oops at the trumpet beef towards the beginning :/

  • i shit a brick wall from how awesome this was.

  • wow. I played the bari sax in my high school jazz band and we were never anywhere close to sounding like this

  • Oh hell yes, another bari player :D I want us to play this so bad?

  • i also played bari sax! Exept my school had like a $8,000 one, so every note felt like haven, and the mouth peace was awesome. But i quit that and went back to alto because there are harder parts in the alto.

  • The Bari part is pretty dull though, I have the score lying around somewhere.

  • no way you can buy the sheet music? DO WANT!

  • I've played the Bari Part, and really it's not all that bad, at least our arrangment wasn't, and this band is actually leaving out a lot of the subtle Bari lines. Also they are overstaffed in the Bones...odd.

  • that rhythm section is fucking solid. they get the prize.

  • wow, the solo with the saxophonist girl was incredible. and the guys in the back row really set the mood with the hats and everything haha

  • Well the solo is pretty good improv for whats really written, but that doesn't mean anyone gets off the hook.

  • what do you mean?

  • The solo is different from the original, but is good also.

  • this actually the best high school version I've heard!!

  • messed up at 1:55 damn trumpets thiink their so cool cuz they can play loud then they mess up and feel stupid. Saxs rock I play Alto. I learned how to play this song in like 3 different keys

another fuck up at 3:58 sorry thatIm pointing this out but real nusicians have to. but this time it sounded like the whole band couldnt really pinpoint a source

oh yeah solo was good exept for the begining but if she was playing guitar hero she would still get 5 stars! Nice Job!

  • The song is very difficult.

The sax messed up a lot, too!

It wasn't played too well but they still did a good job at it.

The part of the sax is so incredibly important in this one and it's extremely hard to do it well together with the other ones.

  • no lead trumpet notes...

  • Maaaaaaaannnnn u guys are amazing! I wish my high school was like this. T_T

  • Haha, I see me!

  • COWBOY BEBOP NIGGah

  • very nice ok tampo, very lame soloing. period.

  • what a lame ass guitar player

  • best tank! peformance yet!

  • i have yet to see a high school jazz band that throws in the words.

  • if our school band ever did it, i would insist that we threw the words in.

  • mine does

  • I think its about time we blow this scene. Get everybody and your stuff together. 3-2-1 lets go

  • "...let jam"

  • key note I want to point out, the solo does not have to be like the original. This is possibly one of the best performances of TANK! a few mistakes here and there. Ok maybe not so great, but the beginning was killer! Love the congo drums!

  • the solos sections are always improv in jazz... even in live performances the seatbelts improv their solos but keep key milestones to refer too.......if you get me?

  • Not really likin the solo but I guess it was good for this simple song. The band was....really bland...Not really much contrast to dynamics or sound as I would percieve this song to be. But I guess it was nice for a try.

  • This is a pretty good cover, and to response to those who say its not perfect- Jazz is upto self interpretation thus doesnt matter if you get it completly the same

  • is this THS like taylor high school?

  • Yes in Katy Texas

  • haha i go to that school

  • the last high not by the solo sax was a teeeeny bit flat but still amazing

on some many recordings people dont even attempt to play that so thumbs up.

the solo was iffy at the beginning but you came back to amaze me. you have some real skill and a great tone quality (especially for jazz)

but there was 1 trumpet (that i cant pick out because its in a video) that was outta tune and hit some very wrong notes.

the trombones were great. a nice dark and loud sound... but not too loud.

    GJ Guys!!!!

  • Haha, she actually played a different last note because at the time the E flat wasn't responding so she just played a D, it works for a musically illiterate audience though.

  • @bobsatanbob trombones sounded that way because there's like seventeen of them playing

  • this is probably the best Tank! video played by someone other than the Seatbelts... but not perfect as someone said earlier...

  • really nice song!!!

    fantastic!!

Anyone knows where I can get the scores?¿?¿

  • you mean like for a whole band?

    Goooooooooogle! XD

  • nice altissimo A's and C's

    not perfect but very good.

  • YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!
