  • so ur saying vauxhell monaros where exported to australia??? like hell they were

  • @MileHighScaper,

No I didn't say that, you fuckwit.

Read it again. I said the only Vauxhalls that are made in Australia are the Monaro and the VXR8.

You are the fuckwit that said "All Vauxhalls are made in Australia", a comment that is very false.

There have been a lot more Vauxhalls imported into Australia than rebadged Holdens exported to the UK.

I believe that you don't understand what I am saying because you are an ILLITERATE MORON. Learn how to spell.

  • VAUXELS ARE HOLDEN COMMODORES!!!!!!!!!!! CANT U BRITS UNDERSTAND THAT!@!!! ALL VAUXELLS ARE FROM AUSTRALIA!

  • @MileHighScaper,

    You dickhead.

The only Vauxhalls that were made in Australia are the Vauxhall Monaro and the Vauxhall VXR8. There were also a few Vauxhall Vivas back in the late 1960s that were manufactured in Australia and exported back to the UK.

There have been many, many more Vauxhalls built in the UK over the last 70 years or so that have been exported to Australia.

  • this may be a stupid question but is it possible to get this review and other reviews of the time by Jeremy Clarkson on dvd? If so what dvd or video is this HSV review on?

  • @carchia2008 yep its called clarkson head to head.

  • silly silver side skirts

  • Bar-Thirst lol

  • When saying bathurst dont put a r sound between the a and the t. It will sound weird but thats how to pronounce it.

  • clarkson is such a faggot

  • @ucwepn Doesn't matter had sex.

  • It looks like a Vauxhall??

ahhhh no no no, Vauxhalls were based off the holden commodore, not the other way around!

  • @MrKayakFisho

well clarkson was right abou that.

also you are forgetting one thing, most of the old Holden and Vauxhall models actually baseds on Opel models. (not other way around).

  • 2.18 ''sound of the 5.7 Litre V8''. That didnt even sound like a V8 .... like most modern V8's! Damn mufflers!

  • Clarkson is lazy & his credibility is suspect.

He's done no homework & is ignorant of the fact that Australia uses the metric system of measurement and the Holden's speedometer is calibrated in kilometres per hour.

At 3.23 he says the car is doing 50 miles per hour at 1000 rpm. That's an incredibly tall gearing. If it was true it would only be ticking over at a little more than 5000 rpm when it passed a Bugatti Veyron at top speed.

  • @bobcooper31 Well its true it can do 60mph at 1500rpm, the stroked 5.0L is a very lazy low reving high torque engine, the LS1 which replaced this engine is the opposite and loves to rev with very little torque at low revs and everything happens above 3000rpm.

  • @ucwepn " its true it can do 60mph at 1500rpm,"

Ratio & proportion prove that your claim conflicts with Clarkson statement.

If his claim that it does 50mph at 1000 rpm is true then at 50% higher revs (1500) it must do 75mph (not 60 as you claim). Final drive ratios don't vary.

With Aussie speed limits around 110kmh (70mph) the engine wouldn't exceed 1400 rpm.

Maths prove you both wrong & GMH wouldn't build a car that uses less than 20% of its engine performance. Do you mean 1500 = 60kmh

  • @bobcooper31,

Just because the engine is only at 20% of it's rpm range in 6th gear doesn't mean that it only uses 20% of it's engine performance.

Why would you want the fucking thing to be at red-line when you are doing 110 km/h?

The VE SS Commodore 6 speed manual does 65 km/h per 1000 rpm in 6th gear. So at 110 km/h it will be doing 1700 rpm. But pull it back to 4th and it will be doing 3000 rpm.

If you don't understand this then you had better hand in your drivers licence!

  • @bobcooper31,

1375 rpm at 110 km/h is a nice place for this engine to be. Fuel economy is better, the engine is smoother and it will have a longer life.

If you want it to rev faster then you can pull it back to 5th gear. It is not really that hard.

  • @ucwepn I'd believe that.. i've been in one and it redlines at something like 5500~rpm

  • This is the aussie redneck bogan car... Its sooo nasty and old!!

  • Nek minut GTR!

  • My only question is why the hell don't we get the car here in the USA? As durable as Aussie built cars are, we need something like that here, to teach us Yanks how to build cars.

  • This must be his hippy twin brother

  • Way back when , I remember watching the James Hardie 1000 , Clarkson was speaking of , and seeing the drivers smoking cigarettes while racing , ah the good old days .

  • @79HZGTS Thats why i brought the stroker, tough as and truck loads of torque down low, 400nm from idle! They still get the typical rear main seal leak though.

  • Proof that even when you put a British journalist behind the wheel of a Holden, in Britain, you can't help but turn into Jezza from the Western Suburbs on a Friday night.

  • Baaaathuuurst. Jeremy Clarkson = Worlds biggest Cock

  • hahahahaha, 5.7liter v8 only produce 300hp, that's........ bold.

  • @jessechen998 this engine is about torque, thats why it does such great burnouts.

  • I have vids of my 1998 Hsv Vt Gts series 1 on my channel.

  • @Megaloryan i agree, i own one of these rare hsv's. Im 25 and have owned it for 3 years (im the 2nd owner) And yes everytime i drive it i get huge smile on my face, a awesome car from factory. I get lots of attention and people wanting to chat and look at it all the time. It is a very iconic car here in aus.

  • Brute looks, big V8 (power and awesome sound inclusive)....enough said, pure awesome! You just know that this car will put a huge smile on your face.

  • Slap a Chevy bowtie on it and it would he would hate it immediately hate it.....The VT Series 1, literally was Holden/HSV's last Australian produced V8, just prior to the introduction of the more powerful Chevrolet LS1 engine....yeah he'll hate it. Love Aussie muscle though - Peter Brock RIP :)

  • wish Clarckson did a segment about when the GTR came to "Bath-hurst" as he calls it

  • Absolutely fantastic cars if they are your sort of thing - and they are indeed mine!! :)

  • he says it looks like a vaxhual which is the European name for holden so get ur facts right u pom

  • @aarongfunkera94 actually the VT was a (heavily) re-engineered version of the Opel/Vauxhall Omega. Significantly superior, but it certainly was reminiscent of the Omega that Clarkson was referring to. It wasn't until later that Holden had the opportunity to design a car from scratch.

  • @TheZHLANE a vt cant be too shit if it sold more then any other model including newer. And you cant talk look at your ZH fairlane, The Hsv vt cars are better then any aussie ford all the way up to bf gt.

  • Still a VT hahahahahha

  • we didn't even get the good canadian castings we got the mexican castings, chev kept all the good ones for themselves, its true its pot luck with Ls1's. The car in the vid is not an Ls1 its a Holden 5L thats been factory stroked. Fucken reliable as.

  • 0-100km/h = 5.7 seconds 0-400m = 14.1@100mph (160km/h) and a top speed of 260+km/h. It will also stop from 100km/h in 35 meters thats better figures then alot of sports cars and its a 4 door family car from 1998.

  • IT WAS THE FASTEST 4 DOOR AUSTRALIAN BUILT CAR IN 1998 AND IS BETTER THEN %95 OF ITS RIVALS IN THAT YEAR MODEL. You all say slow..... Its only slower by half a second to 100km/h and over the 1/4 mile compared to the new models and its 13 years old!

  • shitty bogan commodore

  • HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA he said Bathurst wrong!

  • 6 ford fans disliked this vid

  • it is also a holden 5.0L stroked to 5.7L from factory, Not a Ls1.

  • For everyone out there. I own one of these Hsv's and hsv only made 396 of the Vt Gts series 1, they came out between late 1997 and 1998. 300hp was big for those years and it had 475nm of torque. Plus it is still almost as quick as newer models! 0-100km/h just under 6secs and capable of high 13 second 1/4 mile. I have vids of my Gts on my channel.

  • the two 427 monaros "thrashed" everything at bathurst 24 hour including civic type R's even ferarris and porsches and they were race cars, is your civic type R a race car??

  • @ucwepn But the Nissan GTR beat Everything at Bathurst. So badly in fact, they banned them

  • @Enrage75 yes this is true japan also banned the group A catagory around the same time. GTR was too much

  • @ucwepn, Now lets not forget the Chrysler slant 6 that was banned for ages.

  • @ucwepn yeah, but go out in a modern GTR against modern v8 super cars at bathurst... lets say, the modern v8's hold the lap record so high for a reason.

  • @ucwepn no, group a was just a 'no rules' competition where the richest teams with the most mods won.

  • @ucwepn. Fucken GTR's! WHY SO FAST!!!???

  • @Enrage75 the Nissan was twin turbo these wernt put twin turbos on these and see the difference..

  • @Enrage75 It never should have been allowed to race.

It wasnt a touring car, it was a high tech sports car.

    Plus its mega ugly.

  • @Enrage75 They didn't just ban the GTR but any 4wd cars which gave cars with that configuration a huge advantage in traction therefore acceleration and cornering speed.

Smaller motor vehicle builders like GMH and Ford Australia could never have hoped to build a true competitor in sufficient numbers to make the venture economically viable.

  • @ucwepn WHY?

    BECAUSE RACE CAR

  • Too bad this thing can't corner for shit, these cars aren't the best in cornering ability my Honda civic type R would thrash a V8 super car at bathurst.

  • @Dimitri0809 Are you joking? or are you completely fucking insane? A V8 supercar? Really? Theres no way your piece of fucking shit could even compare to a V8 supercar. Grow a fucking brain.

  • @UltimateFighting666

There's no way your peice of fucking shit could compare to a honda and you underestimate honda anyway because you truly don't know how fast they are and how their cornering ability is, Learn to drive a real drivers car you baboon, just keep being in denial about how your crumpadore is faster than a honda at bathurst.

  • @Dimitri0809 You obviously dont know anything about race cars, pleas stfu.

  • @UltimateFighting666

Ok then for a car that weighs way over 1400 Kg's comparing to a civic that weighs half that weight even though it may not have a V8 in it it will corner better, Brake better and accelerate better. Your a fuckhead who needs to grow a brain because you don't know anything about cars a civic will pawn a holden at bathurst NO DOUBT!

  • @Dimitri0809 You said V8 supercar. SUPERCAR. A 650+hp 10 second 0-100kmh in 3.8 seconds(not setup for drag either) RACE CAR. The engine ALONE costs more that your civic. Please take your tin foil piece of over priced puss, and shove it in your bucket sized vagina.

  • @UltimateFighting666

Correction it's actually a stock V8 but heavily modified, A stock Civic engine heavily modified can put out 450Kw to the wheels and it only has 4 cylinders but it will still beat a V8 super car at bathurst because it will smash it through the corners same goes for a lotus. not to mention these cars weigh under 1000kg's.

  • @Dimitri0809 Look Dimitri0809 i really don't care, so how bout you take your matchbox car and 'drift' your way out of this conversation, and leave muscle cars to the men ok. Now go do your homework and wank your virgin dick to Redtube. Peace.

  • @UltimateFighting666

Ok look at you some big guy talking! Can't handle the facts huh because you fail! how about you shut the fuck up and leave this conversation to real cars you know like the cars I drive in your face bitch!

  • baathurst is what you get from baathing too much

  • when he say 50 mph and he suppose say 50 kmh

  • they detune them before they go out of the factory, so it gives people the option to tune them to pump out a shitload more power :)

  • He's learning the natural burnout skills that us Aussies inherit from our bogan environment - Just from driving the car! That gives you a good idea how Australian the VT GTS is hahaa!

  • @imagod00d as a ford fan through and through, the VT is one of my favourite looking cars, shame bout the cheap plastics used in some of the base models tho

  • @sydneyfcanddascc Very true. Bit of a Ford fan myself. We owned a VS, VX, VYs, and 4 BA & BF Falcons. Holdens never come to par with their plastics. Everything was tacky and noisy to switch. I mean, everything worked, and did it well, but just didn't have that finishing touch, quite raw.

It wouldn't deter me from buying one second hand though.

  • @imagod00d,

Why are you comparing VS and VX Commodores to BA and BF Falcons?

Lets be fair, and compare XF-AU Falcons with VL-VY Commodores. Now which is raw, tacky and poorly finished?

  • @79HZGTS Comparing from my own experiences, rather than year makes (as that would make me a liar as I have not had as much first hand experience).

Eh, still a youngin' myself, I'm not one to judge any models prior to VN/VP and EB/EF Falcons. Been in all models of Commodores and Falcons from VN & EB, right up to the latest ones, so I do know what they're like inside.

Nonetheless, what are your views on the matter?

  • Bye bye Barnley..haha

  • fuck yea thats sum driven at 39 sec!!!!

  • @aussieivan hahahahah i agree holdens are way better then stinking renaults... renaults are peices of shit seriously.. @elvedin555 renaults they may have better power to weight ratio but lets see us take weight out and equal it to same as your lousy renault then see who woops ass yeh??? 5.7 ls1 would just wheelspin past your ass.. we love our BBQS, GIRLS, BEER AND HOLDENS get over it

  • @ozziejase1

Did you know that the 5.7 Gen 3 was one of the WORST V8's that Holden made?? They are the MOST UNRELIABLE POORLY BUILT HEAPs OF SHIT WITH 8 CYLINDERS TO COME FROM GM.

1 out of every 3 Gen3's needed to be rebuilt before 35000km...True fact...Look it up...The Gen 3 was costing Holden more than it was making them...Thats why they moved to the 6.0 with better built internals... So there is no point in being to proud of the FIVE POINT SEVEN.

  • @RAJSTA81 @RAJSTA81 did u know your a dickhead.. piss off with your peice of shit aurion i already know that they had those problems but tell someone who cares.. does it look like im the one that built the motors?? NO.. try get your peice of shit aurion to beat a hsv gts or even a 6ltr.. look at half the toyota motors the only good motors they have are 1jz 2jz..

  • @ozziejase1

were on this channel did i say anything about an Aurion??

So your saying that Holden needs to use A V8 (that is almost twice the size in capacity) to beat the Toyotas V6?

LOL, Your right. How shameful for Holden hey?

Try getting your Piece of shit 6.2L HSV to beat the 4.6L Toyota LFA...

Dude you are such a fucking tosser. Where is your 13 second VR V6??

Cmon Pussy, you said that you would upload a video of it.Where is it??

Oh thats right..YOU DONT HAVE ONE.. You lying little FAGOT..

  • @RAJSTA81 nah u just talk shit about ur aurion elsewhere. NO im not saying you need a v8 to beat a v6 idiot a v6 could easyily beat toyota v6 maybe not standard tho dickhead... i never even said i have a 13sec vr dicknob its high 14s.. wow my car can beat some but yeh il get beaten sometiimes but atleast i dont think my car is top shit like you.. fuck off in your lousy aurion peice of shit mate get a real fucking car instead of plastic peice of shit. go jack off in the exhaust looser.

  • @RAJSTA81,

Holden didn't build the 5.7 Gen III engine. They were built at the GM engine factory in St Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

Holden have not built a V8 engine since 2000.

  • @carchia2008 yeh it is a 5.7litre GM LS1. ..

  • 300hp from a 5.7 V8???? how can you get so little power from such a massive engine???

  • @Zlin0035 They're stock family sedans, that's why. Tune them and do minimal work to them and they go.

  • @tkotomy fair doos :)

  • @Zlin0035 300hp from factory in early 2000's aint too shabby... the brand new 6L only makes 450 or so... oh and holdens will always crap all over french cars in a straight line, and thats all that matters

  • What year is this car? Also i was wondering is the engine a GM LS series engine or is it based off the Holden 5.0 iron block? Im American so i dont know a lot about these cars. -thanks

  • @carchia2008 Hi this is the Iron holden block pre ls1 version based on the 304ci stroked to 350ci, this is the series one VT GTS, the series 2 has the 400hp ls1 C4B. My other video shows the series 2 :)

  • @carchia2008 i have one its a 1999 or 2000 not too sure

  • @oldfarted check the rego sheet it will help ya

  • Well elvedin, obviously you don't acknowledge other people's opinions. What a surprise.. Nice talking with ya, arsehole. Drive your Renault. Into a tree.

  • wow how old is this

  • This car can't corner for shit, it moves like a freaking mattress.

  • faggot car, makes me sick seeing it on the road oooooffff vomittttt

  • @elvedin555 in Australia you would get run over by a UTE for saying that

  • bogan cars worse cars ever i used to kill them with my renault!

  • @elvedin555 LOL renault, is it pink?

  • @ucwepn metalic blue.

  • @elvedin555 haha dream on

  • @elvedin555 Let me see, 'Proud to be Holden' vs 'Proud to be Renault' LOL. Australian pride mate. That's what Holden is to us, right up there with beer and barbies. (the hotplate, not the doll) Deal with it. Simple physics sir. A lighter car will produce a faster result based on speed, especially on take-off. Maybe you should ask Renault to manufacture a vehicle that weighs a good 1.7 tonnes, then get it to perform the way a Holden Commodore does. Yeah...righto.

  • @aussieivan

still piece of a shit whats good about it? power? i dont think so.. mates m5 ate senature what ever its called and the price of that box is so high as its a ferrari pppfftttt... nothing is good about them massive buttons inside green lightning and always there is one tail light off or its different colour im sure holden has relised that ! in the bin please holdens and fords ... makes me sick as its all others.

  • @elvedin555 french cars are way too over engineered. holdens are simple and get the job done.

  • @elvedin555 hahahahahaha did it come with a matching handbag mate?

  • Not Bath Hurst you idiot Clarkson Bat Hurst

  • never saw these cars in this shitty country and never will. If you want to buy crap cars we have plenty of them.

  • they should make them text and drive then it would be a fun race

  • It's like sitting in Claudia Shiffer.

  • BAARRTHIRST ROFLL

  • wow Jeremy looks so young in this one

  • Haters going to hate.

  • OH COME ON YOU KNOW ITS CRAP LIKE AN ELEPHANT ON ICE

  • ITS A PIECE OF CRAP MADE BY DRUGGED UP BOGANS IN ELIZABETH SOUTH AUSTALIA

  • @RedBeretXXX Faggot.

  • bar thirst

  • 0 to 60 in 6 seconds? is that supposed to sound impressive? lol

  • @ughonceagain910 back in 1999 yeahh it is

  • @ughonceagain910 6 seconds is pretty good for an engine first used in 1969. 1969-2000, not a bad run. How many cars did 0-100km/h less than 6 seconds in 1969?

  • Yeah we Aussie's make a nice CAR

  • @k1ngOfMaul (american motor in it)

  • @10yroldcarlover The 304 stroker was an australian built motor, not to be confused with the LS1.

  • @10yroldcarlover,

    It's not an American engine.

Commodores didn't use American engines until after 1999.

  • gto

  • @Heath3250 - You're aware the GTO is a Holden Monaro, aren't you? (The modern one, not the classic one).

  • @JBofBrisbane Yes that's why i put that lol

  • barth hurst indeed

  • This Holden is = pontiac gto, vauxhall monaro

  • The VT Commodore uses a modified (enlarged) Opel Omega chassis. The suspension components are in most cases identical between the Omega and Commodore.

  • Hmmmm.... Alot of people are saying Opel omega.... This car is the HSV (Holden special vehicles) "T" series GTS... The only vehicle it is based on is the chassis from the Holden VT commodore which was designed and built in Australia... Many cars are based off it the Holden monaro was a two door version which America adopted in 2003-2004 as the new Pontiac GTO and Vauxhal also started selling them as the Vauxhal GTO.

  • @Blandy086 the VT was based on the Opel omega(in terms of styling), google search some pictures

  • 1.55 ha ha looks like a opel omega maybe jeremy because it is one

  • vauxhall = shyte

  • "It can out corner a dog..."

Why doesn't Clarkson speak like this any more??

  • @lucrativeelfmongrel He's old, thats why! ;-P

  • bAHHHthurst..... hahahaha ya silly pom

  • @W00Dclash haha! Go get stung by a stingray lol!

  • @lucrativeelfmongrel your a fat cunt yankee, clearly with no respect. grow up faggot.

  • Thumbs Up if you thought the driver was doing the middle finger at 00:51

  • the day holden comes to canada and i don't mean the pontiac G8 wanna be i mean the real thing and if ford ever brought the falcon up here as well OMG snow driving will change forver!!!

  • The whole Idea behind BHP per liter is crap. You guys who think because a car revs to 10k and makes 400 hp at 10k with its 4 liters its superior to a 7 liter that revs to 6k? The tach is just a number and you couldnt tell otherwise. I could easily change the six to a nine on a v8s tach and volla! Were reving to 9k! Fact is its a power band, every car has one compare those. Who cares if your car revs to 10 k when for the first 8k rpm it makes no power or torque!

  • what season and episode is this from

  • @mr9mr This is not actually top gear but jeremy clarksons dvd head to head.

  • lol 'barfurst'

  • Review the Cadillac Catera while you're at it... same thing again.

  • @PeetPeeet,

    Not really.

The Cadillac Catera only ever had a V6 engine.

The Australian Holden Commodore was the only V-platform car to have a V8 engine.

  • I have the SS version of this, mine is red so it is quicker. :)

  • porno music

  • I have this car in my garage

  • This was fifteen years ago after all...i think there up to about 315kw now. But id wish theyed change this formula for this category of racing soon....the holden v ford thing is getting a bit old...and they dont make 5L v8s with live rear axles any more....its just become a big ad for holden...why do u thing they race in Bahrain and China...because thats where they sell them. V8s...yes please.....but more manufactures .

  • it is based on a Opel Omega!

  • @eggbirdtherooster other way around, man

  • @OneWayTrip1 okay.. so in wich year it came out first in Australia? sorry for my bad englich ;)

  • @eggbirdtherooster The VT Commodore (The model upon which this is based) was released in 1997.

  • @OneWayTrip1 okay! but the Omega B was released at the end of 1993.. the design is by Opel/vauxhall.. later rebadged as a cadillac and Holden. But it doesnt matter cause its all GM anyway :-)

In 2001 Opel had plans for putting a V8 in the Omega.. It never happen sadley.. 3.2 is the biggest for the Omega

I have 3.0 V6 from 1998.. its starting too rust a little bit :( hows the Holden's doing it? also rusty after 12 years?

  • @eggbirdtherooster Actually I've got a 1988 Commodore, and the thing still looks and drives like it did the day it came out of the showroom. Most Australian Holdens (and Fords) are built quite robustly.

  • Sum1 put this idiot in a xr6 please

  • American engine's always have one thing in common. They are slow reving and underpowered for their displacement due to archaic pushrod design and crossplane crank.

  • rofl! 1:21 ronald mcdonald! xD

  • This is a series 1 GTS with the Aussie built cast iron block 5.0 litre V8 stroked to 5.7 litre it made 220 kW or close to 300bhp.. The Series II VT with the 5.7 litre GENIII LS1 V8 made 250kw or close to 335bhp, the VTII GTS made 300 kW aorund 400 bhp thanks to a Calloway version of the LS1..

  • Audi RS6 Avant V10 engine from Lamborghini 5.0 L 500+ KW piss off!!

  • @flypunk90 It's Lamborghini that uses Audi's v10 engine dude. Give credit to the right manufacturer...
