Everything about this makes me so sad... Just knowing this was the LAST TIME they sang that song on that stage in that theater... And the claps to Jonathan, every time I see that I just want to cry.

Amazing show. Two amazing casts on that stage. And music that will live on.

Only thing that is missing, is Idina and Taye from the OBC.

Makes me sad that RENT was never a huge success over here in the UK, because it really deserves to be.

i just full on sobbed hahaha, and i NEVER cry. i just did rent over the summer, worked with some of the most amazing people ever, and made some of the best friends i've ever had. this just brings back so many happy memories for me, easily the best show i've ever done. i'll never forget it. i also saw it on broadway about 2 years ago, i would have killed to see the closing/original cast though!

The movie was actually filmed from the last show on Broadway. The camera man stood next to me and said they filmed close ups during the week and edited them in.

I had the amazing opportunity to see RENT in the traveling Broadway show that came to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in October of 2007. Not only was it one of the last times to see the show before it was retired but it was just weeks before the floods of '07 devastated most of eastern and southern Iowa. I screamed "God bless you, Jonathon Larson!" at the end of our show and the later events made me proud of every word. RENT forever changed my life and I hope it'll be around to change my childrens' as well.

For anyone unaware, "RENT: The Final Performance" will be hitting DVD shelves tomorrow. I work at Hollywood Video, and having prescreened it this weekend, I have to say this is one of the most touching performances I've ever seen of RENT. The camerawork is beautiful (the user who posted this will remember how many cameras were moving around the stage, I bet!), the audio is superb... and the final curtain is a tear-jerker.
