Here is my qualifications asshole...not only am I the parent of a disabled child, but I happen to be on my way to a phd in Molecular Genetics with a masters in Bio-Medical Engineering. I personally have studied Epidemiology and even if there WERE a rash overdiagnosis, Autism would hardly qualify as an epidemic. As for me bringing 3 defective bastards into this world, think again. My children are neither defective nor bastards. I was married when all 3 of my children were conceived.
Let's analyze how defective my children are. My oldest who is 4, was accepted into Kinder-College for having capabilites beyond her years in Language arts. Her preliminary IQ scores state that she has an IQ of 143, which in case you are too retarded to know, means she is presumed to be a genius, like her mother(my IQ is 147). Now for my Autistic daughter who, though she hasn't taken an IQ test, is shocking her Developmental Pediatrician every day with her mathematical skills.
At 3 weeks and 4 days before her 3rd birthday she is able to multiply and divide numbers in her head, and get the answers right 94% of the time. As for my youngest, I really can't say what her talents are. She's only 14 months old, but as soon as I see them, I'll be sure to let you know. Now let's see, government assistance...nope. Giving an IQ test to a 4 year old is beyond stupid, cause what would motivate a 4 year old to score high? Some children will be willing to cooperate and some won't. My age and amount of children isn't relevant to this conversation, but since you asked, yes...22 with 3 kids. I am also technically married...got married at 17, had my first at 18, second at 19 and third at 21. I don't regret having 3 kids. Before my husband left us because of my 2 year olds diagnosis, we had planned on having 5 kids in 7 years. We wanted to have them young, so we could retire young.

Millions of RX's of drugs were written, doctors and drug companies made shit tons of money. And schools got more money for every kid they had with ADD or ADHD. And now its screwed the kids up and its been shown that most of those kids DIDN'T have ADD or ADHD and it was MOSTLY a money making scam.
So why don't you do some fucking research ON RECENT HISTORY.

how about you do a PROPER search on yahoo...or for that matter, use google...medications they prescribe to autistic children is not to treat the autism, it's to treat conditions that sometimes go along with it...
for example, a lot of autistic children seem to need less sleep than "ordinary" children and will sometimes stay up until 4am, go to sleep and be up at 8am. For children like that they may prescribe clonidine to help the child fall asleep at a decent hour...other children may get medication like Risperdal prescribed to help balance there moods ie a child who tends to become extremely agressive may be prescribed this to even out the mood swings...
you obviously didn't research properly because if you did, then you would see that any medication that an autistic child is on is NOT to treat the autism but to treat underlying deficits...also, most parents are against treating there children with the medication unless it gets to the point that it is the last resort...thanks for the comment though

Like with your son, my daughter was not diagnosed because of "screaming". She was diagnosed because of a mixture between her development delays and behaviors by a developmental pediatrician. My son was thoroughly diagnosed, and he was given a final diagnosis of PDDNOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified) The symptoms that led us to seek help, had NOTHING to do with screaming, or impertinent behavior of any kind, so we know that his symptoms fell within the range of the autism spectrum. Savage is attacking the pharmacutical companys for making money off of innocent parents who believe anything a doctor or a taecher says. He is saying that alot of parents are afraid to discipline with any force and that most of these children are not autistic, but more intelligent than average kids. Well here's the deal ...autism is always ALWAYS diagnosed by a PSYCHOLOGIST (notice I didn't say psychiatrist) who then never sees the patient again after the diagnosis, and even if that psychologist did become a regular therapist for the autistic child or adult, they could not prescribe medication. If Savage wanted to attack the drug companies and pediatricians who too often diagnose psychiatric drugs to children then he should have stuck to doing so. Why would he want to berate autistic children? How do autistic children pose a threat to him? Why would a man who wrote a book titled "Healing Children Naturally" want to hurt children's feelings? Giving an IQ test to a 4 year old is beyond stupid, cause what would motivate a 4 year old to score high? Some children will be willing to cooperate and some won't. Besides, there is bout .5 correlation between IQ and job performance, school, income, etc. Also, some kid's brains develop prematurely. So if you wanna go give you 14month old an IQ test, go for it.

I am also technically married...got married at 17, had my first at 18, second at 19 and third at 21. I don't regret having 3 kids. Before my husband left us because of my 2 year olds diagnosis, we had planned on having 5 kids in 7 years. We wanted to have them young, so we could retire young.

Millions of RX's of drugs were written, doctors and drug companies made shit tons of money. And schools got more money for every kid they had with ADD or ADHD. for example, a lot of autistic children seem to need less sleep than "ordinary" children and will sometimes stay up until 4am, go to sleep and be up at 8am. For children like that they may prescribe clonidine to help the child fall asleep at a decent hour...other children may get medication like Risperdal prescribed to help balance there moods ie a child who tends to become extremely agressive may be prescribed this to even out the mood swings...
