Comedy uses stereotypes for humur. In Shelley's cases, a very high voice. While it's true that not all teenage girls have high voices, it's used in Bat Boy as a constant reminder of just how young and naive Shelley is. That's the only reason why this part, this song especially, should not be any lower.

Seriously? I'm sure you ARE a soprano. Any girl that hasn't reached the age of 20 is a soprano, or else they're a freak. If you're under 20, then it's too soon to tell. Just work on your higher range, you probably ARE a soprano.

I am definately for real. You very well could be a mezzo, but even real honest-to-god mezzos should be able to reach plenty of the notes in a soprano range. I'm just saying, work on the higher range, and THEN go around telling people that you're not a soprano.
