@toonful I met him once at a Grand Opening of a Texaco station in metro-Atlanta. He died less than a year later. There was a very long line but he took the time to look you in the eye and smile at you. I havent had a favorite driver since.
@patrickdron The same way we lost Kenny Irwin, Jr., Adam Petty, and Dale Earnhardt. Ernie Irvan would have also joined Bonnett in 1994 after a practice crash at Michigan. Grant Adcox may have also died the same way at Atlanta near the end of '89, although suffering a heart attack as a result of the crash.
@Reddaytonadog another driver died of a heart as a result of hitting a wall two years later after Adcox passed on. Gary Niece at South Boston in 1991 in a busch series race.
@patrickdron Stock car racing was very dangerous then, although new safety innovations came about with these new cars. Adcox's impact from hitting the wall may have led to it.
He was mainly an ARCA driver ehile he kept ties to Winston Cup. In this case of 1993, both Kulwicki and Allison were lost as a result of aviation accidents, Kulwicki in a plane crash in a nearby area and Davey Allison at Caraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL hours after his helicopter crashed in the infield.
It is so sad that Davey and Alan Both died in plane crashes Merry Christmas and Happy new year Alan and Davey
