  • Les, the link on your Resources Tab on your web page to this item is not correct, I was trying to support you by buying thru your link, but I get this message on dick blick web page " Note — the link you clicked, located on resources, is incorrect. If possible, please report the error to them"

  • is it ok to use this method on my windor and newton series 7's? they arnt drybrushes they are the high quality kolinsky sable ones. pointed. help?

  • Those who live in Germany can buy this brush soap at "Müller Drogerie". It's located at the shaving stuff.

  • Cool, but it looks like the rinsing you are demonstrating in this video is going to ruin your brush or not? I mean pointy brushes.

  • Hey Lester,

do you do this for your detail brushes too? like small 10/0 or just 0? because i thought agitating the bristles... like moving them out of the point is bad for the brush. I'm just getting into painting minis so i really want to make sure im doing everything right.

  • Hi Les.

Saw this yesterday and I tried the same technique just a couple of minutes ago on my drybrushes. They were also really messed up.

Believe it or not, I used an ordinary block of soap, and all my brushes are as good as new!! Worked with the drybrushes, fine pointed synthetical ones and even the old one I use to put on pva glue!

I rinsed them carefully and I can't see any negativ effect on my acrylic paints.

You may try this out since I have no proof right now. Next time ;)

  • I have a question, bear with me, it'll sound stupid but can you put hair conditioner on your brushes to keep them soft? like Im talking high end conditioner, I mean if the bristles are made from real hair why not? anyways if thats a totally stupid idea just lemme know lol thank you:)

  • hey les i heard that the stuff you use in the vidio also keeps the brush pointy is that true (by stuff i mean the masters brush cleaner and preserver)

  • i have those brushes i paint s portraits and stuff like that. do u think the brushes are any good i want another oppinion of them.

  • Doesnt that get annying? Having to keep washing it on your hand?

  • i noticed you talk a lot about Army painter, and Kolinsky bushes, whats you opinion on citadel brushes? are they good for beginner? are they crap whats you opinion?

  • what do you do to oyour finer brushes, like the real-hair ones from davinci?

You would kill them y cleaning them this way

  • I love this stuff, but I wouldn't suggest rubbing it on your hands, I used to do that all the time, than a long time painter (of 50 yrs) told me he had gotten chemical poisoning from doing that! Anyways :P Nice vid!

  • @MonicaReally Thanks for the comment! I also love this stuff! I have only been using water based acrylic non-toxic paints so no worries on poisoning. Great tip though so thanks for that :)

  • @MonicaReally He probably had a cut near the place he wiped his brush...its not gonna go through your skin for sure but if you have any cuts, protect them!

  • I' ve started painting warhammer a week aggo, and I am having trouble with my brushes, it is getting harder and harder to get a fine point on them. Is there anything u can do to give your brushes the same fine point which doesnt fall apart so easally as with which u started?

  • thank you :0)

  • So you mentioned your ultrasonic cleaner, I was wondering what you had and how much it was. Also where did you get it?

  • Hey dude I just started painting and confused about maintaing brush.

I heard bristles are not supposed to be bent or twisted around the ferrule because it's going to damage the brush. The bristles will spread out and the tip will lose its sharpness.

In the video you swirl it around on your hand after you applied the soap. From here it looks like the ferrule is pressed all the way down and in contact with your palm.

  • @str6666 You should try a makeup brush cleaner called Parian Spirit. It cleans, conditions and disinfects your brushes all in one use. It works on all oil based, silicone, acrylic and latex (after drying) products. It cleans really fast and you would not have to clean so many times per brush. Your brushes will feel like new again!

  • Hey Man You Have To Try Out The Coat d'arms professional brushes. They Are AWESOME !!!! Search Them On e b a y they are like 4 bucks each and free shipping.

  • How would you do the scrubbing motion for round brushes and/or smaller brush sizes?

  • Nice vid. After Chris from AG Productions did a vid on this brush soap I picked some up. I also use a brush hanger and fill the pot beneath it with W&N brush cleaner and soak my bad brushes before doing this just like you did (without the ultrasonic cleaner).

  • Thanks for the tip... picked up some cleaner and some sable brushes. Both are brilliant products.

  • I bought this stuff, it works AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Great tutorial as well.

    Cat/

  • what brushes do you use?

  • Army painter, Reaper Master Kolinsky, Da Vinci Kolinsky, Loew-Cornell.

I have an assortment for whatever does the job best.. Cheap brushes for drybrushing and base coating, and the kolinsky brushes for detail and blending.

  • i noticed you were using a royal soft grip which is what i use for all my brushes. what do you think of them. i am thinking of switching over to winser newton series 7

  • Yeah the royal soft grip and loew-cornell I use for drybrushing. WN series 7 is nice also, but I prefer the kolinsky brushes. But like I said, it all about what gets the job done for YOU :)

  • @Kimatoo Yeah I use them too, I hated them at first but they've grown on me :D ....

  • What kind of Ultrasonic cleaner is that?

  • SharperTEK SP Pro

  • I was wondering how to break up the paint! Thank you bud for this video! Very informitive!

  • Anyone have any advice on how to "agitate" a detail brush? I have this stuff and love it, but don't want to ruin the point of any of my series 7's

  • For the small stuff you just have to use your fingers to move bristles around and use strokes like you are painting on your hand. Pulling back and rotating the brush to keep the tip. It also helps to leave the suds on the end of the brush for a couple minutes and let it work.

  • Wow, suprisingly great stuff. Stunning.

  • i wish i could could give you 10 gold stars :D lol i dont realy like it but if you recomend and i love painting i might as well try it

  • I was also debating getting this. Your demo has been very helpful!

  • Amazing job as usual. I was debating on grabbing this and you made my mind up for me. Thanks!

  • Good to know! Thanks for the info!
