I miss this... so much, I just loved it when I caught the box which opened up the entire map and you'd see all these beautiful camps colourfull and shiney on your minimap.. and I would refuse to pick up another box because I was afraid it'd close down the map to a pile of fog again... Ah, memories...

Also, how there was no unit limit, you could litteraly build untill you'd have your 18 inch monitor entirely filled up, and if you've played this game, you know back than, 18 inch was huge, real G!

I wanted to play Dune2000 yesterday, but the scrolling goes so insanely fast, that I can now only see the corners of the map and my base (press "H")...

This is utterly unplayable, as you know from your experience with Dune :P

Also, the cursor rotates super fast (not really a problem, but a symptom)

I've found on the internet that a problem could be that my PC is TOO GOOD for the game, as in: the PC's the game was designed for were A LOT slower.

Anyone have an idea, besides buying an OLD PC?

@Hyshinara I read about similar problem with Red Alert 1, and the answer was about editing the game .ini (or some other textual configuration file). Most if not all Westwood games have it, has a lot of options, so maybe there is a line for scrolling rate. If there is, try setting it to 1 or even 0.01 (if that will work). I've messed with the resolution for Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2, so i now have 1680x1050 =)

@aaronhedberg I don't think Harkonnen are really OP, Atreides have those pesky Ornithopters that keep carpet-bombing your base and Ordos have Saboteurs and Deviators (1-shot kill their buildings AND steal their units)

Ordos can build basedefences out of Deviators and Siege tanks... The more units you send, the bigger his defence grows...

I remember I could win Atreides vs Harkonnen + Ordos, Ordos vs Atreides + Harkonnen, but not Harkonnen vs Atreides + Ordos...

@GameSheriff actually, listen to the track "Fight in the Dunes" from the Emperor: Battle for Dune soundtrack, and around 3:20 in, you'll start hearing some of the same melody used in Rise of the Harkonnen. I found this out myself actually :D

@Zaptagious Dune 2 isn't an easy game to play by any standard (at least not anymore. When it was new, we didn't have anything to compare with, so the interface wasn't really an issue), but it was damned good if not a tad difficult towards the end. I mean, on the last stage you fight three computers (the two Houses you didn't choose plus House Corrino), and if I remember correctly there were a limit on how many structures you could build, meaning the amount of turrets you could have were minimal.

But i have to disagree with you, the map before last is the most dificult. U are in the middle and get attacked from 2 ways.
