The reason why the Celtics traded him was because Doc River's son Austin Rivers plays the same position that Marshon (SG), it's kinda sad that they would let him go eventhough Brooks is way better than Rivers, just because Doc wants to coach his son, that said, give them both some time to see who develops into a better player, because Austin has a lot of potential too, but from my point of view Marshon Brooks > Austin Rivers (but only time will tell wether this assessment is right)

whoever evaluated him as a kobe bryant like player needs to be repimanded. very little of his ball skill set athleticism or intangibles are like bryants. his ball skills are lesser han kobe's were coming out of high school and at the age brooks is coming into the league. not as creative with the ball, athletic nor anywhere near the defender. footwork not as precise. too much wiggle in his body control shows lack of strength. scouts have tried to compare derozan and henry as well. neither like KB
