I just got my DVD copy of "On Dangerous Ground," one of my top ten movies, and what a beautiful film experience it was. Truly a masterpiece. Robert Ryan blew me away, and I was emotionally drained by the end of the film. Also, if it did NOT end that way, I would have thrown something through the screen.
I love this movie! It is so romantic. Robert Ryan is so handsome and puts so much feeling into all his performances. Ida Lupino is so charming and vulnerable. I love the viola music in this movie.
Can he do a love scene or what? Especially with Ida Lupino, a great leading lady for him. It is DEVASTATING when a rugged guy does love scenes, far more than when a matinee idol attempts them.
Oh, I wish someone posted the whole movie! I'd be forever grateful. Nobody could play Jim Wilson better than Robert Ryan, one of my all time favourite actors. Claggart in Billy Budd will forever have his face and voice. I could go on and on about his great performances. And what a handsome man! Genuinely beautiful, in an effortless, non-narcissistic way.
Ida Lupino and Robert Ryan acted beautifully together in this film. Ida was brilliant and paved the way for other women directors. Robert Ryan was one of our best actors. He had such style and grace in everything he did, even when he was playing the bad guy. He was very much underrated but his films have stood the test of time.
