@pilotduty ou prob have an air leak in your pressure line from the exaust to fuel tank or our fuel tank is bad also your compression in your engine could be GONE and may need a rebuild
hey what type off started do u use i got a nitro car like that and i need new starter what 1 is it because like it got a littel sticky thing out where the starter gose??
Hi been given an rc car been stored for 3 years with fuel in the tank!! any good ideas viewers pm is good have thinners and nitro etc as i fly planes free rc car who would resist not me
so right now my rc engine is old, its a traxxas 0.15, the car is a beater, what will go on an engine? will it just loose compression and loose power? what will happen if i just neglect it, but run it, i run it rich,
heat up the case and try like that. sometimes you can heat the case up and make it expand so the sleeve will just pop rite out. or you can put a plastic piece in between the piston and a port and crank it over. thats how i get mine out.
@vik2r84 yes, compression problems are caused by the piston not fitting the sleeve properly. When you replace the piston and sleeve, that fit is restored, as is compression.
I think someone asked this but i never saw an answer....what is the list of parts to replace on a rebuild? i just got given this engine but its old, would like to rebuild properly but don't know what to replace...thanks!
Well, first thing is the piston and sleeve. Wheever those are replaced, most people will replace the conrod as well. The wrist pin and the clips that hold it in MUST be swapped out every time the engine is rebuilt.
Out of 4 engine rebuilds, only needed to replace parts once. Just breakdown your engine and clean it with throttle body/Carburetor cleaner (cheap stuff from Walmarts $1-$2 can), get some sandpaper (high grit) (I use it on the piston/sleeve) and after run oil (or lube). I start by clean it out ( get a tray and soak the parts). Then sand down things. Then clean again (grit from sandpaper) and rebuild. Test by putting your finger over the piston and move the piston. You should have compression.
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU SAND PARTS? (to dumb it down)the reason you get new parts is because theyre "bigger" your saying its better by making it "smaller"
Have you ever port and polish a nitro? Or car parts? I never said you have to use small parts. Just clean your old parts! I buy used engines (Small or Larger) and rebuild them. If you get a Nitro with no compression...a good cleaning (a little sandpaper, Throttle cleaner) will make it run for the most part. Why trash the engine or spend $50 for parts (Sandpaper and cleaner only cost $2-3).
Hi i was wondering if you could help i tried to strip down a thunder tiger ts-4n 12 pro engine down but i was stuck when i took the clutch off and came to the fly wheel i couldnt get any further i was wondering if you need a specail tool. Any help would be great thanks for your help in advance from Andrew
You need a tool for coupling disassembly! I personally don't like the idea using a screwdriver to pop the flywheeloff the crankshaft!
Then do the following steps:
Loosen the pilot shaft and leave 1-2mm space between pilot shaft and the flywheel.
Hook up the tool on the flywheel and tighten the screw shaft onto the pilot shaft.
Grip the tool and turn the screw shaft until the flywheel snaps off the crankshaft it should leave the cone behind which can be easily taken off by hand.
omg are some people retarded, its common sense. If something thats not made for water, not even meant to be near it goes underwater then DUH unless you no how to rebuild engnes (which from your question im guessing you cant) then you need a new engine
sorry for coming on strong but seriously think next time
Ive got an xtm .457 engine that i am replacing the piston and sleeve on. The new piston and sleeve fit in very tight and i cannot push it through with my fingers. is this normal? or should i return the piston and sleeve. This feels exactly like my already ceased piston and sleeve.
put a narrow flathead screwdriver behind it pry one side then the other very gently the finish off with pulling it off with your fingers!...but i have a question i looked at your profile and it looks like you might know somthing about rcs so why you ask
why would you ask that ..like how long it takes to burn a gallon...if you wana make your engine last a month then you can burn thr a gallon in a good bashing day,,,,....and the tires put the foam inside the tire put the tire on the rim take some ca glue and go around laying glue making sure your bead is even easy shit dude and besides if you are new to the hobbie which you sound like you are buy a rtr not a kit that would be dumb.and no most engines are made for one vehicle or brand
I tuned my engine the other day (which happens to be that same engine except with the purple heatsink.) Anyways I soaked my parts in my rc fuel like I was told and rebuilt the thing. The problem is I still can't get my snrs4 to start. The engines not flooded, my glow plug is lighting up (but Im not sure if its glowing enough), my fuel is a bit old but before I tuned my engine I almost had it start from the same fuel. So I am really stuck on what to do to get it to run. Any advice guys???
im new to the r/c hobby and i bought my first car off of eBay and well the previous owner didn't take good care of it and the engine is in very low compression and i think i need a new piston and sleeve...were should i buy them? and also very nice video it helped me ALOT!!
Thanks for all the comments on this video, you guys. If anyone needs me to post another video on how to preform another basic aspect of RC, let me know. The next video will for sure be better than this one (quality, voice instructions instead of text, etc.)
You need to run a rebuilt engine through a full break-in cycle, usually about an hour and a half to preform properly. An hour and a half of super-rich, low speed, low-stress driving with varying throttle inputs and no constant RPM speeds.
If you mean just swap the engine out, you need to first look on the bottom of the chassis for the engine mount screws. Take those out, then remove the engine mounts from the engine. Put the mounts on a new engine, line up the clutch bell and spur, and assemble the engine/mount assembly to the chassis.
you missed one major part....you must always lubricate the pistons and sleeves when reassembling to make piston slide in smooth. Maybe thats why it took you so long to get the piston through.
any one can reduild a 2 stroke engine and put the old parts back together because there is on timing or adjustments to be made. oh and just a littel reminder when you break in a engine you don't rev It to the max rpm all that will do is damage the engine.
Theres not much you can do. I know you can get a better pipe and gain more power across the board, or you can port and polish your engine to get a MASSIVE preformance boost. Just stay away from these so-called "superchargers" and "nitrous". The nitrous ruins your engine, and a 2-stroke engine is basically a supercharger in itself.
What do you mean when you say a two-stroke engine is basically a supercharger in itself?
Supercharger - A blower or compressor, usually driven by the engine, for supplying air under high pressure to the cylinders of an internal-combustion engine.
u also need to get new gasket set as well because if u use old gasket(the head shim and backpl8 gasket, then its a garentee u will loose alot of compression compression inside ur engine i used old shims and black plate gasket and it suffered horribly!!!also u dont need to dissassemble ur ENTIRE engine just the piston, sleeve ,backplate, and head. lastly, only rebuild engines that r worth rebuilding. If it isnt replace it with a engine that is worth rebuilding if it needs rebuilding
Hi, i have a thunder pro .21 engine that i want to strip and clean i know i need a hex screwdriver and the pen etc but what do i use to clean inside the engine eg (piston, conrod)
The T-15 has a larger, rounder cooling head, a 3-needle carb, a black crankcase, and a larger, stronger conrod. The engine I use in this video is the Nitro Star .15FE
Do you mean stuck in the block? If thats the case, put the whole engine in the freezer for about 5 hours. That will make the sleeve contract and able to be pulled out with zip-ties through the exhaust port.
The large hole is usually the exhaust port. It should line up a notch in the sleeve with another notch or a pin in the crankcase to tell you if it is put in the right way. As for your other question, I think thats just general new-engine compression.
Very sorry. Never noticed this comment. Yes, the sleeve has a specific position. Usually, there is a little notch in the sleeve that lines up with another notch in the block. If the block doesn't have a notch, line it up with one of the mould lines. Just make sure your exhaust port is lined up and shove it in! Makes it easier if you put the sleeve in the freezer overnight before you rebuild it.
excellent video, just a bit fuzzy :( if you redid this video in HD, you'd get a lot of hits!
