  • unbelievable - I just tried to do a blank post - because I thought anything I had to say would detract - but I wasn't allowed to - STUNNING

  • Over the holidays the BBC have showed Pans' People Dancing to this, several times, just a short clip from the sax or flute riffs in the middle, but unmistakeably Weavers' Answer. There were some shadows suggesting the group were on the spot... Unforgettable. I think Flick Colby maybe got a gong. And even a dedicated Family freak like me will admit that PP leaping about look better than Roger, especially when you've seen him a zillion times. PLEASE somebody get it posted here on Youtube!!!!.

  • this is just mint nuff said!!!

  • ♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♥

  • Always loved this song and this live version is excellent :-)

  • Absolutely BRILL!

  • Excelent!!!!! I love this soung and the first album!

  • this recordi ng is amazing for being live and of an amazing song

  • We were havng salad when this came on BBC Top of the Pops. I don't know who was more gobsmacked, me or my Parents!. "We'll have to turn this Noise off" said my dad..

"No" I said, "this is good, this". And they left it on!!!!! Loved Family and Roger ever since.

Of course, my parents hated it!. So I got them to buy me "Anyway" LP for Christmas!.

  • What a great drummer. Rob Townsend?

  • ..................yes they are possessed

  • Possessed??? are you kidding me??? Now i'm gonna watch this video......

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

  • honestly are they possessed ? waooowww this is one of the most anti-commercial performance of a hit single in the rock n roll history... there's no concession here

  • @BohemianConspiracy Possessed ? well,....maybe :))) !

  • ROCK ON ROG !!!!!!!!!!

  • Still gives me a tingle 40+ years on! Great posting, thanks

  • This is the best version of this song Family ever did. :-)

  • @fishdeschois I must agree.:)

  • Brilliant version!!

  • I suppose this is from the German program Beatclub. Could be anyway. It's funny how they on one hand could show superb but difficult live music like this fantastic Family recording. On the other hand they could a few minutes late show some horrible one hit wonder pop group.

You hardly ever see any group now a days playing live like this on TV and really go in to it. Now it is all cool, calm and in control.

  • my dad used to sing this to me as a child love it!!!

  • @adivadiv Lucky Guy!

  • @adivadiv my old man almost killed me when I made him watch this - I still remeber to this very day

  • best video on the tube

  • just... fuckin hell, pure wig out

    thankyou for putting this up

  • Amazing...one music paper described Rogers vocals " Like a bleeting ram in the mating season"

    Jim

  • As good to listen to now as it was then. Sheer magic.

  • simply insane and genius.

  • @AcidDroog you are so right

  • shit after 2.40 it so intense man...it's so pu.. purely an artistic rebellion...they can compeat the vintage speed of motorhead... straight out...no less! uhm... but i like their slow stuff to...

the Ric Grech 2nd song of their 69 lp for exemple.... it's so Far Out...i've got no other instinctive word

  • my impressions after 2 minutes ... they sound as iluminated punks... it's even more punk than blink 182 !!! (lol) ... blink are like a bad version of a modern and heavy beach boys... uhm... well... i should continue to listen the song

  • amazing stuff

  • this song has ALWAYS been special to me and WOW what a performance this one is ! THANKS for sharing this one :D

  • As I always said, Family is probably one of the greatest British bands to never break through in America. They definitely were ahead of their time and I honestly think Axl Rose stole all his stage antics from Chappo.

  • digno de admirar

  • I saw Family at the Kursaal in Southend-on-Sea during 1972, I believe it was. They were superb.

Roger Chapman was bellowing into some microphones.

What about that album when they were in Leicester City football kit!

  • It's Bill Bruford on drums, isn't he?

  • Rob Townsend.

  • What a great time the late 60s/early 70s was. Family was one of the best groups around, championed yet again by John Peel at the beginning. A Song for Me and Bandstand are up there with the best albums of that or any period. I always imagined what a duet of Roger Chapman and Joe Cocker might sound like.

  • That green light almost single handedly made me come back here. Without that light I can not watch this video as many times as I do...

  • the best there has ever fuckin been

  • Quite superb.

  • Great track fantastic singer

  • rob townsend is a vey underated drummer, not by me tho,i think hes great!
