it was nice to see his parents celebrate with him you could tell his dad was starting to get emotional. All those hogan bashers if there wasn't hogan the wwe would never be as big as it became.
@StephenAlexWalker well , don't wanna be the smartass here , but Ivan Putski is actually polish, not russian, well, he's a polish american now, but you know ;) anyways, nevermind. greetings from germany :)
I don't care if you like wrestling or not. This was a huge day in sports and pop culture. I was never a huge Hogan fan (huge Macho Man fan) but you can't deny what Hogan has done for wrestling and pop culture. I had the chance to meet Andre the Giant when I was 9. I was scared because he was a heel at the time but he was such a nice guy. Look at how big he was. Hogan was a huge dude and Andre makes him look like a small child. This reminds me of my childhood so much. Thanks for posting.
Vince's company and pocketbook would never be the same after this night... Hulkamania made professional wrestling an international sensation and Vince McMahon a certified BILLIONAIRE.
The beginning of the worst 5+ years in WWF history. I hated Hogan. Held the belt forever. Hadn't even seen Hogan in the WWF the prior year+ before this match. He just walks in from the AWA or from whereever and takes the belt right away. Nowadays no one holds the belt more than a few months. Back then Backlund held it for 5 years and then Hogan forever.
@Panorama1981 yes I know. I had the sports illustrated with him on the cover in 84 or 85 and it brought on the PPV era where they expect us to pay 30-50 bucks each month to watch wrestling. No way brotha. Thank God for the internet era where i can avoid spoilers and download it for free around midnight. LOL I miss the old days of 3 hour free shows from MSG once a month. I was 14 at this time and saw Snuka/Muraca Slaughter/Sheik and all these classics for free live.
LMAO, 0:51 to 0:53 Hogan spits a wad right on Mean Gene. For better or worse, Gene Okerlund was a straight cash professional while interviewing. Look up the Harlem Heat clip where Booker T says "Hok(Hulk) Hogan! We comin' for you n*gga!", Mean Gene abruptly & smoothly avoids the slip of the tongue to be an issue.
