Ronnie Lane left in 1973. His last Faces show was the taped show from 73 in Edmonton . They fought, Ronnie Lane slighted Rod by saying he had enough when he started shopping at Miss Selfridges , and left. So in typical Faces humor, they took the cut out of Ronnie to the shows, until they found Tetsu.
Come and see Never A Dull Moment at SPOT 5750 on Friday night July 29th. It is located at 5750 Hollywood Blvd. A really nice venue. Food, atmosphere and best of all.....Jon Hyde's (Detective) band, which is a highly rated Rod Stewart and the Faces tribute. Come on out to Hollywood and have a blast...NO COVER CHARGE!!!

This was released on Rod's solo album 'Never a Dull Moment' (his best in my opinion), so although he still used The Faces to back him, it was a solo release.
I think Ronnie Lane was concentrating on getting Slim Chance together at this time.
Na not as good as Hendrix. As Jimi sang with a soft velvety smooth style. But rods rasping Voice just sounds like a fog horn against such a pretty tune
@skawashers I disagree, I think both versions offer a bit of a different taste to the song. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong but, people have made music out of stranger things than fog horns.
This reminds me of my sister Bonita,She was on life support for months.She spoke of angels,that came to visit,then leave thur the window.Thanking of you ,I love you Bonita.For eternity.
If this was produced as a tribute band (Not just another Rod tribute), samesongs same era same cloths hair etc, ( and not a group of old washed out musicians) would any of you guys pay to see it at your local venue's, just as a Led Zep fan or an AC/DC fan would do to a likewise tribute show?
Jimi Hendrix is my favorute artist, yet, i have to say that Rod Stewart and the Faces made a GREAT cover... i think i rather this version instead of Jimi's
@SVinNJ Hey man, Rod had banged more dames that Robinson could ever hope for before little Chris even learned to piss standing up! 21 years of Pure Rockn'roll Life advance for Rod and his mates!
The infamous performance when "Plonk" sent a cardboard cut-out of himself! Excellent, never seen this. Thanks for the upload. If I remember correctly everybody bar Kenny Jones played on track in the studio. It's Mickey Waller instead.
Not bad for live!!! Good old Rodders doing Jimi proud.Pax to all from 73soulboy.Xxx.

Great jangle guitar at the beginning. Ron doesn't work it like that with the Stones.

Is this missing Ronnie Lane? Is that the cardboard cut-out? Anyone know why he was missing? What a top top band The Faces were!

@123tgw
This could have been after Ronnie Lane left. I dont know exactly when he left, but I know he left before the band officially broke up

I had a red velvet blazer like that and a maroon velvet suit all inspired by the Faces.

@yankeelawdog - I cut my hair in a Rod-like style, especially my fringe, in the cloakroom at school. My Mum was horrified!!
