That's interesting, I never knew of any rivalry. In any case, anyone who knows anything about Miss Davis knows that (for one) she was unstoppable and (sedcondly) needed to imitate no one. She worked her ass off to become (and be remembered as) who SHE was...

Her fight with William Wyler during "The Little Foxes" was that he was trying to get her to play Regina softer like Bankhead, but Bette saw her a different way. Always her own person, no matter who liked it. Love her!!!

The had a feud. Tallulah once said that she was better in every roll on broadway than Bette in Film.

Also she said that a lot of rumors about her come from Bette Davis.

Don´t mind, still love Bette Davis the most.

Tallulah had a radio show at the time Eve came out and it was said while Joe Mankiewicz visited the set of "A Royal Scandal" to see his mentor Ernst Lubitsch, it was said by Tallulah that Joe was studying her while he was on the set. Joe later dismissed this and said she only sparked the feud to garner rating for her show.

Not as bitter as most people think. Bette said on an interview that it was "exaggerated by the press" and she also said that while making Baby Jane the movie, the press asked them eagerly if they were fighting and Joan told Bette that they should write on the wall "We're getting along very well. Sorry to disappoint you."

Haha! Cute! I don't know much about Tallulah but she's right! Bette was a fine actress (I think THE finest actress) and judging from this, Bette did sound whole heap like her (not to mention that dress!). I LOVE BETTE!!!

i know that sone night at a party, tallulah came drunked to bette and said : "darling,you played all my roles, but i playes them better!" ... and bette just said "miss bankhead, you absolutly right!... so no feud really began!

Great! She does mean it though, she really thought Bette Davis was an outstanding actress, and Bette thought the same of her, expressed it quite a number of times as well. I don't really believe that "feud" between them. Bette always came to watch Tallu's performances and regularly congratulated her backstage.

During the opening credits of 'Pocketful of Miracles', Bette as 'Apple Annie' is walking down Broadway saying hello to people & she calls out 'hello Tallulah' at one point. It is sweet!
