  • 3:22 now THAT is the Lars I know!!!

  • There is no grace,no subtelty,no melody. Strictly one dimensional. Sludge. Monotonous. Flat and uninspired soloing. I hear none of the originality of thier influences. U F O/Schenker???

  • That "mistake" in the beginning sounds good

  • 12 people are all the former members of Megadeth :@

  • sell outs

  • Sounds immaculate live here.

  • I always want a beer or 12 when I hear old Metallica.

  • Lars in the beginning...haha))

  • he sounds like a kid haha

  • @mr4METALLICA he was probably drunk as shit dude

  • @PaulTheAwzm he probably was but what i meant is because he was very young dude! and his voice was different! not counting all the damage he did to he's voice for touring a lot singing like that and screaming! except at 1:15 he sounds exactly like he does right now! lol

  • Fuck YESSS!!

  • put a mic on it, DICK

  • @eltom125 Diack* xDD

  • Fucking badass

  • Where is this

  • @KillBaddBugz Zwolle, Holland

  • @400PrImApEsPiSs Oh my lucky you ;)

  • @KillBaddBugz prize for me?

  • I miss this Metallica, I don't really know who those 4 guys pretending to me metallica are anymore.

  • @zer0dahero They got old, man. At least they left a legacy of incredible music.

  • @metallifreak23 yeah but they are irrelevant since the blacl album...they aren't metal anymore (yeah it sonds weird but that's true...)

  • @chocolatedead they are still metal ! look up their st.anger album and death magnetic ! its pure thrash metal

  • @metallifreak23 they are old, but they still play ! and i love them for that

  • @WikiHeba96 Hell yeah!

  • @zer0dahero they are not pretending, what would they be ?

  • @WikiHeba96 Well, you got Kirk playing sloppy as me, Lars playing half as good as what he used to, some new guy playing the bass and James yodeling thought every song... You tell me where the fuk did those guys I moshed for back in the early 80's went and who the fuk are those guys up on stage pretending to be Metallica are? Cause they just don't cut it as Metallica anymore. Maybe you are a "jonny come lately" to this Metallica thing and don't know they used to be good...

  • @zer0dahero No ! I know they used to be amazing so full of energy, powerful ! I know ive seen loads of their gigs i mean not live but on internet etc. And yes we can all say that they have changed a lot, but that doesnt mean that they are not real now and that they are pretending, they just needed something new. Not all of Metallica fans liked that change, but for fuck sake IT IS still metallica ! And i will love them even if they decide to shave their heads and be bold ! Its METALLICA !!!!

  • @zer0dahero It's mainly because of down tuning that they sound bad. If you use an audio editor and change the pitch back up to E they sound better.

  • lol this is faster then the studio recording...sloppy too lol

  • @OlviMasta77 Metal arent perfect.

  • @raz0rcarich99 Nobodys perfect, man...

  • @raz0rcarich99 james and lars are

  • lol @ lars' mistake in the beginning.

  • @mattslapsthebass Yeah, I noticed that as well, lol.

  • @mattslapsthebass haha we still love him but ! \m/

  • @mattslapsthebass Nobody cares =D

  • why is it on the related videos, a name pops up that ruins the sight of this greatness that was posted?

  • The best solo i have ever heard in my life!!!!

  • ohh my god pero que potencia de lars, ahora vale caca

  • This video isn't live screw this!

  • @sensrok30 Yes it is live, couldn't you tell by the mistake Lars made? Just becouse they're not moving doesn't mean it's not live :/

  • @shishkebab0dude666

yes, i know it's live. I just thought it was taped, kind of live, y' know?

  • @sensrok30 Ah yes xD My bad :P

  • haha, James almost had six pack back then =D

  • @FlareStorm10 Yeah, a sixpack of beers...

  • @MrStefanSociety it would be more like a 32 pack

  • @FlareStorm10 I bet he had plenty of six packs. Then he drank them.

  • Metallica sux live

  • @rammhammer7 Then listen to studio you dumb cunt, OR. Listen to 89, when they were good.

  • @rammhammer7 so does your mom lilttle fag metallica forever !!!

  • Yes lars failed the intro. And his skank-beat with one kickdrum ¤ only between two snare* * shots (¤* *¤* *¤* *¤) is really awful....

  • @CapitaineHarlock Agreed!

  • Tu dices belinda-yo digo metallica

Tu dices moderatto-yo digo iron maiden

    Tu dices rbd-yo digo megadeth

    Tu dices rosas-yo digo calaveras

Tu dices pop-yo digo cierra la maldita boca

Tu dices hip hop-yo grito HEAVY METAL!

  • wich bootleg this is from ?

  • Why does James always sound better in the recordings than on stage most of the time? The only time I can recall where he tore it up vocally was during the S&M concert....

  • @GirlofanAlchemist123 james does things with his voice live more energy put into it than studio

  • @AsorryProduction wow, and usually it's the other way around for artists! XD

  • Seattle 1989 @GirlofanAlchemist123

  • @GirlofanAlchemist123 What did you mean with that last part? Also, he couldn't sing The Thing That Should Not Be at that time. It might be because he wasn't used to singing in a different tuning than the studio version.

  • @cubby3o5 I meant exactly what I meant, he literally SANG HIS ASS OFF during S&M, not screaming out the notes, he took time to sing them damn well in tune and stuff, reminds me of a male Shakira when he sang Until It Sleeps with that quivering sexy voice during S&M :D

  • @GirlofanAlchemist123 autotuned..the show was autotuned man

  • @UhmazinggX3 What??? Nu uh no way! D:

All my respect, lost if this is true....

  • @GirlofanAlchemist123 yupp..all my respect was lost when i found out..if you google it theres tons of people who will confirm..i found out from a guy who worked crew for the show.

  • @UhmazinggX3 Well now I'm depressed... :/ So there was something in the mic when they were playing live that made James sound like a sexy god???

  • Lars always making mistakes but ai love his drumming!

  • @Almeida5 I actually googled it a little and found it already =] This whole show is awesome and quality is amazing for bootleg! Thanks anyway =]

  • @OriGri what show is it??? share the wealth!!!

  • @rocafella142 The bootleg's called "Beyond the Wall of Sound", downloaded it through torrent, which was pretty fast.

  • @OriGri cool thanks

  • 5 people are damaged !

  • @MegaBeerMe Thank you! Geez, glad I'm not the only one! lol xD

  • This is the true Rock 'n' Roll !!!!

  • @polydrafter This is TRUE THRASH METAL

  • @33COOLMAN33 And that too.

  • Is the ANY WAY to get this bootleg?!

  • @OriGri The name of the bootleg is called: Beyond the Wall of Sound. The gig is from the Aardshok Festival in Zwolle Holland. You can find it all over the internet. I've had the boot for many years, and it is one of the best of my somewhat vast collection of Metallica boots.

  • Dy-ing time is Here!... -.Damage Incorporated.-

  • It sounds like James says a mexican at 3:25 and huge fail at the drums in the beginning

  • "Put a mic on it, DEEYICK" LOL!!! xDDD

  • I personally think this version right here is a shit-ton better sounding & feeling than the actual studio version...prolly better go dig my grave now...lol xDDD

  • @LadyBritannica I agree. I think, more times than not, you really don't hear what a song is supposed to be until you hear it live

  • Lars must have been drunk

  • @DocteurTaylor they have been ALL drunk

  • Comment removed

  • 3:23 lars was a beast back then

  • @THEGATHERING20 damm this song is freaking metal, if james did screamo nobody would believe this is metallica

  • @ragnaroksama screamo? youre fucking wrong , metallica its not deathcore or metalcore you fag...

  • @YoungmaykO9 whoa there, says who they are? im just saying this is like the heaviest metallica song i think some haters judge any metallica song just its metallica is playing and they know that cause of james voice, if this didnt had james voice no1 would think its metallica xD its like in a way....ppl cant say shit about metallica for not "being" as heavy as other bands (always megadeth) cause they made this song

  • @ragnaroksama i know what youre trying to mean dude , indeed i know, but im just saying that screamo its like emo or core stuff , you could say growls or whatever anything but screamo? hellno anyways greetings lml

  • @YoungmaykO9 screamo is like the retarded way ppl describe "music that screams" like what ppl say, bunch of fags i dont like death metal or sutffz like that i think 80s thrash metal is the heaviest as my taste goes (and its heavy and its the best) ppl playing metal 2day=bunch of posers and about what i said before...ppl only bash on metallica cause of the early suff instead of credit them for the 80s stuff its like nobody is a real fan and mostly dont know metal

  • 5:52 Put the mic on it Diack xD

  • He may have messed up the start, but at least it was a screw up that sounded decent..

  • 1:54

one of my favorite riffs ever.

  • I think the Sex Pistols were tighter in the Vicious era :)

  • lars wtf???

  • lars drunker than keith moon

  • Lol lars messed up the start!

  • @MACARONIEMANIAC I can bet he was drunk :)

  • Poor Kirk in this one :)

  • Just listen at the drums... Lars was magician back then!

  • I miss the other Line-ups:

    James, Cliff, Kirk, Lars

    and

James, Dave, Lars( Who James and Dave both were talkin' about kicking him from the band) and their best bassist, Cliff

  • @DXfilmzzz Kicking lars out of the band was never a very serious discussion with James and Dave, Lars was always the business man behind the band...sort of the driving business force to compliment James' creative force.

  • I would sell a leg for that Flying-V

  • @mosquito1983 buy a gibson flying v, mount emg's in it, and you'll have an even better guitar, since that V was a cheap copy of a gibson according to him

  • Comment removed

  • @mouloudo Yea, you' re right. That was an Electra 2236, a japanese copy of a Gibby V.

I already own a Gib V but, you know, the James one did the hystory :)

  • @mosquito1983 got you man lol

  • thats probably because his wife wont let him drink beer which sucks

  • This is sloppy and I love it !! It shows their punk roots

  • They fucked up in the beginning... At least Lars did.

  • @Abyssvx sooooooooo?? they are METALLICA remember that they are big u are not :)

  • @YoungmaykO9 Soooooo? I pointed out a fact.

  • @Abyssvx SO FUCKING WHAT !

  • @EX0michAel You mad?

  • @Abyssvx no man ! i just said , its normal to make mistakes even for Metallica/Gods

  • @Abyssvx Yeah he went into the progression 1 bar earlier but then tried to cover it up.

  • this sounds sloppy as hell

  • @eyepatchinc Probably because they were all drunk when they played.

  • The double bass at 3:22 jesus christ...

  • The only thing that Jason has on Rob is a voice. Even though I have heard Rob sing, and he can hold a note, but unfortunately it hasnt come across on stage that well... I guess all that talent has to be focused on what is important... BASS!!!

  • what guitar is james playing in the picture?? i believe it was an all white Gibson flying V but it doesnt look like the V's they sell now..... it looks smaller...... and the headstock seems different? Please answer.

  • @b4zii12 its a gibson flying v

  • Jason does just as good a job on this as much as it may hurt. He sounds pretty in the zone... I think a bassist can only be as good as the drummer in most cases. If anyb ody knows bass they all know R. Trujillio is way better. Forgive me on the spelling of his name.

  • James voice has change huge through the yrs.. My friend has a a record with the original line up live in San Fransisco.. With Dave and Ron, James voice is just screechy and very high pitched.. Its cool cause it sound so real and raw you dont even care how shitty it sounds.. But this is my favorite James voice

  • GOOOOD!!! DID YOU HEAR THAT MISTAKE OF LARS?????

    0:05-0:06

    I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ricardo190497

really? you really think that it's a big mistake?

  • haha great performance!

  • @LuchoMazzeo no... cliff die 1986 ....

  • come on lars :D

  • why cant they just freaking play today like they did back then

someone quick get james a beer

  • @Burtonindustries7

They've gotten older. They are no longer 24 like they were in the 1987. You gotta take into consideration they are TWICE that age today. They still do play pretty good, but:

    1) James' voice isn't as it was

    2) The guitars sounded better in 80s and early 90s

    3) Jason is no longer in the band

  • @RazorAceYU im srry but that isnt an excuse look at metal legends as in Dio before he died, Rob Halford Chuck Billy, Blackie Lawless, oh and one of the most important here who never sold out and voice never really changed Bobby Blitz from Overkill. so im srry that isnt an excuse he doesnt have his voice casue of the black album durring the making of the album he lost his voice and he took singing lessons to get it back and when taught James even said his voice was never the same as before

  • @CapitalPunishment657

People are different. Nuff said. Other vocalists managed to keep their voice, james didn't. It's a shame, but no use mourning over things ya can't change. :)

  • @RazorAceYU James still has his voice, but he cant use it otherwise he's strain his voice too much and completely lose it forever. look up any metallica song live e tuning, you'll shit.

  • @RazorAceYU duuuuude i do not agree with you on #2 i think kirk has gotten even siicker mann! and #3 jason newsted wasnt as awesome a bassist as cliff or trujilo there all awesome but i think jason not being in the band didnt make a difference for the negative if any but of course this is my opinion and i respect yours

    Metallica 4 life!

  • @gregRAIN Im sorry dude but Jason is wayyyyy better then Rob

  • @AnaheimDucks1993

I'd say Rob is just about the same as Jason on the bass. backing vocals though, rob sucks at those tbh

  • @MexicanSeadude Yah agreed on the backing vocals! NO ONE did the bridge in Creeping Death like Jason agreed?

  • @AnaheimDucks1993 not sorry dude robert is way more better on base. jason is better on vocals. but robbert is way more talented.

  • @AnaheimDucks1993 IIII'M SORRY... But Rob is a minimum 3x the bass player that Jason is... Not to mention a better writer... You know how many riffs Rob wrote on DM??? A ton!! Now granted, they probably didn't let Jason in on a lot of writing, but Rob is a great writer! Also has way more experience, more versitile, and just looks cooler when he plays (I know... not THAT important!) . The best judge... listen to Robs "Orion" and listen to Jason's. Jason never played it right!! Rob DOES!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @violavpeace I know the comment was removed (by who?) but here is my response: I said Rob wrote "riffs" which initially means he wrote PARTS of songs. Jason would probably still be in the band if he hadnt quit. How long he was in the band shouldnt be used as an anchor of how good he is. I have watched Jason over the years, and he has never done anything that impressed me. Rob has. Yes, it is my opinion, but there is a point where if enough people have the same opinion, it becomes a fact!

  • @CAlanRobinson U think jason didnt write songs??? Are you kidding me. He had made quite a couple in the black album. He made my friend of misery which was the song the got him in the band. And no dude a bunch of opinions dont turn into a fact. Alot of peole say Rob looks like a fucken monkey for how he peforms....why not turn that to a fact?? Jason can do a shit load of things that rob cant do...Rob just learned so many things because he went to school...and he can solo very similar to cliff.

  • @violavpeace again... I'm sorry, but Jason has 3 Metallica song credits for the entire time he was with the band... Rob is more than 3 on just ONE album... even the band themselves considers it an upgrade. Like Jason all you want, I'm not telling you not to... Rob may look like a monkey when on stage, but he is the better, all around musician, bass player, writer... better for Metallica!

  • @CAlanRobinson No he does not wtf!Jason has made so many things for metallica. Its funny how u say all these lies.u really dont kno the band.now as far as u sayin that Rob made alot of songs, thats not true either.Metallica does not work upon a bass.they make riffs up from electric guitars & from there they take it.Thats how thrash metal works.Usually its kirk who comes up with the riffs.I bet u if rob was in the band after cliff,he wouldnt be able to take the pressure that James would give jason.

  • @violavpeace OK! All I did was checked Wikipedia on jason. 3 songs. Thats it. I figured if other jason lovers knew more, they would make sure its up there! Rob- look at the DM cd cover... ALL songs gave RT writing credit!! Also, I know how exactly how Metallica works. They put together cds of riff ideas, (RT plays guitar too!) from all three melody members, and then they get matched together and arranged. Again, I don't know where you went to thrash metal writing school... not Metallica's!

  • @CAlanRobinson First of all, wikipedia says a bunch of bull, anyone can write anything on that.and second of all when it says that members have song credit, theyre talking about the lyrics. If u look at the justice through the reload albums it also says jason has credit.Right there they talk about lyrics.Another thing...is thats not how they work...guitars come first..why do u think James gave Jason a hard time?James didnt want anyone to take control but him.Its always been like that.

  • @violavpeace DUDE!!! I have been following how they write their songs since they started publicly sharing how they write!! They record themselves playing when they are home, then they give the tapes and cds to James and Lars to go thru for riff ideas. Up until St. Anger, james always wrote the lyrics so any writing credits have always been about the music end of the song. Second of all, every source on Jason I found online either supported what I said, or nothing at all, but never said that..

  • @violavpeace ... Jason had more writing credits than what I have already stated. NOWHERE. That may be what you wish was the case because you like him so much, but it is not reality. If the song had Kirk or Cliff or Jason on it, it was because they used a riff in the song that they wrote... James adds riffs and Lars arranges. If anyone can write anything they want to wiki... then YOU add it and say that Jason wrote all the songs!! I checked the data on Justice, Black, Load and Reload...

  • @violavpeace ...and all the individual song writng credits were there, and it only confirms what I have already said. 3 songs. So stop talking about stuff you know nothing about. You only look unintelligent when you start vocalizing your fantasies about Jason. It is not reality. You obviously don't play, and thats ok, but stop acting like you know how a "thrash metal" song is written. There is no "ONE WAY" to write any song. Any song writer can tell you that.

  • @CAlanRobinson Let me tell you something.if someone was in your band and only wrote 3 songs....i would of let that person go and fired him.How is it possible for jason to be in the band for shit load of years and not do anything. U underate jason way too much.Idk where you read all these things. And understand that Metallica had hired Bob rock.it was only cause of him the way they write their songs. Why do you think their stuff isnt thrash anymore?Once they hired him, their music wasnt the same.

  • @violavpeace You kind already answered your own question... why did Jason leave? Because he felt he wasnt getting an outlet within Metallica. So, that right there only supports what I said about Jason not being involved much with the writing process. His purpose was to play bass. If he did other stuff, great. Rock has nothing to do with HOW they wrote songs... just how they were recorded. It isnt Rocks fault that Metallica changed there sound... It was Metallica schoice...

  • @CAlanRobinson No man. Jason left because james did not let him be in his other band "echobrain" james told him that he can only be in metallica and no one else. Look at the documentary of why he left. Now as far as bob rock is concerned yes it it did change their sound..he worked with them in writing process a couple times. And it did affect their music..if it was for them recording their stuff and hearing it over and over..things wouldnt be changing.

  • @violavpeace and anyone in my band would not get fired just because he didn't write songs... first, it would be how they perform the songs live, and second... were they a pain to be around or work with. Jason doest qualify for either of those. Metallica didn't fire him because he can play the songs, and he isnt a jerk to work with. They fired Mustain because he was a jerk to work with. Ron because he was a lousy bass player.

  • @CAlanRobinson Where r u getting these things from?Ur fucken crazy.Ron was never fired. He actually quit cause Dave pour alcohol in his bass & when Ron connected it everything exploded & he went flying.Thats actually part of the reason why they fired Dave. Now see, like u said,Jason can perform & he was never a pain to no one.Personally i would prefer perfomance which is what jason has, than writing songs. For the love of god Jason moshes while he plays.Rob just stands & walks around while playing.

  • @violavpeace OK... granted IDK why Ron left exactly, but it wasnt because of writing skills, right? Why was Jason doing the echobrin thing?... because of not having a creative outlet in Metallica. That is my whole point. Also, BOB didnt write anything Metallica did except on St. Anger. If he would have, he would have made sure he got writing credit, because with writing credit comes royalites. He just produced the albums. Metallica changed because they wanted to.

  • @violavpeace Jason stayed in Metallica because at the end of the day, he got the job done. Yes, I will agree. Jason wasnt incompetent. I just think his strength is in song writing, thats all. Now, I still think Rob is better, but obviously you disagree, and thats ok. Thats cool.

  • @CAlanRobinson Well there you go...its just differences...but 1 thing that i think every metallica fan knows is that...no one can be compared to what cliff does.

  • @CAlanRobinson i have an uncle named alan. my last name is Robinson. this was just interesting to me.

  • @CWRobinsonMusic Maybe in some weird cosmic way, we are related!

  • @violavpeace ...and before you get your panties in a bunch... I'm just playing around and having fun with this bantering back and forth. No reason to get violent. Just having fun. Its only youtube...

  • @CAlanRobinson wow..ur fucken weird.

  • @violavpeace ...at least my facts are straight.

  • @CAlanRobinson Just cause rob wrote songs which isnt exactly true dont mean shit. the fact the hes a "better player" turns more into an opinion and not a fact.Considering the fact that jason has been in the band for much more longer than rob has & just cause in your opinion rob plays orion better doenst mean hes better.Im telling you,Jason can come up with things that rob would never be able to come up with.Every bassest is good in their own way, never forget that about a musician.
