it's really not a bright idea to stay in the boat after it swamps! it's just going to damage the shell more and make it sink faster! They should've gotten out as soon as it happened. rowing to shore is just as dangerous.

actually this crash was because their Cox wasnt able to get a green card so Princeton lent them a girl cox who spoke Chinese. She made a bad call coming out of an already tricky turn and one thing led to another

Anyone notice they hit MIT where the cox from the Chinese 8 was in school? That is nuts. Peking's coxswain couldn't come due to visa problems so this chick from MIT stepped into cox. THEN HIT HER OWN SCHOOL'S BOAT. Oh, and it is in the rules for yielding, if you look at the boat positions, MIT was yielding the correct way and the Chinese cox could have gotten around with better planning. Totally the Chinese cox's fault.

I'd cut her a little slack: She was picked because in reverse order) she was willing, petite and spoke mandarin chinese. A grad student with less than a season experience she was over her head. If the Peking boat had't been doing well enough to pass it is likely nothing would have happened. The #39-Peking coxswain was responsible to keep clear of #38-Beaver Boat club (MIT) even if #39 was a little off course.

I was at brentwood 2005 when likle 7 boats sunk, one of the quads had their cow up in the air then the bow fell of like titanc. our quad sunk and we had to jump out. It was pretty scketch.
