I built a bell tower next to my house in the country. It has bells of many sizes and tube bells of different lengths. When they all ring together the neighbors say they they sound beautiful. But oh how I would love to have this big giant here.

It doesn't sound pretty... But the funny part is that this bell is extremely close to true-harmonic tuning, and if you speed up the sound it actually has a remarkably smooth, pleasant tone. The problem is that when bells are this big the higher overtones tend to drown out the main frequencies far more than in smaller bells.

The bell sound is fine. It just doesn't have a resonating chamber above it to capture all of the over tones, so all of the sound just flies out all over the place instead of being focused into one space before it is sent out.

Naja ich muss sagen die könne man als Gegenstück zu Big Ben hernehmen..aber der klingt um Weiten besser als diese Glocke hier.

Ich würde mich mal intressieren wie die Gloken in den "deutschstämmigen Kolonien" (Blumental oder sonstige)in Südamerika klingen,die scheinbar fast alle noch im Originalzustand sind.Kann man da Kontakte zu Leuten herstellen??Das wäre mal dann unverfälschte Technik des ausgehenden 19./Anfang des 20.Jahrhundert,wenns nicht "kaputtsaniert" wurde..

Het tergend langzame luidtempo is hier natuurlijk ook debet aan, alsmede de zeer diepe slagtoon en het feit dat hij buiten hangt, en niet op een klokkenzolder, dus e.e.a. slaat erg gauw dood. Ik vind de klank trouwens mooier dan die van de World Peace Bell: die is gewoon vals, de A00 is veel te hoog en disharmonieert vreselijk met de wel goed gestemde kwart.
