I bought my first Vikki Carr album (1967) because I saw her sing "My Heart is Free Just Like the Wind" on the Smother Brother's Summer Show, I was 14 then. I followed her life and music and I loved her. I met her privately in person in 1974. She was the absolute best, her emotional delivery made each song her own. Then Columbia told her to record only in Spanish. Later, she no longer did her Midwest concerts. She left me and her loyal fans yearning for her to sing English songs and her visits...
Thanks for the history lesson. Didn't know she had a mouthful for a name. Glad she changed her name to Vikki Carr.. . .would've been a real stumbling block trying to introduce her on my show on the Beep! I've had enough trouble speaking English without
