Better be cairful with so many in a tank, if one eats one of the smaller or weaker ones it will change it's hormone balance and become Alph type killing and eating all the others then grow to twice it's normal size and develope a differant head structure.
@tw1stedgrudge Sand is a perfectly safe substrate for cynops species in general. no threat of impaction and i have seen them in sandy puddles overseas.
@robkeulers i totally agree with you as you see in the vid there eating blood worm with a touck of sand ...use ethier large stones or pebbles dude there eating sand trust me itll kill em or shorten there life span
No, you are wrong. They are all cynops ensicauda popei. Some with less specklings than others, but all cynops ensicauda. I keep newts for years and I know what I'm saying. I disslike the fact that you tend to know it better by seeing just 1 short video

they live in sandy waters. My friend has observed them in the wild. I have them on sand for years now without any problem.

In the USA we can't get live bloodworms, only frozen. That sucks.

The specimen walking along the tank wall at 0:05 is amazing! I have never seen that coloration in Cynops.

The sand is no problem at all. I have them in this way for years now. The reason I use sand is that I saw habitatpictures with sand everywhere...

IRideDolphinsNaked 4 years ago
By the lenght of it's tail. Females have much longer tails than the males. But this only works for cynops ensicauda popei
