Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California
Jason & the Scorchers, originally Jason & the Nashville Scorchers, are a Cowpunk / Country rock band formed in 1981 and led by singer/songwriter Jason Ringenberg.
White Lies was on an EP released in 1985. How could it heard way way
Me and my band The Brigade had the great pleasure of meeting these guys in Manchester, UK, where we supported them at The International Club in around 1985.
Tthe 80's most famous band who were never famous...only copied and sometimes credited. A shame, this band's destiny was somehow denied. Those of us who were there from the beginning can tell the tale for you! Nashvilles best band of the 80's hands down!!!
@mazakman1957 JATS: One of the best kept secrets of the 80s. I only heard them on the left end of the dial, though. Cowpunk never found a home on commercial radio.
There are hardly words for how amazing this is. Absolutely explosive. I know they're putting on a show for the tv..meaning they are giving it their absolute all b/c they are on tv for 3 minutes...but good lord....just amazing.
Its always bands that shake up the system that never make it. These guys have a ton of talent, and lots of raw energy, but they stick out too much to fit in and be majorly successful in one genre. To rock to be country, too country to be rock. I do however love this band, and wanna have Farmer Jason play for my daughter someday, and have atleast Jason Ringenberg play this and a few others for me.
I have seen them twice and it ain't enough. These guys can seriously lay claim to the greatest American rock band of all time...They're that good.
This is plain and simple what Rock 'N' Roll is about. Warner, Jason, Perry, and Jeff made me believe rock was as good as it was in the seventies in the eighties and nineties. Now, approaching 15 years on they've done it again with the wonderful "Halcyon Days". Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus because I just got my 2010 present early!!!!!!
Saw Jason & The Scorchers at Knuckleheads in Kansas City last night and they destroyed the place! Still as awesome live now as they were a quarter of a decade ago. The new CD is just wonderful and watching Warren Hodges beating his guitar into submission is what Rock & Roll is all about. That dude is the goods!
FYI see jasonringenberg(dot)com for the list of Scorcher albums, including his children's songs -- meanwhile Warner Hodges (kick ass guitarist) took time off from construction to play in the "Disciples of Loud' - not quite the same as the Nashville Scorchers, but definitely worth a listen if you like load guitars - you can hear samples of the album "Let the beatings begin" on the CD Baby web site. Hodges plays guitar and lead vocals - Todd Austin plays lead guitar.
I love his happy birthday to his daughter at the end. That video just made me want to forget everything I know about playing music and start over again and remember to smile the whole time. First song I've heard from these guys. Awesome.

I had a band that copied a lot of its stage persona off of the Georgia Satellites and Jason & the Scorchers. One of the wedding dances we played at the bride asked if we knew any Jason & the Scorchers tunes. We ripped that place apart!
I used to love this band and this song!!!!! They definitely were innovative! Lost and found was a great album! This sure takes me right back to '85. Their energy when playing live was unbelievable. Glad to see other fans here.
I remember the Drumstick! I was playing bass with a band that opened for the Towndogs (not the same night as the Scorchers). God, what a crazy bar. Thanks, you just took me back 27 years!
One of the first songs i eva herd by em.......f*****g fantastic...don't make em like they used to eh.... "guns and f****n roses !!! peashooters and pansies.....bah !!!
My family owned a bar called the Drumstick in Lincoln, NE. The first time they came to play - Jason had two different shoes on - they were packed like sardines in an old van, and they glad to hear that they were getting a free chicken dinner with their guarantee. They put on the worlds greatest show, Warner and my Uncle Tim became friends for life, and I saw them maybe 20 times afterwards. Still, above all - they are the best band I've ever seen. And Jason just drinks MILK!
Drumstick, RIP. I had more fun there, saw little Jason here in a pink pair of tights and a tutu. He pulled it off, how does that happen in conservative Lincoln, NE??? McDonalds is there now, the ever declining western 'civilization'. God bless.
I saw Jason With Swedish Backup band like 2004 or something here in Stockholm. If it was good? Yeah, like hell is that man an entertainer? That was among the best shows I have ever seen, he(Jason) ended it with The Ramones: - I want to be sedated!
Wow! I'd almost forgotten these guys, because I'd never seen them on TV or Video. What a performance. I don't think any group had that much energy! And the song is great! Keep Rockin' and Good Luck to all from the Captain.
I saw this band in my hometown, Stockholm, Sweden twice in the mid-eighties. They were as good as any rock´n roll band could ever be!
Me and my mates were in the moshpit pogo-ing ourselves silly! Some four or five years ago Jason was here in Sweden on his own, I was fortunate enough to see him perform and have a chat with him afterwards. I was a bit drunk, but he was anyway a really nice bloke!
May 15, 1984 at Studion, Stockholm! I've never seen anything like it!!! And then June 25, 1985 at Moderna Museet, they were fantastic there too of course!
i saw jason and the scorchers with my hometown boys the georgia satellites in one show back in the late 80's.I dont think my hearing ever recovered. Why is'nt there any bands like the sats. and scorchers anymore?
Hey boneidol! Was that the show at the theater at Peachtree and Roswell road? I can't remember the name of it, but we were there! damn what a band they were. Closest I have found to this in spirit is Hank III. Have you noticed that half of the country music now sounds just like the Satellites?
Stace did a pretty good job of opening up, I actually thought his basically acoustic set was pretty good but obviously little preparation for what was to follow. The Fridy night benefit showcase was pretty damn cool too, but the Scorchers were something else entirely! Well worth every penny of the £700+ paid to get to the show from the UK!!
IF ya like this...check out "Greetings from Nashville" from the re-release version of Still Standing...and hold on to ALL your shit...perhaps the BEST straight-up Rock n Roll song I've EVER heard...I saw them in Nashville...fuckin' JAMMMMMMMMED...enough said!!!!
I agree w/ your Scorchers/Farmers remark. I have 2 hours of Beat Farmers on DVD that I would be happy to send (gratis) to another fan! I have a lot of Scorchers stuff, too, but almost all of that is commercially available, so you probably have it already.
Warner Hodges is the best rock guitarist of modern times. He's like the Pete Townshend of American rock. Jason Ringenberg is a great singer and performer too. Before I die all I ask for is one more Jason and The Scorchers tour. You guys rock harder than anyone, period.
No doubt about it, the greatest live rock and roll band I ever saw. Nobody was better. Imagine this for 2 hours at the loudest volume you've ever heard anything. Whenever anyone asks me "what is the greatest rock and roll band you ever saw?" the answer is easy. The first time I saw these guys, back in 1981, I couldn't believe what the were attempting. The next time I saw them was in 1985, and I thought "holy fuck, what am I doing? THAT'S how you play rock and roll."
