  • ok sooo UAD is better than Puig but the IK Black 76 is better than the UAD and the Puig???

For the fraction of the cost i'd go with IK but it probably has a higher CPU hit.

  • My nod to the UAD

  • The UAD beats the Waves though the Waves beats the UAD

  • UAD beats bar far the waves

  • Kind of a dumb drum sound. And no real Fairchild had a release time that fast.

  • I LOVE THIS COMPRESSOR.

  • why dont you use protools?

  • they both sound great. anyone out there pulling your hair out trying to decide to buy Waves or UAD plugs, fear not... I own the Waves Mercury bundle as well as the UAD-2 quad Omni, and they all sound really really really great. i see all these people getting so caught up in the Waves vs. UAD thing. pick one, buy it, start making music. they all sound fantastic. i can't stress that enough. ive spent hrs a/b'ing plugs and the differences are very minute. the average person could not tell the diff

  • YOU MUST UDE THE SAME SETTINGS AND SOLO ONE.......THEN SOLO THE OTHER.........

  • The Waves plugin is so much better!

  • UAD WINS!!

  • I am so sick of this drumloop

  • @Senj1n sameeeeee

  • THANKS! WAS LOOKING FOR THIS!

  • i am producer, and waves fairchild has some warmith more than uad,i will say "WAVES", i love waves, have new waves 7 complete,it is spectacular....:)

  • @VitoCerneOFFICIAL

with the Vocal Rider?? hows that plug working for you???

  • @T74G yes with vocal rider,it is cool plug but i dont use it,for vocals i use abbey road plugs-TG12413

  • @VitoCerneOFFICIAL

i got the Abbey plug last year, i never really messed with them...my go to compressor is the RVOX by Waves....i just love the fact that it sets my vocal where i want it in the mix, without killing any of the dynamics. if i recall the TG12413 is the limiter modeled after the one from the Abbey studios

  • @T74G yes all abbey road plugs are nearly the same story as a real devices,my friend is producer too,he worked in london in abbey road,he say that too

  • Thx 4 that Test!

  • i used to have a 670, and i can tell you it would sound and act different everyday. plugins rule..............

  • Quathar- you're right. I've got both Waves and IK versions and they react differently when the knob settings are duplicated, like 2 versions of the same hardware.

However, the settings do need to be "matched" for any viable comparison- in other words, rather than randomly altering the controls, the demonstrator should get each unit to react as similarly as possible, which can involve quite different settings on each unit. Only then would it be possible to say which plugin sounds "better".

  • " the drum loop"....

  • yeah nice works! I like xbox360! yeeees! good permuted comparison! you put a 360 on CRT TV and PS3 on a LCD TV... yeeesss

  • Weird- not very good. I've watched a few of these vids, and although the idea is great- compare sofware plugs- the execution is terrible! As Permutated (and many others) say-

Make the settings duplicate on both, save as presets and do some switching with a full loop then so we can compare.

Having said that, at least SSL9000Down has bothered to do anything with his plugin comparisons- good for you!

  • @te33m Wrong. Duplicating the settings says NOTHING about how they sound. The algorithms can differ, and the important thing is the sonic quality and performance of the plugs, i.e. when comparing two plugins that purport to emulate the same gear, you want to compare how they SOUND not how well they have matched the settings.

  • Holy shit, slow down man! Your random knob-twisting seriously makes it look like you don't know half of what you're doing. I doubt that's the case, but it doesn't look good either way. Some spots in the vid, you're actually a/b-ing the two, which is nice. Make those spots happen more often.

  • Agreed about the amount of tinkering. Make the settings duplicate on both, save as presets and do some switching with a full loop then so we can compare.

    Nice videos regardless!
