  • Beautiful piece of machinery. The concorde of turboprops.

  • omg seen this plane today at cardiff intl. wondered why there is a footballer on the side :)

  • I work on these! such great aircrafts :D

  • I have logged so many hours in the is model that I should have bought stock in the company. The little regional airports near my home are lousy with these things. Rugged, reliable and strong. There have been several times where I was the only passenger, the morning red-eye. Back then, the crew would leave the door open so I could hang out and watch. Miss those days! A little noisy and the seats suck, but it kind of grows on you.

  • Did he just taxi up the runway ?

  • @ExecutionerThe

yes he did. that airport is so small that there isnt an extra line for taxi.

  • @fantaa1993

    Great quality video however

  • @ExecutionerThe

    thank you!

  • @ExecutionerThe The procedure is called a backtaxi. It's not done very often at large airports although it can be if given permission by air traffic control.

  • @ExecutionerThe It's known as a "back-taxi".

When there's no parallel taxiway available or... a taxiway doesn't extend to end of a runway where we'll need to use the entire length of a runway for take-off, we'll "back-taxi".

There are other circumstances where we'll do this but, the above is most common.

  • @ExecutionerThe Its called a backtrack.

  • Why do some Dash-8 pilots have spoilers up until they takeoff?

  • @Dc9fan I can't say for certain because I'm not a Dash-8 pilot, but perhaps it's a safety thing, with the big turboprops pushing a lot of air over the high lift straight wings already, a big gust of wind might try to pick up one of the wings.

  • @redcarsarasota now that you mention that about the props blowing air over the wings. I must think that a small percentage of lift (of course not enough to fly) would be produced in that way. and that the exhaust from the turboprop would produce a little bit of thrust. (It must not be much because they made the engine to extract as much power from the jet as possible, and one time while watching one operate I could see the exhaust literally spilling over the nozzle)

  • @redcarsarasota Very little thrust comes from the exhaust. A decent amount does come from the props over the wing, but once you have airspeed, then it becomes negligible.

Many single engine T-tail planes have that configuration to raise up the horizontal stabilizer out of the prop wash (air too turbulent).

  • @Dc9fan It is an automatic feature that retracts upon increasing power. The aircraft assumes that if power is low, you are trying to stop. The 8 or 4 spoilers activate in ground mode to ruin lift, so as to improve braking ability.

The spoilers are mostly not used for roll, but just braking on the Dash.

  • Oh look, theres me when im older:)

  • i love the q400 but it wont last like the old DHC dash8

  • @hawker800FO

Bombardier plans to produce this aircraft for years to come. Many airlines are realising the benefits of the Q400 over regional jets. I don't know why you think it won't last. It's got a long life ahead of it

  • @kramnodd9 i not talking about the production run of the aircraft bud, ive had the opprotunity to fly them and see how they are built the old dash is FAR FAR FAR more rugged than this

  • @hawker800FO

    And far slower, too.

  • @kramnodd9 do you think the facts you are telling me, i dont know already? i personally know these aircraft inside and out

  • @hawker800FO

My point is, all modern aircraft are lighter nowadays. Just because they aren't as rugged, doesn't mean they're any less durable. It will last just as well as any turboprop before it.

  • @kramnodd9 bud trust me you will see the old DHC's flying longer than the bombardier q400

  • @hawker800FO

They've already lasted this long. No reliability problems (besides some landing gear issues) have cropped up so far.

  • @kramnodd9 bud have you seen the amount of AD's and AL's that have been issued?

  • อยากมีไว้ใช้ส่วนตัวสักคัน

  • a good one!!

  • @tauiota2

    thanks! :)

  • nice!

  • OH EM GEE YOU REALLY CAN SEE THE PILOTS EYES!!!

  • @yisasakopaka Haha yeah ---> 300 mm Nikkor objective.. ;)

    glad you liked it!

  • @KevishScot no prob!

    thanks for watching! :)

  • dziękuje za filmik 10/10 the great video

  • @Irektron dziękuję! ;)

  • Love the sound of turboprops and feathering the engines. Nicely captured and a good vantage point.

  • @bananamanuk yeah, me too!

    thanks for watching! :)

  • nettes video;)

  • @EuropeanVa danke dir!

  • Tolles Video:)

Kannst du mir sagen mit welcher Kamera du gefilmt hast ?? :)

  • @CologneSpottingHD Danke! :)

    Nikon D3100, Objektiv 70-300mm

  • @PixelKlaus danke!

Ich benutze eine Nikon D3100 mit dem Objektiv 70-300mm. Ja stimmt. Ist ein schöner Effekt. Kommt natürlich drauf an was eingestellt war.
