  • Finding a HARD case is almost impossible. If you're like me and live in a rainy environment (Oregon, in my case) it's easy to find a gig bag. I got mine from a thrift store for under $5 US. So it wasn't MARKED as a gig bag... it was a LACROSSE bag, and I've added a bit of padding to it (lacrosse sticks don't need much padding).

Michael, next time I have to fly, I will definitely build one of your hard-sided cases. United breaks guitars. And pickin' sticks. Etc.

  • @ImperialistRunningDo Lacrosse bags as travel/gig bags, great idea thanks! The cases I make are shower proof, but not waterproof, you can add a lip/overhang/seal if you wish to improve its water shedding, maybe spray rubber finishes rather than paint

  • Cool stuff Michael - I keep meanng to make a guitar case... another project for another day!

  • @MrRandomWritings If I can buy a case I do, and I enjoy putting a freshly made instrument in a good case but these long skinny instruments have strange requirements so it is hand made all the way!
