one of the greatest of the early rebels of this new emerging genre of music...now it has been hijacked, and made commercial and sold as dog poop (put into cans and market as PATE)...its the originals that never sold out...if Eddie has not been inducted in the hall of fame, we need to start a campaign on facebook...
@TarParty2010 their tea takes like TEXAS PISS...send for the chicken feathers, and the tar box, and lets party...TAR PARTY, once they have been to the party, they stand out in the crowd...but dont party the MOOSE, I love the animals...its the low life portraying as concerned americans, loyalists to the foreign corporations...
Such a simple song, nothing special about it but Eddie could do something to these songs which makes 'em great. How long do we have to wait for the next Eddie C?
@Tomd1013 So the White Stripes is a band? Darn hard to understand when one, YOU, don't use capital letters. Okay, thanks, I'll check it and if you are wrong I want your head served for breakfast tomorrow. I eat that, pigtails and shower it all down with a bottle of Jack Daniels. Hahahahaha...take care.
@Tomd1013 If this redention is the closest to Ed's I don't know what is wrong with the world as I know it. Your head on a platter tomorrow. Capice! lol...all I can say, in my ears WS and Ed's versions are light years apart. Ed is superior IMHO and in 'my book'.
@gangerollo haha yeah sorry im not big on capital letters. and ive got both on my ipod so im happy and at least someones tryin to keep music alive right? its the thought that counts.....kinda
@Tomd1013 You're right. Wow! It was 3 months since I spread my gospel here. What happens with the 'thang' we call time? Is it linear... ? Must be, anyway for us mortals, down here on this tiny spot we call earth. Once read a shorth story of a man whose life wasn't counted in years but meters aka distance. It was a great story but his life ended when he unconsciously was taken by a horse drawn wagon out of the village. What does this have to do with Eddie? No idea. ^_* lol
@gangerollo no i think my guitar looks like his except now, thanks to you, i know mine is even more accurate to his since mines a gretsch and "some kind of" red. not that mines any special issue or anything just at first glance. great job on being a public douche.
This is excellent cut. It was sort of surprise to learn that this was actually speeded up - version. Authentic speed - version can be found on Bear Family's box.
The Stray Cats are from the 80th, RHCP could be remembered, but i dont hear this music^^,maybe wolfmother....there are good bands but not those genius like stray cats, jimi hendrix, experience etc.
Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly would have challenged Elvis for the title of 'King of Rock and Roll'....they both had the charisma, the musical chops and the look, unfortunately they died too young, and Elvis lasted another 20 years..I love them all, and wish they were all with us today, rock and roll needs them today in fact, the modern 'rock' scene is a joke quite frankly...name one band from the last 15-20 years that will be remembered 20 yrs. from now....
I know this song originally as a blues by Charley Patton (1929) and Leadbelly. Great Rock-a-billy there by Cochran. Never would a' thought these old songs would be taken up by the likes of The White Strips (whoever they are!)

Boll Weevil was also a term used to describe conservative southerners who were oppossed to desegregation in the mid 1900's as they were "bugs who infest cotton fields". but i have a feeling this song is just about the bug itself.
123FORD, Didn't know that. Always interesting and learning to get some more/new info. Thnx for that 123... But I think you are right that Ed is singing of the bug itself. BUT anyway, thnx for that info. Roland

with all due respect, the Boll Weevil, is a rather cute insect, but the way it destroy's cotton fields, isn't cute at all.

Boll Weevil was a beetle who destroyed the cotton plants. A lot of cotton pickers lost their work. This is also the theme of this song.
